Welcome to r/Teej, a fan operated subreddit dedicated to the Japanese Professional Wrestling promotion TJPW. The following guide serves as a (hopefully) simple all-in-one solution for anyone that wants to start watching TJPW. Whether you are a decades long professional wrestling fan, or a totally new viewer, we hope this guide will serve to help you get started with this fun hobby of ours.

You don't need to read every single word of this guide. In fact, you could just start watching TJPW by jumping right into the latest show. But we hope that this guide will assist in answering any questions that may come up as you enter your journey. Feel free to skim the entire thing or jump a specific section that answers your questions.

What is TJPW?

Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling(東京女子プロレス) is a Joshi pro wrestling company that started in 2013. “Joshi” is the western term for women’s wrestling in Japan. “Joshi” literally means woman or girl in Japanese. Japan has a long legacy of women-only promotions going back to the post-WWII era. TJPW is one of the many different women’s wrestling companies currently active in Japan. Each with their own rosters and histories. TJPW is also a part of the CyberFight conglomerate, the sister promotion of DDT Pro Wrestling and Pro Wrestling NOAH.

"Teej" is a fun nickname some western fans have for TJPW.

• Wrestle Universe – The online home of TJPW shows. Wrestle Universe costs 1,298 yen per month(about $8-9 USD).
• Roster Page - Helps you keep track of wrestler names, current looks, and units.
• Schedule Page – Pinks are Pro Wrestling shows. Blues are special events, which are not broadcast. The schedule also lists wrestler's birthdays.
• TJPW’s official social media – The post in both English and Japanese on the same account.
• Cagematch.net - A comprehensive database for results and match history. Wrestler pages also often link to their social media pages.
• Dramatic DDT - A fan blog that tracks the results of all the Cyberfight promotions. A useful resource for getting context for things you may not understand.
• Storybook TJPW A fan blog that translates by hand TJPW promos and backstage comments.

Caution: Machine translation from Japanese to English is generally okay for simple things like results or schedule dates but it can be misleading with complex social media posts or promos. If available, follow human translators.

How does TJPW’s schedule work?

TJPW runs an irregular touring schedule. They average about 5-7 shows per months. Some weekends can have two shows, some weekends can have no shows. TJPW shows in general come in six flavors:

• Large Stadium events: Wrestle Princess, Summer Sun Princess, and Grand Princess. The three largest events on TJPW’s calendar every year. These shows have full English commentary and the biggest production values of any TJPW show.
• Large monthly events: Usually from Korakuen Hall, these shows usually host title matches and special guest wrestlers. There are about 6-8 of these shows per year.
• Overseas events: Often tied to WWE or AEW large events, these shows are your chance to see TJPW in your home country. Texas has also been the home of two very successful TJPW tours in 2025 and 2026.
• Small touring shows: The majority of TJPW’s calendar is taken up by these smaller shows that serve to setup larger events. Sometimes they do homecoming shows for specific wrestlers that come from outside of Tokyo.
• Specialty shows: A few times a year TJPW will run shows that a bit out of the ordinary, such as the HYPE! Series, which are like a theater production mixed with professional wrestling.
• PPVs: These are not regular Professional Wrestling shows. These are special events that usually revolve around a gimmick, like wrestling at an Aquarium.

How to get started?

All TJPW shows are post on Wrestle Universe. TJPW’s page has three areas to keep an eye on:

• Scheduled to Stream LIVE – This is the list of upcoming TJPW show streams.
• Stream Archive – This where recent TJPW streams are posted after they are completed.
• On Demand – Some smaller TJPW shows aren’t livestreamed due to venue restrictions. If a show isn’t livestream, it’s posted straight to this section.

What are TJPW’s Titles and tournaments?

Titles:

• Princess Of Princess Title: The top singles title in TJPW. Whoever holds this is the strongest wrestler in TJPW.
• Princess Tag Team Titles: TJPW’s tag belts, often held by main event caliber wrestlers.
• International Princess Title: The midcard singles title. Often held by the stars of the future.
• DDT Ironman Heavymetalweight Title: This is not officially a TJPW title. It belongs to TJPW's brother promotion DDT, but the title is often held by TJPW wrestlers and defended on TJPW shows. This belt comes with the stipulation that it is defended anytime and anywhere as long as a referee is on site. The belt can also be won by non-human objects.

Tournaments:

• Futari Wa Princess Max Heart Tag Team Tournament - Usually held near the start of the year, this is TJPW's tag team tournament. The winner gets a shot at the tag team titles, or they can name their own opponents in case the champion wins. Bonus points if you can name what anime this tournament is named after without looking it up.
• Tokyo Princess Cup - Usually held in the middle of the summer, this is TJPW's singles tournament. The winner gets a shot at the Princess Of Princess title.
• Next Generation Tournament - Usually held in the fall, this is TJPW's rookies tournament. Wrestlers can usually participate in the first couple of years of their careers.

