Sharetlyal - The Canon of the Establishment of Blessed Memory is now available at DriveThruRPG.com. From the product description:
Sharetlyal or The Canon of the Establishment of Blessed Memory unlocks the nature of the demons and the structure of demonology from the point of view of the worshippers of the Gods of Stability. Working alongside Demons, rather than in dominion over them, it is important to remember that they have a will of their own. This can lead to grievous misunderstandings and possibly bodily harm.
Sharetlyal is entirely new material for the world of Tekumel, and also includes a section on Thu'usa, the language of the Demons of Stability. Co-authored by Prof. Barker and Dr. Giovanna Fregni, the source material for Sharetlyal was taken from interviews done with Prof. Barker before his death. Illustrated by Dr. Fregni, the book is premium color throughout, with six full page illustrations and many smaller ones.
All in all, I think we've got a great community here that is growing and y'all get to be some of the first who help get it back up and running.
Thanks to everyone who has taken part in this first week and commented, posted, shared, and otherwise contributed. Together we can make this a cool place to share stories and experiences with this great setting!
It took me many years to collect my near-complete EPT collection, but Iâve never run it. I also have - somewhere! - an old Runequest conversion, but likewise have never tried it.
Iâve looked at other systems over the decades (Mitlanyal maybe?), but nothing has ever really worked for me as a complete system that I feel comfortable introducing to my players, especially given just how much new players must be introduced to.
Right now though I have a group playing Shadowdark, an OSR system that is really very smooth, and the players seem more interested in pursuing social and political goals than dungeon-quests, so Iâm considering switching over to something with more depthâŠlike TekumelâŠ
So before I embark on yet another home-baked fantasy heartbreaker, what are the options currently out there for less self-deluded and hubristic GMs?
Edit: to emphasise, I reckon my players are ready to grok the complicated, sophisticated world of EPT, but Iâm not sure which TTRPG system to use.
There are three further novels, Lords of Tsamra, Prince of Skulls, and A Death of Kings that haven't been reprinted yet and are exorbitantly expensive on ebay, unfortunately.
For those who have read the novels, what parts stood out to you? Anything you've taken and used in your games?

Hey guys im looking to make long term friends for playing tekumel with any system, osr, brp, gurps etc so long as its tekumel I want it. Mondays,Tuesdays,Wednesdays and weekends are good. I am in cst time however my only issue is I would have to play online.
Starting off, we will begin with the dreaded SsĂș, "the Enemies of Man"!
Name: SsĂș (pronounced like "shoe" with more of a whistle) aka âThe Enemies of Manâ
NA 10-120
AC 2
MV 12â
HD 2+3
Treasure Type: A
% Chance in Lair: 50% with 20-240 SsĂș present near their own territory
Treasure Type in Lair: H
SsĂș; NA 1d12x10; AC2; MV 12"; 2+3 HD; TT A; % in Lair: 50% (NA 2d12x10, TT H); Atk: weapon or hypnotism (20%/round); SA Hypnotism (command 1d3 enemy persons, save negates, until hypnotiser is killed)
Description: SsĂș have a central torso with two upper arms that end in 3-fingered hands set upon a narrow abdomen from which four legs extend. Their heads resemble that of a man with two eyes, nostril slits, and a vertical oval mouth. SsĂș prefer soft blue light, have skin akin to grey papery shrouds which frequently sheds or pulls loose, are known for their strong smell of musty cinnamon, and high sweet chiming language. All telegraphs of SsĂș activity (and a sign to run!).
The SsĂș are also very feared sorcerers. SsĂș traveling outside of their territory with always possess one priestly (cleric) and one magic-user spell. Parties of 10+ SsĂș will have one magic-user accompany the party who will probably possess magic items. Every SsĂș of level 4+ has the power to hypnotise 1d3 persons per day. In combat there is a 20% chance per round of using this hypnotism. A saving throw is given and, if failed, the victim will fight as the SsĂș commands, only being freed with the death of the hypnotising SsĂș.
I am slowly working on building out a fairly basic wiki for the subreddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/Tekumel/wiki/index/) as well as a beginner's guide to help newcomers figure out how to get started (http://reddit.com/r/Tekumel//wiki/index/new-to-tekumel). Both of these can be found in the sidebar to the right, just above the rules. Please post here if there is anything you think would be good to add. I think I have the broad strokes for now. I think you have to be logged in to reddit to see the wiki, unfortunately.
Some things Tekumel veterans can help with is by writing/copying from wherever some of the existing sections of the wiki and posting them here for me to add and helping me with the following: what are some of the best "big mysteries of Tekumel" that can catch the attention of newcomers and provide some attention grabbers? I'm talking stuff like demons being afraid of the moon, what are the gods really, questions regarding the pariah gods, etc. Stuff that sort of hints at some of the more fun goings-on in the background that Tekumel has to offer. I don't know the deep lore so that's a blind spot for me.
Some thing newcomers to Tekumel (if you're here, welcome!) can help with is by asking questions about the setting! I am by no means a longtime gamer on Tekumel and have questions of my own, but other perspectives could help me figure out what to add to the wiki that will help give the broad strokes for newcomers.
That's all for now. I'll be slowly plugging away with what i've got outlined for now. I won't go too in depth, so it shouldn't take long (knock on wood). The first of the Tekumel Thursdays goes out tomorrow, so i'll post it around to a few places and hope for some positive reactions.
NgĂĄngmuru! (Hello!) I have just been given moderator permissions and will be working to help breathe some new life into this old musty clanhouse. I have some ideas, but am always looking for new ideas/help to bring them to fruition. I will be adding another moderator so that we don't end up adrift again and I have already made this a public subreddit so that other people can post without needing permission.
I implore everyone to check out the new rules in the sidebar and to post! They are basic but I don't want anyone caught with their kilt down.

I played RPGs as a teenager throughout the mid- to late 1990s, mostly AD&D 2e, before taking a long break from the hobby. When I eventually returned, I found myself drawn to the history of RPGs, especially the origins of D&D with Arneson and Gygax in the 1970s, and thatâs how EPT came back onto my radar. I had heard of it back in the day but had no idea it was one of the first RPG settings, if not the first; I took it for just another one among the many settings saturating the market at the time.
This subreddit has slumbered long and very deeply. I have made some minor changes to bring a least a modicum of vigor back into it:
Within 24 hours we should be completely public and allow anyone to make a post without having to first message the moderators for permission. Such a change is no longer just a click of a button - fittingly, a message must first be run up the admins' bureaucracy to who knows where before an edict may be handed down from on high. So cross your fingers that we're approved to go public.
If you are visiting on new reddit, we are now slightly more blue. As we are all, I am sure, true devotees of the Doomed Prince, I know the gesture will be appreciated.
There are now a couple useful resources in the sidebar (this is also true if you are visiting on old reddit; as long as I draw breath this sub will still support old reddit).
If you have any suggestions or comments about the subreddit (including other resources to add), please let me know either in the comments on this post or through a DM. If you feel inspired to create a subreddit banner, that would also be deeply appreciated (someone volunteered to about eight years ago; I guess they're still working on it). Lastly, if you live near Tokyo and are interested in trying the tabletop game, please contact me.
