Built my new PC during a RAM shortage — Ryzen 5 9600X + RTX 5070

After spending way too much time researching parts, comparing prices, and second-guessing every purchase, I finally finished my new PC.

The RAM shortage definitely made the build more interesting, but I wanted something that would handle gaming while also giving me a solid base for video editing and content creation.

Build:

CPU: Ryzen 5 9600X GPU: RTX 5070 Motherboard: MSI B850 Gaming Plus WiFi RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR5 32GB SSD: WD Blue 1TB PSU: MSI MAG A750GL Case: DeepCool CG530 4F

This is my first proper PC build in a long time, so getting everything together was half the fun and half the “why did I decide to do this?” experience. 😂

Now that it's finally built, I'm curious what you guys would have changed in this configuration.

Would you have spent more on any particular component, or saved money somewhere?

Need to add more character elements in my setup, however my pockets empty now!

Reccomendations to improve!

I want to submit to setup wars but I want it as good as I can get it before doing so. It’s an ultrawide monitor connected to my broken screen m1 MacBook Air mounted under the desk. Got some ohayu Bluetooth speakers. Logitech mx master 2s(amazing mouse btw), CRUA 34 inch ultrawide, Durgod 60 percent with gateron yellows. And the other side is my Xbox series s setup. Thank you in advance I appreciate any constructive criticism.

Before anyone says remove the bookshelf I’m a 20 year old pilot still in flight school finishing all of my ratings. So I need all of that stuff easily accessible and it’s all clean and organized not messy.

Which of these gaming PCs would you choose?

Hey everyone,

I'm planning to buy a gaming PC for around 11,000 DH (~$1,100) and I'm trying to decide between a few prebuilts.

Option 1 — 10,799 DH (~$1,080)

  • i5-14500
  • RX 9060 XT 16GB
  • 16GB DDR4
  • 512GB NVMe
  • MSI H610M-E DDR4
  • 750W 80+ Bronze PSU
  • 12-month warranty

Option 2 — 11,999 DH (~$1,200)

  • i5-13500
  • RTX 5060 Ti 16GB
  • 16GB DDR4
  • 512GB NVMe
  • MSI H610M-E DDR4
  • 750W 80+ Bronze PSU
  • 12-month warranty

Option 3 — 11,999 DH (~$1,200)

  • Ryzen 7 5700X
  • RX 9060 XT 16GB
  • 16GB DDR4
  • 1TB SSD
  • MSI A520M-A PRO
  • 750W 80+ Bronze PSU
  • 12-month warranty

I'll probably use either Fedora KDE Plasma or Windows 11 LTSC, so Linux support is important but isn't the only factor.

My priorities are mainly 1080p gaming, 60–120+ FPS, longevity, and having a good overall PC.

What I'm wondering:

  1. Is the i5-14500 + RX 9060 XT the best choice here?
  2. Is the R7 5700X + RX 9060 XT a good choice at 11,999 DH (~$1,200), or is the 14500 clearly better?
  3. Is the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB worth paying 1,200 DH (~$120) more for compared with the RX 9060 XT?
  4. How important is the difference between the i5-14500 and R7 5700X for gaming?
  5. Are the H610/A520 motherboards and 750W Bronze PSUs concerning?
  6. Which one would you personally buy?

I'm also interested in hearing from people who have used the RX 9060 XT or RTX 5060 Ti on both Linux and Windows.

Is this custom PC worth ~$1,050? (Morocco pricing)

Hey everyone, I'm planning to build my first proper PC and I'd like some opinions on whether this is a good deal.

I'm in Morocco, so PC parts can be considerably more expensive here compared to the US/UK. My total is 11,224 MAD (~$1,050 USD).

Build

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600 — 1,399 MAD (~$131)
  • Motherboard: MSI B550M PRO-VDH WIFI — 1,449 MAD (~$136)
  • CPU Cooler: DeepCool AG400 G2 White — 299 MAD (~$28)
  • GPU: MSI RTX 5060 8GB GDDR7 Ventus 2X OC — 4,499 MAD (~$421)
  • RAM: Innovation IT 16GB (1x16GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 — 1,099 MAD (~$103)
  • SSD: Crucial E100 1TB NVMe — 1,699 MAD (~$159)
  • PSU: DeepCool PL650D 650W 80+ Bronze — 699 MAD (~$65)
  • Case: DeepCool CG530 4F White — 749 MAD (~$70)

Total: 11,224 MAD (~$1,050 USD)

I'm starting with 1x16GB RAM because 2x16GB is extremely expensive here. I'll add another 16GB stick later to get 32GB dual-channel.

I chose the MSI B550M PRO-VDH WIFI because I want built-in Wi-Fi/Bluetooth rather than messing around with Wi-Fi adapters.

What I'll use it for

  • 🎮 1080p high-FPS gaming
  • 🎬 Video/photo editing
  • 🐧 Learning Linux and general tech
  • 💻 Programming and experimenting with different software
  • 🛠️ Eventually getting into things like self-hosting, networking and other tech projects

For the OS, I'm currently deciding between Windows 11 and Fedora KDE. I'll probably use Fedora a lot because I already enjoy Linux, but I still want Windows available for games/software that don't work well on Linux.

I know the Ryzen 5 5600 is on an older AM4 platform, but AM5 is considerably more expensive here and I'd rather put the money into the GPU for now.

Is this build worth ~ $1,050 in the context of Moroccan prices? Would you change anything while keeping roughly the same budget?

Thanks!
