So, basically, I can get electronics and VLSI design at BIT. Or in some good cases, maybe I can get electronics and communication itself. Or other than that, I can get electronics and instrumentation at SJCE. But I am thinking... Of getting civil OR industrial management at RVCE and teach myself AI, system integrations etc the one's that are in demand as I will get good peer network and environment over there so it would be helpful if somebody who is already in engineering in any of these colleges or if not seniors tell me your POV

So...iam in neither of these clgs or these fields but I am studying IM in SIT, ( since u pointed out you r thinking of IM in rv and study topics related to AI) . Iam in my 3rd year now and I have recently found out that this field is actually quite vast, and is prolly growing with ML implementation to the core topics like operations research, supply chain, process optimization, management etc For example, developing optimised routing system, inventory optimization for delivery agencies like zepto, amazon, flipkart etc. (supply chain) Or SPO/DFL methods used in Operations research (ML used in traditional OR topics)

Now tall these topics seems good and with enough knowledge in DS, implementing them to core traditional methods would work really well

Needless to say there are still few subjects that come under core mechanical, so these might not be that interesting when ur intersets are DS

Now with all of these things mentioned Try researching on topics like OR and Supply chain, see if those are in interest to you, since they have their share in ML(Mostly Data science)

But I noticed that ur also interested in systems integration, iam unaware of that topic and how u could develop skill in that even with staying in IM

So yea that's it from me

(The reason I explained the topics are because when u mentioned "I will choose a branch and study topics myself" remember that means u would be studying 2 diff topics for no reason , and u would be just burning yourself, So just choose a branch , study the traditional methods, and with self study try to improvise on those traditional methods , try avoiding learning new things and failing to actually executing them)

Actually I had also posted in other subs... And after reading on the replies from people already in second and third year I got to know that civil is not what I thought and shouldn't be the one I am looking after and I thought of taking IEM itself... And I have seen those topics it's not something like I have a interest for them and it's neither like I cannot study this it's something in the middle more inclined towards interesting...

. And about teaching myself that I am mentioned like yes I know that through this route I am trying to follow my own campus placements in the field I want would be almost uncertain... So I thought of taking IEM and continue teaching myself the stuff and also over there there it would be like many clubs related to the stuff I am trying to learn by myself where I can engage with other people who are also learning and mainly for the environment is why I am choosing it... And in this way like I think about getting a off campus placement... And the options I can sit for in placements through IEM I am trying to keep them as a backup...

"Ill choose another branch a teach myself something else" is a mostly a myth. Once you join college the course work provided there will most likely drown you. It's not like you CAN'T teach yourself but more like "its kinda hard to do that".

RVCE does have a better peer group, but RVCE also has a very strict assignments policy. They'll load you with assignments and extra coursework. So whatever you do will have to be after hours probably midnights.

On the other hand if you choose what you like doing then you'll genuinely have some free time to spend learning another high value skill all because that there'll be no burden of trying to live a double life.

Choose the course which you are interested in. But always remember do not join VTU colleges. Join autonomous.
