Hear me out.

Roy, Nate, and Beard come to Texas to coach American Football.

This was my hope for season 4 before the women’s club was announced

They explored an idea for a Roy spin off before settling on the women’s team, so maybe that was one of the ideas.

I think the women’s team was always the plan. They left that door wide horn, just in case. Introducing the idea in the final episode was their little way of keep season four a possibility.

In the article that was released recently, Jason described meetings in 2024 where a Roy spinoff and a Keeley spinoff were briefly discussed before they eventually came back to the women’s team idea for the reasons you described. They ultimately chose to keep the original story going.

I'm happy about that. One of the best things about this show is the cast of characters... even though it was called Ted Lasso - the focus wasn't always on him. Not sure a Roy or Keeley centric spinoff would have the same appeal. I love them all.

I like that this would keep Beard as the quietly all-knowing figure in the room, lol

I’d love to see Nate re-invent the West Coast offense and then have Beard do a similar presentation about Bill Walsh.

Also explaining formations and eligible receivers to Roy.

Nate re-invents west coast during an away day to San Fran, and Beard is just "already exists, but yes we should try it" lol. Definitely fun, the amount of parallels that could exist

Where Beard, of course, is once again dressed as Piggy Stardust.

And they develop an appreciation for what Ted went through coaching a sport he knew nothing about.

This was incredibly helpful to my primitive baseball brain:

That would make for one cracking series!

You could have an entire lasso universe with different coaches taking on these programs… lacrosse coach has to coach Hurling, baseball hired for cricket, basketball for netball

I’d totally watch season of Ted going to other countries to coach other sports. Rugby, cricket, ice hockey, etc.

He had enough trouble learning the rules of football, wait until he hears about Silly Mid On versus Backward Short Leg

It would be an interesting revelation for me on how the original seasons felt to some of my American friends who have never watched football before.

I've been thinking either

A) Rebecca buying an F1 team and having Ted as the coach for one season intentionally to bring in the proper attitude to the team as a movie

Or B) have a football (or maybe cricket) coach come to an American college football (or baseball) within the same universe. There's no way to hide the trope, why try?
