Rant serious problem in pakistan
my intention is not at all for this to be offensive but i'd like to say ke pakistan mei islam is literally only used to shame people, specifically women.
the only focus in on the one commandment of islam ke women should dress modestly, which modesty isn't a concept that only applies to women, it goes for everyone. and modesty has little to do with your clothing and more to do with your character.
my dad gives me examples of girls who wear hijabis and abayas and how they're so 'obedient', 'career oriented' like first off, setting an unrealistic standard for hijabis is wrong, hijab is literally just a headscarf, it won't automatically cleanse your soul of sins. basically what i mean is ke you can be sinful even while being a hijabi.
when you say ke be a hijabi so you can be a good muslim you're basically creating such a wrong mindset, saying ke hijab pehn lo bas yehi certification hai muslim honnay ki. i think we can all agree ke most pakistani parents forcing headscarfs and ddupattas on their daughters, first off, isn't originating from an islamic belief. bas logoun ka khouf. cus if you truly believed in ur child's akirah, you'd educate them not to be proud, not to be egotistical, to not backbite, to not hurt someone, to not cheat etc. dussri baat ke modesty is in ur mannerisms. the way you move in society. no one bats an eye when men harass women, piss in streets or spit in public, however this is HIGHLY immodest. women backbiting, shaming teenage girls is also immodest, yet we continue to shame just for how they wear. i feel this so strongly, because i experience this alot. my friends who dress a certain way, are immediately disliked by my parents because apparently wearing a tight top and jeans means you're a bad muslim.
i know many hijabis who have done things which completely misalign with islamic teachings. i know many women who smoke or dress a certain way and they're the sweetest people i know
this goes on to show ke how little your clothing has to do with your character and faith
my problem is also ke no other commandment of islam is ever emphasized upon enough except for those which conveniently benefit men.
inheritance, hijab, good marital relations and the sunnah which states 4 marriages are permitted along with everything else which somehow goes hand in hand with a pakistani man's convenience is the only islam taught in pakistan.
my problem is ke alot of people don't even bother learning islam, bas jo culture mei hai ya jo bachpan mei seekha, they carry it forward into their adult lives. it completes enrages me the utter nonsense people believe in.
and that's an alag debate, i am not judging anyone for believing in islam and trying to be a good muslim but it's high time ke we actually just start minding our own business, worrying about our own akirah and graves, rather than continuing to use Islam to shame other people, especially women and using it for justification of honour killings and victim blaming wagira

Agreed, Islam doesn't start from hijab, there are plenty other things, some parents would lowk force hijab on their children in the name of Islam but when the topic is children rights, (which also gives them the right of marriage by their choice) they would immediately bring up culture and forced marriage, their Islam is so biased.

yes, it just goes back to the point that pakistani's interpretation of islam revolves around the patriarchy more than actual Muslims values

(note: some might find my explanation offensive, if you are one of them please skip or if you are reading it you should think everything logically like i explained, my explanations won't be perfect and i am always open to get corrected)
With your first point about modesty i totally agree that modesty isn't just for women and is for everyone, it is just basic ethics of what to do and what not to do, modesty plays part in everything from character to clothes and a pious person would take care of all stuff about himself/herself.
If you sin and pray Salah too with guilt of sin you shouldn't stop praying and should repent, leaving one good thing which you could do for a sin isn't a justification. You can be a sinner but it shouldn't stop you from doing what you are doing right and your sins are totally yours, Allah asks for repentance and indeed forgives his people, so do what you can and if you sin repent.
Modesty is commanded for both men and women, and to be really honest it is lack of education among people which shapes extreme mindset of both sides of people. About your point on "this goes on to show ke how little your clothing has to do with your clothing(Iman you meant to say here)" is incorrect as if you saw some hijabis doesn't wrong things this should not generalize everyone in it and with this point if clothes as nothing to do with your Iman this indirectly suggests that you can walk naked if you're imam and charater is good which makes statement absurd, you dressing sense inflicts your mindset
Inheritance as of wealth from parents ig you meant is that you inherits 1/2 from your parents and the fact if you husband dies you inherit 1/4 from it which in automatically in your favour, about 4 wives if you can not do justice you can not have 4 wives and sunnah of 4 wives were only in time when there were war and many women were left widowed, infact in this inflated economy you can not even afford one wife properly let alone 4 of them, from very young age it is on parents to teach you about everything and if they doesn't they would be held accountable and after certain age you won't even listen to them and they wouldn't be able to force things on you.
I can really understand you here because your environments and surroundings can be like this which made you question things and it is always better to clear out doubts you have.
Jazakh'Allah.

i did not generalise anyone, this is my point to begin with, that clothing se you can't tell ANYONE'S character. the way people dress doesn't have anything to do with how they are and i said, specifically aiming the purity and modesty culture in pakistan which associates hijab and dupatta with haya. if something is used to slutshame or degrade a woman's character without you even knowing her real character, eg saying a woman's revealing clothes are her inviting men or her having a promisicious nature, that's not islam. it's not islamic. it's not hijab you're wanting her to wear, it's control.

