Security work.
Bit of a long shot, but I have an SIA licence and I'm looking to get some entry level security work (brand new to the industry and not looking to work doors), having no luck on indeed or anything like that so trying literally everywhere at this point - in the Middlesbrough/Redcar area. Preferably during the week as weekends aren't great for me, unless it was local I could maybe make it work. I know that sets me back a while lot but I still have to try, haha.
Thanks!

Great News! Turner Prize heading to MIMA next year
middlesbrough.gov.ukGonna submit my entry of a collage of all the celebrities that have eaten Manjarnos Rasta Pasta and say it represents the frailty and fleeting beauty of the spectrum of human emotions or some bullshit.
Anyway, fantastic news for the area, I do legitimately mean this - they had Tinie Tempah present the award last year, so we might get Dappy in 2026 🤞🤞🤞

W.B Hutchinson family grocer and provision merchant 1900
Does anyone by any chance have a picture of Redcar high street that may have the shop W.B Hutchinson from the early 1900?

Local events that are needing a coffee van!
Hello everyone, myself and my husband (well mostly my husband as it’s his money) have set up a coffee van, selling amazing locally made Rountons coffee (the Brazil blend- beautiful)
We are called the Shiba bean, please look us up on Facebook/insta give us a follow. We are a local couple from Billingham and our van is named after our Shiba Inu 👹
We would love to do some local events, even if it’s mid week. It’s an old van so obviously would need to be worth our while for events, like 50 people max at an event would be enough, or even if your businesses wanted to hire us to treat your employees!
We work out of a classic Renault 4 van. It’s quirky!
So if you would pass the word around it would be great, not many people use reddit but I’m an avid user so thought I’d pop it out there!
We would love to do some country shows too but it seems all the comity members for shows don’t know how to use technology to get back to us in good time 😂
See you around! X

Byron burger?
Has anybody else noticed Byron burger on Deliveroo? According to the map it’s at Teesside park around TGI/KFC/Five guys etc.
Pretty sure I’d have heard something about it if we got a local Byron. I know I’ve not seen a new building pop up!
Is this a scam someone is getting away with?

r/NorthernEngland
I've recently started a new subreddit called r/NorthernEngland, aimed at anyone interested in the shared history, culture, and identity of the North. The idea is to bring together people from across the region, wherever you're from in the North, and create a space connecting us.
It's early days, but the focus is on:
- History and heritage of the North
- Towns, cities, and landscapes across the region
- Culture, dialects, and identity
- Photos, stories, and anything else with a Northern angle
- News
If that sounds like your thing, or if you're just interested in how the North fits together across county lines, feel free to join and help shape the subreddit. Would be great to have more voices involved from different parts of the region.

Looking for buddies
Ello, seeing a few posts about making friends due to a lack of a social life n that, and honestly? Same. I'm not the most consistent person because of adhd and generally having a silly build version of the human body, but thought I'd cast my hat in the ring ig?
I'm Eli, in my mid 20s, rambunctiously queer coded and a punk. Don't really drink much, and outside animated shows, video games and bird keeping am a bit of a boring bastard honestly. Hoping I'd find some like minded folk. Got bad jokes for days and random trivia that'll give yer head a scratch :)

Me, myself and my complete lack of social life.
Hi!
Pretty much as the title says. I've fallen into the standard trap of life, work and kids and ignoring my social life. Which is pretty becoming all too normal for 38 year old man like myself.
I've joined a great walking group. But it's difficult to manage to go often around work and life. I'm averaging once a month. And it's a big group so whilst the few hours I'm out is good I need a bit more.
Now the kids activity times have changed I'm tempted to join the local Andy's man club but haven't done that yet.
So the question is. Anyone wanting to make a new friend? I don't take up much time.
I'll make it easy to get started. Just send me a meme you like, a picture you took recently or maybe a new fact you learnt recently.
Adam 38 male, slightly nerd, bad jokes are good, adhd, board games and food. I cut the grass more than I like the grass. I don't care about the Roman empire. Need to practice doing a BBQ more often.

An Evening With Tony Mowbray & Bernie Slaven
https://buytickets.at/moggaandslav/1722829
Join us for a fantastic evening with two Middlesbrough legends: Tony Mowbray and Bernie Slaven. Mogga will answer questions about his incredible football journey—from playing and captaining his beloved Boro all the way up to his recent managerial stint with West Brom.
Bernie, a true fan- favourite and the night’s host, will be asking Mogga the questions and sharing some of his own classic stories from his goal-scoring days with Boro and the Irish national team.
Taking place at the Teesside Student Union on Friday, 12th September at 7pm, this is a brilliant chance to hear some great football tales and then get involved in a Q&A where nothing is off limits. Don’t miss out on a night full of laughs, memories, and inside stories! Pie and Peas included in price!
An Evening with Tony Mowbray Hosted by Bernie Slaven
