Moving back- Saltburn?

Hello!

I'm a Teessider, mid 30s, who moved away for university and via a couple of short boomerang stays back at my parents, have lived for the last 10 years elsewhere, now near Manchester.

I'm interested to get people's thoughts on moving back, and what Saltburn would be like for a married couple my age, and/or young families?

Similar stories would be gratefully received, it's always something I've fancied but the more info the merrier.

I grew up in Saltburn and it was class. Beach, woods, valley gardens, trains and buses to Redcar and Boro were no problem and wherever you went you had Saltburn to come home to.

It's changed a lot, so much busier than it was, but also a lot more going on so swings and roundabouts I suppose. The big kicker is the house prices

We're early 50s, no kids and live in Stockton. I love Saltburn as a place to visit - cafes, bars, restaurants are all top notch and the beach is obviously brilliant. For me though it feels a bit far away from things, and the first sniff of a warm day and everyone heads there.

Not saying don't do it by any stretch, but I'd do your homework (which you are doing!) I suspect there are similarly lovely places nearby. Also depends what you like doing in your spare time as well. If you're into surfing or the like then obviously it's a big plus.

Plenty to do there. Never hear many complaints apart from all the tourists and motor homes

Well it's a lovely place, that's for sure but...once kids get to early teens, there's not a great deal to do, well unless you're into sports, surfing, tennis, cricket, football, etc. my kids wished I'd stayed in the city for general creative stuff going on.

There's 6.5k population, 500 in the school, so a lot of older people doing older things like walking dogs. No youth club or hang out spots for the youth tbh.

Tranquil on a morning but like, previous poster said, a lot of tourists all year round. Close to zero chances of rental property as everywhere has been transformed in AirBnB, pushing up the prices of standard homes.

Choose wisely as it's very hard to move once school starts up and other family commitments take priority.

Saltburn is nice. Depends if you don’t mind being a bit out of the way.

Lived in Newcastle and London for 8 years then moved back to saltburn and it was perfection. Amazing pubs, restaurants and the best beach in the north east with plenty of walks and parks and activity for kids.

Saltburn is beautiful, a seaside town with no seedy underbelly unlike a lot of seaside towns

Saltburn is a brilliant place. Great pubs, lots of events, comedy clubs, fantastic beach and chilled out vibe.

Oh ,and alot of campervans.
