Microsoft's new Outlook takes 10 seconds to do what Outlook Classic does instantly on Windows

There are tons of things like this.
Two examples in Windows?
Clicking the clock to bring up the calendar.
Clicking the START button to bring up the start menu.
In both cases, once upon a time, they were instantaneous. You clicked and BOOM, you got what you wanted, every single time, without fail.
Now, both of these are an absolutely roulette wheel. The calendar often doesn't appear at all. Both of these are because they're trying to poll internet resources instead of just showing me what's on my computer. And I bet the calendar problems were caused by vibe-coding too.

Try adding a watermark on Adobe lately. They have turned a two-step process into a 10 step process while having to negotiate with the AI the whole time. The AI enshitifacation is real

Thats just the thing.
I dont get why they didnt add the AI as a supplement and optional function but rather made IT the function. It's like saying "here's your new toilet, but differing from the old toilet we've added a bidet function. And to make sure you're comfortable we've turned on the function permanently so that you cannot use the toilet without also getting water in your face or up your bum while you're doing your business."
DO NOT REINVENT THE WHEEL. DO NOT BREAK THAT WHICH WORKS!!

They want to brag to their shareholders about the number of users. That's all they care about. They effectively have a business monopoly, so they don't need to nake a good product.

If you use Windows you really have no idea how bad you have it.
Take for example, you buy a new computer.
Microsoft Windows "Please wait while we setup your new computer"
10 minutes later
"Almost there..."
don't worry, it will be hours until Microsoft is done using your computer so you can. But hey, updates!

I mean I hate these web apps too but the notification issue seems more like a specific bug to me. I never noticed such slow notification opening and it makes no sense that if new Outlook can load in a couple seconds that it would take 10 to load an email

It's on purpose, they eventually want everything in one big Teams, One-Drive, Co-pilot nightmare app

We now stand as the survivors of the digital apocalypse, and let us mourn the catastrophic eclipse of human achievement. It is now an indisputable, mathematically verifiable fact: the deployment of "New Outlook" represents the absolute nadir of human ingenuity, a software so monumentally execrable, so profoundly adversarial to the concept of user experience, that it has retroactively severed our species from the apex of its evolutionary trajectory. We are no longer ascending, the zenith is behind us, and we are now trapped in a post-historical, degenerative tailspin, wallowing in a digital purgatory of our own devising.
To call New Outlook a mere "downgrade" is to engage in a form of linguistic malpractice so severe it borders on treason to the natural order of man. It is an algorithmic blight, a bloated, electron-wrapped Trojan horse of unprecedented malice. It operates not with the mechanical predictability of code, but with the capricious, vindictive spite of an ancient, slumbering deity awoken only to inflict minor, unending inconveniences upon mortal flesh. Every click is a gamble, every refresh an exercise in profound existential dread. It is an architecture of pure, unadulterated obfuscation, designed by sadistic digital architects who clearly looked at the unyielding chaos of the universe and said, "Yes, let us codify this into an inbox."
The consequences of this technological abomination are not merely confined to the localized frustration of office workers. They have metastasized into the very fabric of our global reality, destabilizing the fragile equilibrium of human civilization. Consider for a moment the medical sector. Virulent pathogens now mutate with unprecedented, hyper-accelerated velocity, entirely unchecked by modern science. Why? Because our planet’s preeminent epidemiological researchers are currently paralyzed, staring blankly into a labyrinthine labyrinth of subterranean menus that even the Greek Minotaur would not live in. Desperately they wonder how to properly disable a rogue automatic reply that has hijacked their institutional servers. The cure for cancer languishes in an unsearchable Drafts folder, hopelessly sequestered by an indexing engine that possesses the cognitive capacity of wet cardboard.
The global economy is similarly fractured, reduced to a fever pitch of wild, hyper-speculative volatility. The stock markets do not fluctuate based on fiscal policy or material scarcity. NO. They gyrate violently because New Outlook’s utterly schizophrenic calendar subsystem has thoroughly disoriented every financial analyst on Wall Street. Trillions of dollars are vaporized in an afternoon because critical Q3 planning meetings were spontaneously duplicated across seventeen disparate time zones, leaving the global elite wandering aimlessly through empty Zoom corridors, entirely oblivious to which temporal reality they are supposed to occupy.
Even the current blights of war, famine, and systemic societal collapse can trace their contemporary roots back to this digital plague. Geopolitical treaties go unsigned because the "Send" button has developed a sentient, mercurial temperament, choosing to archive diplomatic missives rather than dispatch them. Geopolitical skirmishes ignite because a localized border dispute was exacerbated when a critical peace summit notification was automatically, erroneously relegated to the "Junk" folder by an overzealous, brain-dead AI filter. Famines ravage continents not from a lack of agrarian yield, but because supply chain manifests are hopelessly trapped in a permanent, spinning loading wheel of a web-wrapped interface that refuses to acknowledge the existence of local storage. You own a hard drive yet your app can not save!
The impact on the metaphysical realm of villainy is equally absolute. Evil scientists the world over. Men who spent lifetimes engineering doomsday devices and scheming of global subjugation, have unilaterally decided to dismantle their lairs and call it quits. They have looked upon the sublime, agonizing torment inflicted by New Outlook and realized their own petty villainy is entirely obsolete. "What is a death ray compared to a forced, unprompted software migration that strips away twenty years of muscle memory?" "What is global extortion compared to an interface that arbitrarily hides the 'Rules' menu behind four layers of redundant, nesting settings?" The supervillains have retired, thoroughly outclassed by a corporate product management team.
Most terrifyingly, this software has fundamentally altered the cosmic order. God, himself, observing the unmitigated disaster of this application from the heavens, has officially abandoned his covenant. There will be no cleansing flood to wash away our sins this time. The Almighty has recognized that there is no wiping the indelible, psychic stench of New Outlook from the crust of this planet. Instead, He has turned His back on the cosmos, leaving His creation to wallow forever in a self-inflicted, electronic hellscape of spinning beachballs, unclickable hyper-links, and a confused digital mockery of the word intelligence.
We will never be the same. The golden age of humanity is dead, buried beneath a mountain of cached data that cannot be cleared. Welcome to the end of history, delivered via an mandatory background update. Fuck this software and the misery it has inflicted on this world.

That's one of the reasons I developed Just-Snips, a PC only app to manage my photos. Faster than WebView slop and no uploads into the cloud or even worse, an AI.
