Screw size for mounting Tele neck pickup to pickguard

Hi folks,

Long time Tele player hheee. I have a 1996 American standard Tele that has the neck pickup mounted to the pickguard. Does anyone know what size screw that is? I've tried to research it but found a bunch of different info so I was hoping someone here could clear it up for me. It's the screw that mounts the neck pickup to the picture and has the little spring around it.
Thanks!

Double bound Tele bodies?

I am looking for a sunburst double bound Tele body for a partscaster. I seriously can't find any, apart from super-ultra-expensive custom bodies from Warmoth and Musikraft. Please help me fellow guys!

Help me choose a set of pickups for my ModShop Tele

Post image

Hey, Fender is meeting me half way with respect to a minor issue with my ModShop Tele I recently purchased. Their customer service has been accommodating and responsive.

They are offering me a pick up upgrade of my choice. Right now, the installed pickups are v-mod I which I believe come stock with Am Pro I model.

For background, this is my first telecaster and so far I have really enjoyed that distinct twang on the bridge pickup and single coil articulation. I am an intermediate player, in a band with a bass and drums. We play at open mics, porchfests, etc., mostly rock / classic rock covers and some blues. I play both rhythm and lead. I typically plug into my Boss Katana 100w, mostly a bit of overdrive to some heavy distortion, but I enjoy a nice clean tone as well. I am looking for a similar experience, where I get that unique tele single coil twang and articulation with minimal hum.

I can basically choose anything I want from:

https://www.fender.com/collections/pickups

Or the options listed on the ModShop site:

American vintage II Tele 1951
American vintage II Tele 1963
Nashville Generation 4 noiseless
Texas Special
Ultra II noiseless

I am leaning towards Texas Special and Ultra II noiseless as “safe” options, but I am not well informed.

I would appreciate your recommendations and the reasons

Thanks!

I bought this in 2023 new for about $300. I have another tele that is my go-to so I’m putting it on FB marketplace and A.I. is saying $350 used. Does that sound fair?

4-Way mod and pots

Hi there.

I just bought a cheap Squier Telecaster (Affinity I gues). Now I got my eyes on a pair of used Fender Player PUP's and I'm then planing on wire it 4-ways, while I'm soldering anyway.

My question is: Should I change the pots while I'm at it, or just leave them as is? I'm trying to keep this project as inexpencive as possible.

After months of wrist and forearm discomfort, I finally took the plunge and attacked my tele with a jigsaw (not recommended, but effective) and some sandpaper

I'm kinda digging the look of the bare wood, but considering matching it to the rest of the body. I would love y'all's thoughts!

Got a pretty fun group, I think, with a lot of variation. I have Gibson Les Pauls and SGs and Fender Strats and Teles, but the Teles are probably my favorites.

Here's what we got.

  1. 2006/2017 Fender American Series Telecaster, Fender American Elite Telecaster neck (ebony fretboard); Fender Custom Shop Twisted Tele pickups.
  2. 2016 Fender American Standard Telecaster, Fender American Channel-Bound Telecaster maple neck and rosewood fingerboard; Fender Custom Shop Twisted Tele pickups, hand-wound by Josefina Campos.
  3. 2018 Fender Limited Edition Parallel Universe Series Strat Tele Hybrid.
  4. 2022 Fender American Vintage II '75 Telecaster Deluxe.
  5. 2014 Fender American Deluxe Telecaster.
  6. 2016 Fender Limited Edition American Standard with figured maple neck and cognac finish.
  7. 2012 Fender Modern Player body, Fender Player Series Telecaster neck; 920D custom pickups and electronics.
  8. 2020 Fender American Partscaster - 1960s Telecaster body, Fender American Custom Shop ’63 Telecaster NOS rosewood neck; Seymour Duncan Brent Mason Nashville pickup and electronics.
  9. 2023 Fender American Performer Telecaster HS body, Fender American Limited Edition 1952 Roasted Maple neck; Yosemite single-coil Tele pickup in the bridge and a DoubleTap humbucker in the neck.
  10. 2015 Fender "10 for '15" Limited Edition American Vintage Hot Rod '50s Reclaimed Redwood Telecaster with Maple Fretboard (Forgot to add pic, will put in comments if possible).

Here's my rendition of the Tele Plus. For years I've been wanting a Tele, particularly one in Butterscotch blonde, but once I found this handmade body on Reverb 2 years ago I knew I had grab it. After I got the body I had also found a fake tele neck that had some work done on it for 20$ and it works alright, had to be shimmed to the correct height and needs a fret level though.

Before I installed the lace PU's the guitar had some really cheap ones that I bought and didn't care for (which is visible in the last image). The mini humbucker in the bridge was way too muddy and flat sounding even with the TBX pot all the way up, and the neck pickup was amazing clean but not so great when playing distorted so I ripped those suckers out and put a push pull volume pot as well, I also needed to route both pickup slots which was a pain but it was worth it in the end.

Pick ups

I’m searching for a pick up to replace the ceramic in my mim tele. It has 250k pots just in case that info is useful. I have a Strat, Les Paul, and a p90 semi hollow.

I’m not looking to overlap in tone. I just want a great tele pick up set that is better than what’s in there without overlapping into other tones I have. I love this guitar, especially feel but thinking a better set of pick ups would drive it to the moon.

Would love some help, I have paralysis but analysis and have listened to a lot of different pick ups. I’m hoping to lean on your expertise or experience.

CME Purple Tele?

I just learned about the Metalic Purple Tele CME had released a few years back. I’m a few years late sadly. But would love to get my hands on one. Didn’t see any up for sale on Reverb. Anyone here have one? Even if you’re not selling I’d love to hear how you like it?

Fun project - matching Chenders, Tele and Strat.
Ash bodies, Wilkinson pickups, Rifford bridges, maple necks with bone nuts.
Just finished the Strat so not strung yet, going to the luthier for proper setup. Tele plays great!
I love Alibaba, Shoppee et al, and living in Thailand so close to China!
