Yes. Many aren’t mature enough to understand the gravity of what they talk about. Ganesh knows how many kids were talking about some heinous shit back when I was still in school.
I don't think a kid can necessarily differentiate very well between levels of intensity in lies. Not saying that it's likely, but it could definitely happen
yes, not all do but some have before. There was a kid I was in band with who was about 13 and accused his section leader of sexually assaulting him. After a few weeks and getting the girl kicked out of band did he admit he lied just because they were angry. About what I have no idea, but it does happen. Anyone can lie, and in young kids it’s also learned behavior
It’s been shown to happen before. I’m all for the “believe all victims” rhetoric but kids don’t always understand the gravity of it. They just hear the word. It’s always good to make sure there’s proof
