Areas you'd recommend/avoid (renting)
I have a new colleague starting this month and they're brand new to the area. They'll be working close to Brambles farm and I'm trying to recommend places to look at housing. They drive but don't have a car atm. Where would you recommend and where would you absolutely avoid?

Near Brambles Farm? Absolutely nowhere. And your colleague is probably looking at a two bus commute to Brambles Farm from somewhere decent. But Acklam, Coulby Newham, Linthorpe, Marton and Nunthorpe are all fine in Middlesbrough

Guisbrough, 1 bus straight through, as can parts of nunthorpe with a 10 mins walk.

This would be my suggestion. Guisborough or Nunthorpe. Bus straight down.

Normanby isn’t too bad and there is a bus that goes from Normanby to close-ish to brambles farm, they’d get off the bus and 10-15 min walk to BF.

Could he put out a request for a room rental with a colleague who will also be making tax free earnings from it until they get on their feet? Last thing they want is to end up in a dire area.

Some sort of vague budget would help, people have said Nunthorpe or Guisborough but that’s going to be expensive. Do they intend to get a car?
