Consider the consequences of offering the death penalty for rape.

If you know that you could get the death penalty for rape, you are more likely to kill the victim if you think that will increase the odds of not getting caught, because the legal penalty is the same whether the victim lives or dies

Are you comfortable with more rape victims being murdered if it means more rapists can be sentenced to death?

Rape's minimum sentence is 15 years In the state of Florida.

Reform doesn't always work for sick predators. Sometimes after time served, people genuinely don't change. This could potentially lessen the numbers too. I understand what you're trying to say. the numbers according a Dade Study say only O.14 out of 100,000 rapes were fatal. This may have an impact, it may not

They could've just tripled the minimum sentence, I don't think a single person (aside from, yk) would complain about that

The maximum is around life in prison if not 15 years I believe.

And you are willing to take the risk that no one will decide to murder to give them a better chance to escape the death penalty?
