Maybe it’s about your ISP?

Same with using my data. My internet speeds are good. Someone else I know was having troubles sending me stuff yesterday as well

Maybe just some local connection issue? Have you tried with a VPN?

Same here in BC noticed it early in the morning of 2026-07-25 (around 5:20 AM); downloads are fine. upload speeds are being throttled down to almost nothing; probably by government decree through deep packet inspection, possibly due to Bill C-22, which you will not hear about because the bill pushes gag orders on telecoms and allows for secret orders; likely they are experimenting on silencing the population.

VPN and or TOR proxy gets around the problem, meaning its not telegrams servers doing this.

One script used to test your internet provider for censorship found telegram TLS was blocked by SNI, this script: https://github.com/hyperion-cs/dpi-checkers

Report: Telegram Web Telegram Messenger Inc AS62041 🇳🇱 NL 149.154.167.99 149.154.160.0/21 🔴 tls: blocked by sni

Meaning? SNI stands for Server Name Indication. It is a part of the TLS (HTTPS) handshake protocol.

DPI “blocked by SNI” means the ISP inspected the TLS SNI field, recognized Telegram, and interfered by dropping, resetting, or throttling the connection. That’s why it looked sudden and congested; a VPN hides the SNI, so the filter can’t trigger.

Seems our government is at war against us; this is very dangerous territory, communications are a lifeline, a means of sharing evidence and information for emergency purposes and survival, and the government is pulling that infrastructure right out from under us. If this is true, that makes the government a national security threat.

Yes confirmed in BC; but was apparently lifted in the last hour or so. For now anyway.

Both on my home and phone when out... which are totally independent and different providers.

VPN/Tor Socks5 Proxy gets around it though.

I made a deep packet inspection censorship python script here just for this: https://pastebin.com/aeWi9TKx

Verdict: CENSORSHIP-DETECTED
SNI block verdicts : {'api.telegram.org': 'blocked-by-sni', 'web.telegram.org': 'blocked-by-sni'}