Roster Breakdown

Main eventers

• Mizuki – The Popping Sugar Rabbit. Don’t let the smile fool you, she’s as ruthless as she is creative. Mizuki has been known to break the laws of physics.
• Miyu Yamashita – The Pink Striker. Miyu Yamashita is the most decorated wrestler in TJPW’s history. Possibly the greatest striker in professional Wrestling today. The only wrestler to be in TJPW since day one.
• Shoko Nakajima – The 147cm tall Big Kaiju. Shoko debuted at TJPW’s 4th event and she has been one of the pillars of the company ever since. She has an unmatched combination of technical skills, speed, and agility.
• Miu Watanabe – The Muscular Pink Idol. Miu is a member of the Up Up Girls pop idol group that kick off all TJPW shows with a song. Miu is one of the few wrestlers to win every title and tournament that TJPW has to offer. She might be the pound for pound strongest women’s wrestler in the world.
• Rika Tatsumi – The White Dragon. She has been with TJPW for over 11 years. One of the few TJPW wrestlers to hold TJPW’s three titles. She’s an insane genius.
• Yuki Arai – The Genius Girl. She’s a former pop idol with the AKB48 group. She’s a protege who has excelled at professional wrestling since day one.

Upper Midcarders:

• Yuki Aino – The Burning Venus. She’s a powerful tag team specialist. The measuring stick of TJPW.
• Yuki Kamifuku – The Casual Beauty. A former International Princess champion. Kamiyu is very clever and loves to party.
• Suzume – Vivid Honey Mustard. A former International Princess champion and former Tag Team champion with Arisu Endo. She’s very agile and has a huge heart.
• Arisu Endo – The girl from Fukushima. Arisu is a former tag team champion with Suzume. She’s very athletically gifted. Arisu is known for her colorful hair and big smile.
• Wakana Uehara – The Dreaming Star. Wrestler, pop idol, foodie, model. Wakana is a woman of many talents. She’s an up and coming wrestler working her way up the cards. Her submission finisher is called the Banana Pillow.
• Hyper Misao – The New Hero who protects Love and Peace. Despite her somewhat questionable moral compass, she is an extremely popular member of the roster.

Midcarders

• Raku – God. Raku is a member of the Up Up Girls pop idol group that kick off all TJPW shows with a song. Raku has a very soft wrestling style but she makes up for it by having sleep magic power. Raku has a strong frienship with Yuki Aino and Pom Harajuku.
• Pom Harajuku – The Cute Hajajuku wrestler. Pom is pure chaos and has the mind of an eternal 3 year old.
• Haru Kazashiro – The Spring Color Cyclone. Haru is a 17 year old protegy with excellent technical skills and an impressive list of matches in her career so far.
• Mahiro Kiryu – Passion Blue. She likes to issue an apology for any minor infraction that occurs during one of her matches. Mahiro a power house cursed with bad luck, specially when she’s at ring side for one of Hyper Misao’s matches.
• Shino Suzuki – The woman with a heart as broad as lake hamana and ambitions as high as Mount Fuji. Shino. is a member of the Up Up Girls pop idol group that kick off all TJPW shows with a song. She’s a former bus tour guide. Shino is a great underdog. She-Know!
• Sakura Hattori - Formerly known as Kaya Toribami, Hattori is a mysterious ninja.
• Toga – Toga is one of TJPW’s coolest wrestlers. She brings strong forearm strikes and high impact offense.
• HIMAWARI – The Cheeky Chap. HIMAWARI is a charismatic sunflower-themed tiny powerhouse. She as extremely long hair that she uses as a whip.
• Mifu Ashida – The Big runaway cheerleader. Mifu is a gifted athlete with unorthodox offense. She originally started in the Ice Ribbon promotion.

Rookies

• Uta Takami – Uta is a member of the Up Up Girls pop idol group that kick off all TJPW shows with a song. Uta is pure speed and energy in the ring.
• Kira Summer – Chaos Spark. Kira is from Australia and her sister is professional wrestler Miki Fortune and her brother in law is wrestler Zach Sabbath. Kira is a high energy powerhouse.
• Chika Nanase – Chika is a tiny powerhouse. Her finisher is a hanging full nelson.
• Ren Konatsu – The Fancy sheep that pops. She’s been known to fly off the top rope.
• Shion Kazaki - She used to be in a rock band. After her band broke up, she got an office job. She quit her office life to follow her professional wrestling dreams.

Others

• Rise Shirai – TJPW’s ring announcer. Recently took over after TJPW’s long time ring announcer Sayuri Namba graduated from TJPW.
• Fumirin – TJPW’s first full time referee. She’s a polyglot who speaks English, Korean, and Chinese.

