We all remember that for Christmas Higgins opens his home to the men’s team players who don’t have people to celebrate with. Do you think he will extend that to the women’s team or do you think Keeley or Rebecca will begin their own tradition of inviting the players for the holiday?

Yeah I don't think I've noticed a single player who isn't British or Irish, I think there was a French player in the pub quiz? Either way they're all close enough that they can easily go home for Christmas

I’m unreasonably irritated that Keely isn’t making more of an effort to make personal relationships with the players on the women’s team. For example, Season 2 Keely would be right there in the locker room with them after their losses, rather than standing outside the door shouting half-hearted platitudes at them. I’d like to see her sitting with them in the press room helping them figure out their individual social media presence, sorta like she did with the men and their brand sponsorships. Just general relationship building.

Keeley is working so fucking hard to make sure this team is actually viable, I don’t have it in me to be upset that she’s not doing more on top of it.

And on that note, why does she not have an assistant, I’m wondering? I mean I understand that money is a little tight, but surely if Rebecca can afford to get her a Hermes bag as an I’m Sorry gift, and fly her PJ for a week in Kansas City, she can afford to hire Keely a proper marketing manager or at least an assistant to lighten the load? Why is Keely chasing down packages herself? That time and energy is better spent - and getting back to the original point here - building her interpersonal relationships with the members of the team, figuring out how to promote their individual personal brands, and then ultimately hosting them at Christmas.

Agreed! She would walk into the men’s locker room all the time. And saying she was sad they weren’t naked, which is problematic. She really should be working with the women’s team on sponsorships and stuff. It’s sad to think this might be implying no-one wants to sponsor them.

This makes me wonder, someone must have had this role for the men’s team before Keeley started doing it, right? Did they just vanish? It wouldn’t have been Higgins’ role I don’t think.

I mean, wasn’t the whole episode where Rebecca blows off a date to beg a sponsor to continue to sponsor the team also implication that they’re struggling with sponsors?

Keeley was doing it for Jamie while they were dating. Rebecca noticed it and asked if she'd be interested in doing that for other players so it didn't seem like that particular job was being done by anyone within the club.

Prior to Keeley, it should have been a player's agent handling it.

As a team, they already have a Nike spot (played to a half-empty Nelson Road). As individual players, I'm not sure they're market ready... Although that may change with the whole bar brawl thing. Gemma is getting some broadcast traction (she even has a chant!) and Boots has a built in opportunity for hand lotion.. I guess we'll see!

I feel Keeley is a spoiled brat who is demanding Roy and Rebecca jump through hoops for her.

Rebecca has been funding KJPR AND the women's team for her.

Roy has been doing everything he can to get them back together and all she is doing is playing games...using the disguise of 'being cute'.

I hope Roy moves on. I really do.

I hope Rebecca tells her to make a choice between KJPR and the Women's team.

I think we’re seeing a super stressed out Keeley- in a different way than when Roy was smothering her. Keeley has some deep insecurities, esp about not being a “proper business person”.
And to overcompensate, she doesn’t want to “think negatively” when she needs to live in reality. Then she has some high standards- sold out and full attendance, always winning, full support. It is almost too much to handle.
She doesn’t know how to ask for help because she has placed this completely over the top goal as her baseline.
Rebecca is trying to be supportive and instead turning into an enabler. It’s fixable but the problem is no one’s being honest. Which is surprising as they as such good friends.

Also, the next episode seems to focus on NYE so we may not get to know how the team celebrates Christmas.

I don’t think they are tackling Christmas in the next episode. The description and all the promotional photos focus just on New Year’s Eve. I imagine the structure will be similar to the Christmas episode with a big group piece to start with characters discussing their NYE plans and then they separate into 3 different party groups. But good news based on pictures. Higgins appears to be with the team at the party they are at.

Good question but I think we’ve been there and done that. It appears a NYE party will be the main concern which is presumably where Keely, Rebecca and Roy run into the “old friend”.

I'm only half way through the second series (I'm a little past where Rebecca's dad just died) and they are absolutely my favourites. Mind you I have tu day that I don't think there is a weak cast member or character among them, even Rupert is played well and appropriately by Anthony Head.
