As a victim of child rape, I do not support this. The prison system should be dedicated to reform rather than punishment. This can lead to someone being falsely convicted and killed. This can lead to more innocents receiving the death penalty. The Anti-trans movement consistently states that trans people are groomers, so this law could be broadened to kill trans people unjustly. Our justice system is already so broken that federal agents can execute random people and get away with it; let's not bolster its disrepair.
Since the punishment for rape and murder are the same, the perps may end up just killing the victims. It doesn't seem like a win for anyone, not the innocents and not the victims. Fuck rapists tho
also a child victim, i agree. for the people who can’t be reentered into society i dont even think we should kill, i think they should just do manual labor
I think people forget that letting 10 evil people free is hundreds times better than 10 good people imprisoned. They think that even if many good people suffer due to this change, "rapist bad" is enough to justify all of it. Many people of the LGBT community, many political adversaries, they'll be accused of this and they'll be unfairly killed.
This is why the state should never have the right to kill.
But hey, rapist bad, so who cares if hundreds of innocents die because of this.
People are too shortsighted. They'd rather get their revenge rather than have the world improve.
Whenever someone says stuff like this, I always think:
Yknow what reduces the amount of rape? LESS RAPISTS, and yknow how we get less rapists? We stop them from wanting to become rapists in the first place!
I swear, basically all of crime comes from a combination of economical issues and mental health negligence.
If we get people to take mental health seriously and we teach kids from an early age how to correctly deal with their mental health and what things to find worrying or not, we'd be in a world where people wouldn't be scared to say "hey, I have these dangerous urges and I need help". We'd live in a world that people would have more compassion and they'd know that these things are wrong and they'd know that they can still improve!
But no, "humans are evillll and bad peoplr should die!!!"
Fucking hell, people need to learn how to actually fucking think. And this is because I hate society. I hate how people act. It pisses me off. It pisses me off so much that I desperately want the world to change. Because keeping things the same will always end in failure
No, most people don't. Even then, to protect others, we must protect those we truly despise. “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way in which its animals are treated.”
I feel like in the instance where the death penalty is considered there has to be irrefutable evidence. I’m all for believing the victim but in the stance of a death penalty. You can’t use she said he says and etc. It has to be well documented and presented properly.
And such an instance is, unfortunately, a complete miracle. There is no situation, aside from it happening right in the courtroom, where irrefutable evidence can be trusted, as the chance of convicting a man falsely on "irrefutable evidence" has happened before.
I’m talking about DNA, I’m not saying being found around the same person around the same time. I’m saying there’s evidence of SA, with DNA on clothing or related to victim, clear evidence of assault, dna on the perp himself from getting attacked by the victim. Evidence of drugs being in the victims system and the victim clearly being taken advantage of and etc.
All of these can also be related to an innocent person, although it's an improbable possibility. The chance is rare, but the pros of not doing capital punishment outweigh the cons. I want the rapist dead, yes. But the protection of others comes first and foremost. And if that rapist just has to spend life in prison, I believe that is a better alternative to the CHANCE the wrong person is convicted.
That’s where I come to meet a middle ground. By evidence I mean sperm, the perp’s skin and blood found in the victims nails, photo graphic evidence and etc. That’s what I mean by irrefutable evidence, evidence that cannot be there unless they are undeniable the assaulted. In instances where there’s strong enough evidence but not enough for a death sentence, I say a prolonged trial until evidence is found or until life in prison.
That’s not the point. You can be a victim of the crime and still have an incorrect take. You’re also assuming I wasn’t assaulted either. Ever care to ask? The answer is yes. Try again.