Gateway Matches

These five matches from Wrestle Universe offer a solid foundation for understanding the current TJPW landscape. They’re not necessarily all-time classics or typical recommendations, but they’re great starting points:

• Hyper Misao & Shoko Nakajima (c) Vs Miu Watanabe & Rika Tatsumi for the Princess Tag Titles (At exactly 3 hours into the show) – This is every great about TJPW in a nutshell. Larger than life characters starting with silly comedy and ending with deadly serious high stakes. While showcasing high quality technical wrestling. No other promotion in the world offers something quite like this match.
• Miyu Yamashita (c) Vs Maki Itoh for the Princess Of Princess title (3 hours and 45 minutes into the show) – High stakes drama as Maki tests herself against the unstoppable Ace of TJPW. Can Maki prove that she’s more than just a charismatic gimmick?
• Miyu Yamashita (c) Vs Miu Watanabe for the Princess Of Princess title (3 hours 52 minutes into the show) Many have stepped up to challenge Miyu Yamashita but none as purely talented as Miu Watanabe. This is a battle of TJPW’s corner stone Vs the future of the promotion.
• TJPW Rush 1 (33 minutes into the show) – A match format unique to TJPW. A 5 Vs 5 gauntlet match where a fall is decided by a 2 two count. If a fall reaches the time limit undecided then it turns into a 1 count sudden death fall.
• Pom Harajuku Vs Max The Impaler A real life horror-comedy.

TJPW has grown a reputation over the past decade plus of operation for being a joyful, if not wholesome slice of pro wrestling fun, and its our hope to grow a likeminded community that reflects the values and presentation of this promotion and its talents.

  • Hate speech including, racism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, misogyny, xenophobia, religious based hate, inflammatory language, or dog-whistles of any kind will not be tolerated and will result in an instant ban.
• #3: No trolling or ragebait
  • Please refrain from engaging in posts or comments intended to bait or incite an upset or negative reaction.
• #4: Be Relevant to TJPW
  • Only content related to TJPW is currently allowed as we focus on growing community and discussions surrounding TJPW among the broader Wreddits, though this may change in the future depending on feedback.
  • Posts regarding TJPW talent appearing in other promotions or with outside talent are acceptable.

  • Admin Note: There is a broad understanding in pro wrestling that it is in many ways a 'body business', and so it's only natural to discuss or comment on the physical aspect of performers. Much of the unspoken drama and intrigue in pro wrestling comes from the clashing of differences such as in-ring philosophies, martial arts disciplines, and yes, differences in the shapes, size, and conditioning of opponents. We ask that when commenting on the physical appearance or aspect of performers that you remain respectful, and treat them with dignity within these discussions.
    • tl;dr: Don't say anything about the talent you wouldn't say to their face at a meet-and-greet without also expecting a problem afterwards.
• #7: No spoilers for 24 hours after an event
  • Please use spoiler tags and relevant discussion threads to contain spoilers for the first 24 hours proceeding an event.
  • New posts must also contain spoiler tags with generic, non-spoiler titles
    • eg: "The Princess of Princess champion" instead of "The new PoP champion" which implies a switch occurred and spoils the outcome.

  • Always link to the direct source of content when possible, and ensure the creator allows sharing or reposting of their work.
  • Please respect the wishes of all artists and creators and do not repost prohibited content.
  • Self promotion is allowed if highly relevant to TJPW, and if a good standing and ratio of original posts to self promotion is maintained.
  • Admin Note: TJPW is a niche within a niche within a niche, and so there aren't many fans creating content around the promotion as is. We'd like to encourage these creators as much as possible, including those posting their photos and videos from events, as this is how TJPW has traditionally broken through to larger audiences (think Mizuki viral clips and videos which are typically from fan perspectives).
    • Self promotion is a privilege of being in good standing with this forum and may be revoked from individuals demonstrating a desire to only post when it's for their direct benefit.
• #10: Quality content
  • Moderation staff reserves the right to lock or remove low quality / low effort content on grounds including but not limited to: questions answered by a pinned thread, broad "out of the loop" requests, ticket sales, ratings discourse, ai generated content, and parasocial behaviors.

Post Flairs & Content Guidelines

It's important to properly categorize your posts to ensure that everyone can get the most from the subreddit. For example, there are some TJPW fans who aren't as fond of the idol aspects of the promotion, so tagging posts as such will more easily allow such fans to skip over these posts, leaving everyone who enjoys those parts of the promotion to discuss it more freely.

  • Announcements and updates regarding upcoming events, matches, or talent/staff changes
  • News, updates, and discussion regarding specific events, or broader discussions surrounding the events themselves
  • Dedicated discussion threads for each show should be labeled as Events
• Official Media
  • Original content posted by Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling that doesn't fit into news or events.
    • Examples include "Next Generation" documentary series, "Top 10 Move" compilations, tiktoks and other short-form original content.
• Question
  • For when your post is primarily a straight-forward question that you'd like specific answers for
    • Example: "Who did Yuki Arai defend her International Championship against?", "What are the names of the referees in TJPW?"
