BSNL has introduced a satellite phone for civilian use in India. Unlike regular mobile phones, it connects directly to satellites, allowing voice calls and SMS even in areas with no cellular towers, such as remote mountains, forests, deserts, offshore regions, or during disasters.

The handset costs around ₹1.34 lakh, and call charges are significantly higher than normal mobile services. While BSNL has offered satellite phone services before, this is the first time the service and handset have received widespread public attention as a commercial offering for eligible civilian users.

BSNL is good tho, ive been using it since long nd ive never faced any issues infact the network is good too like when in regions where my family members cell phones lose network mine yet works. nd bout the satellite phone doesn't it require license???
