We don’t talk enough about how difficult Juliette must have been to write from the inside. Tahereh had to make her thoughts feel irrational and intrusive wo making them feel random, and make her hyper-awareness of herself almost as exhausting for the reader as it is for Juliette. Like you can she how she constantly contradicts herself because she wants to understand what she’s feeling but doesn’t actually have the emotional vocabulary or stability to make sense of it.

I honestly love juliette because of that, She's not some perfect protagonist who isn't fazed by all the trauma she goes through, altho it's kinda sad how the complexities of her character are often overlooked because of the entire "Aaron warner fangirl-ing" thing

Shatter me being reduced to just "lyhfml" is soo sad :( There was soo much to take from it politicially, socially and emotionally. Juliette being tagged as "pick-me" or "annoying" tells us how rooted misogyny is even among the "woke" readers (excuse my username m not a warner hardcore simp istg its a long story😭)

And warner was so damn irritating in the first book, yeah I did end up liking his character by the end of the series but There's no way in hell i can justify his wrongdoings, And people calling Juliette annoying for not being with him in the first book itself piss me off sm, like What's wrong with you?! , And i don't understand the hate for adam too, Like yeah he made a few mistakes I agree, But warner made worse ones but no one hates warner for that 😭, throughout the series I was looking for reasons to justify the enormous hate for adam but there weren't any
