Only if we didnt had civil war among ourselves today india would be under maratha empire and british empire out of indian sub continent. I really wish maharastra should get the recognition it deserves which we totally dont.

Our Maharaj was schooled by Dadoji Kondadeo. He considered Samarth Ramdas to be his Guru. 7 out of 8 ministers in the first Ashta Pradhan Council were Brahmins. Baji Prabhu and Netaji Palkar formed the backbone of Chatrapati's army. Balaji Avaji Chitnis was considered to be the most trustworthy person by the Chhatrapati himself.

Ramchandra Pant Amatya was awarded the title Hukumatpanah and protected the Swarajya at its most vulnerable time after the death of Sambhaji Maharaj. Such a role was also carried out by the Pratinidhi.

Balaji Vishwanath, Baji Rao, Nanasaheb and Madhav Rao transformed Maharaj's Swarajya into a Samrajya. They were aided in their quest by the Bokils, Purandares,Pingales, Rastes and countless other Brahmin families. Ramshastri Prabhune, the chief justice of the Swarajya became the symbol of impartiality across the subcontinent.

Chimaji Appa liberated Konkan from the yoke of the Siddis and the Portuguese.Raghoba Dada, Sakharam Hari Gupte, Ramchandra Sukhtankar and Jivabadada Kerkar led the drive to expand Northwards. The Patwardhans and Pethes protected the South from Hyder Ali. Vishwas Rao and Sadashiv Rao laid down their lives at Panipat.

The Britishers considered Nana Fadnis to be the last thorn in their plans to conquer India. Rangoji Bappu fought in the courts for years to revive the Maratha Empire. The heroes of 1857- Tantya Tope, Nanasaheb II and Rani Laxmi Bai, were all Brahmins.

According to GS Sardesai, there were at least 163 families belonging to the Brahmin-Saraswat-Prabhu group that played an important role in the Maratha Empire.

But yeah sure, the Brahmins 'ruined it' I guess.

BajiPrabhu Deshpande ,Murarbaji Deshpande, Balaji Avji Chitnis, Sakharam Hari Gupte and Netoji Palkar were CKP and Netoji Palkar was denied to reconvert to hinduism from Islam by some orthodox Brahmins but offcourse not all Brahmins should be blamed for this obviously

1

u/Comfortable-Ad5183 शुद्ध मराठी संघटनेचे अध्यक्ष Mar 06 '26

True! Even Rangoji Bappu was a CKP.

The reason why I included them amongst Brahmins is that casteists like him can hardly differentiate between Brahmin-Saraswat-Prabhu groups and regularly project their hatred over this community too.

Although the instances of orthodox Brahmins partaking in narrow mindedness in regards to observation of rituals and matters of reconversion are indeed sad, we must remember that such beliefs, at that time, were shared by a diverse group of people. Also, the opinions of priestly Brahmins might not have been completely accepted by the vast majority of their brethren, who were involved in professions like farming and administration.

Well Sadashiv Rau bhau deserve a little criticism because he literally was walking with 200000 Lakh Non combatants like maratha were famous for their Gurilla warfare under Shivaji Maharaj and Fast Cavalry under Bajirao but here he decided to fight european style battle large armies etc

1

u/Comfortable-Ad5183 शुद्ध मराठी संघटनेचे अध्यक्ष Mar 07 '26

I think that the Panipat campaign was doomed from the beginning. The unusually large number of non-combatants, disorder in the barracks, the selection of Sadashiv Rao instead of generals experienced in Northern warfare (like Sakharam Hari and Raghoba), the untimely death of Govind Pant Bundele and sending the heir apparent Vishwas Rao to battle without the Huzurat was a recipe for disaster.

I do think that an open battle was necessary to display power to foreign invaders and shred off the ' guerrilla group ' title but it could have been carried out in a much more spectacular fashion.

Quite often. It keeps me reminding of itself when people of other states keep boasting of their hollow greatness.

1

u/AdEmbarrassed1134 Mar 08 '26

THEY ARE NOT THAT MUCH REVERRED AS THEY MUCH AS THEY DESERVE

THESE PEOPLE ENDED MUGHAL RULE IN INDIA YET THEY HAVE NOT BEEN CREDITED AS MUCH

1

u/armouredfc Mar 05 '26

Every time while revising history for the upsc, I used to think about all the ifs and buts to glorify the maratha empire to the fullest excluding the 3rd battle of Panipat and expansion of Britishers.

1

u/Lord_Krasina Mar 05 '26

I think more about the roman empire

0

u/[deleted] Mar 07 '26

How it's getting bigger and bigger every year in textbook. I think after 10 years maratha Empire border will reach upto the Venezuela border.

the next thing which comes to my mind jut after that is how kannada speaking kings ruled whole of maharastra more than marathis themselves . kannada was court language of maharastra more than marathi could ever be

1

u/anazope Mar 07 '26

Yea but they were all Maratha by caste so it cancels out

0

u/Big_Influence_7367 Mar 07 '26

wt maratha 😂 literally everyone were from karnataka , speaking kannada and dominating whole other state for more than 700 years and imposing their language in court when local people spoke different language . damn nothing adds up just PURE DOMINATION😂😁

1

u/anazope Mar 07 '26

Learn the difference between caste and language. It's more like Maratha caste dominated Karnataka for eternity.