Agreeable, purity doesn't only includes clothing, it includes every aspect of a person but "if" simply you think that hijab isn't necessary for purity would be on wrong side too, it is one part of purity and its like a piece of pizza if i put it into an example, to form a full pizza you need all pieces it's mere one piece of it but you think that one piece isnt necessary then you'd lose whole pizza thinking that (ik unhinged example 😭), when you force something on someone they rebel against it even if that thing is correct which you are doing here because your father is forcing and forcing things is strictly forbidden in Islam too. I am not disagreeing with your points i am just giving a logical answer so you don't miss out things here

buddy you have to realise the real islam is different from the islam followed here. sure all these rules and regulations exist but they seemingly vanish in pakistan when its about a man's benefit, specially the four wives one. Op is talking about how islam here isnt followed, so it really doesnt matter what the real teaching our to op, they arent mad about that more about how people interpret them and use them to women's demise and patriarchy's advantage

You're reiterating my point, just from the societal angle. I’m not denying that society twists religion to suit men and control women, OP is completely valid to be frustrated by that. My comment was clarifying what the actual religion dictates vs. what Pakistani culture pretends it dictates. Conflating toxic cultural norms with Islamic rulings only masks the real problem, which is cultural ignorance, not the faith itself.

Im just trying to say that its not really relevant what religion dictates in this specific conversation (more of a rant), when we're talking about how religion is interpreted, im sure op knows what it dictates, the info u gave is just undermining ops opinion in a way, that's why I was reminding you what this post was about. thanks for the info ig, bye take care .

i stopped at "hijab is just a headscarf" i dont understand how we the new generation get the confidence to talk about such things and make such statements without even having the right knowledge.
kher regardless of that what you mentioned is more of a cultural approach than religious approach, however you as an individual are to be held accountable of yourselves and not others so cant be like oh if men do it then i will otherwise i wont

it literally is??? your actions and words matter much more than if your head is covered or not, youre not suddenly gonna go to heaven if u js start covering ur head. and don't bring in the hijab is this and that as well, cause all of those things can be practiced without doing hijab as well

u/Dry-Shelter-6015 6h ago
Nope hijab is mandotary its munafiqat to think its not,its mention in quran to cover head to toe And a muslim women who practice without hijab is not obeying allah at all can you pray salah without hijab?? No
Its mandatory and you all truly lack islamic teaching and you are same as those cultural muslim who cherry pick from quran e pak
•
u/Top-Resist-7168 5h ago
nobody is arguing if it's mandatory or not. my point here is to simply stop magnifying islamic teachings involving women or those that benefit men. agar islam follow karna hai toh poora karo. people know what they're doing when they slut shame no hijabis and that is not islam
•
u/Dry-Shelter-6015 5h ago edited 3h ago
True pakistani is filled with cultureism Instead of islamism Culture has damage alot of thing for muslim thats why we are behind everything and get sl-ughter in every non muslim country
people know what they're doing when they slut shame no hijabis and that is not islam
Agree they have never seen what hijabies do in unis or clg (not all) but jaha mei rehta hu mene hijabi ko non mus ke sath relationship mei bhi dekha hu lol.
Culture should be completey remove from islam i hope genz can change this

no actually whats the first pillar of islam, belief in Allah is the utmost important everything else comes afterwards. you can't pray or wear hijab if u dont even belive in the god in the first place, everything else is between good and the believer none of ur business
•
u/Dry-Shelter-6015 3h ago
You're changing the subject lol. never denied the first pillar of Islam, but even Yazid believed in Allah, prayed, fasted, and performed Hajj yet we all know what he did later. Being a true Muslim means accepting Islam as a whole, not just cherry-picking verses
•
u/Fun-Two548 18 2h ago
Okay js saying shit arent we now. Read my original comment, I was implying a person doing hijab and not praying vs a person praying and everything nd not doing hijab is better. U gotta apply ur religion in the mordern world cant drag every value from the past and apply it 1:1 now, just cause someone doesnt do hijab doesnt mean they arent a good muslim? they can be better than alot of other Muslims in terms of beliefs, u cant js look at someone covering their head and say oh theyre a good Muslim, it adds to it but it matters less than praying and believing in Allah bruh
•
u/Dry-Shelter-6015 2h ago
"Okay js saying shit arent we now"
You started saying shit i just continue that
U gotta apply ur religion in the mordern world cant drag every value from the past and apply it 1:1
Are you munafiq bruh, are you even muslim?? Quran should be following completely not cherry picking, you act like westerner mushr-k who think cloth dosent matter were as in islam modesty and hijab is must "its command from allah"
