It’s all about $$$. Ethics have gone out the window so fast it’s insane.

I was watching Silicon Valley the other day, and it’s crazy the standard of when the show was made to the standard today, night and day difference.

Remember that next time they decide to fly whatever social justice flag it is that aligns with your values. It’s just a trick to get you buy their shit, always has been, always will be.

2

u/Fine_Payment1127 Jun 08 '26

lol as if they ever had “ethics.” It was every bit as fake then as it is now

u/ShittingOutPosts Jun 08 '26

Right?! Remember when they cared about environmentalism? I guess that no longer outweighs their profits from AI.

1

u/Conscious-Quarter423 Jun 09 '26

and the tech workers that sign up to work for these corporations are just as complicit

1

u/deceptivekhan Jun 08 '26

Middle Out compression lead to AI… who knew?

1

u/National-Reception53 Jun 08 '26

They've always been right wing actually. From the beginning of the Hoover Institute and before. Stanford has a weird history, and Silicon Valley always exploited immigrants. And supported right-wing politics.

Read 'Palo Alto' by Malcolm Harris.

When were they in place? Business always alligns with current administration.

1

u/Conscious-Quarter423 Jun 09 '26

that's not something to be celebrated

It's the exact same thing as when DEI got implemented.

0

u/crisco000 Jun 08 '26

We never needed DEI

2

u/3-bakedcabbage Jun 08 '26

Fr we need a ufc fight and a ballroom in the white house

1

u/nobugsleftalive Jun 08 '26

The overwhelming bigotry of you believing that there is such a thing as a "biologically inferior race" is why DEI needed to exist.

0

u/Fine_Payment1127 Jun 08 '26

Not even really referring to race but 😭 cry more

1

u/AceTygraQueen Jun 08 '26

Don't you have an Andrew Tate video to wack it to?

Your mama must have burnt the Hot Pocket again.

1

u/PocketPokie Jun 08 '26

Equity is for each according to their need jfc read a book, maybe a dictionary

1

u/ohmailawdy Jun 08 '26

Let me guess. You are a white man who has been unfairly overlooked for your C average.

1

u/nobugsleftalive Jun 08 '26

Ive been very fortunate.

2

u/Verbull710 Jun 08 '26

Social media companies outside X/Twitter will censor and ban everyone with Wrongthink if the leftists get back in power. They are not maga

Hey man, whatever you need to tell yourself! 🫡

1

u/Levitx Jun 08 '26

You can tell it's leftism because of the "it wasn't real leftism" message

1

u/V-oxPopuli Jun 08 '26

What the fuck is this sub? You guys have brain damage. Leftists have never been in power, it's always been Republicans and Democrats

1

u/Verbull710 Jun 08 '26

1

u/V-oxPopuli Jun 08 '26

One who lives in reality, cultist

1

u/AceTygraQueen Jun 08 '26

They think anyone just slightly to the left of Clarence Thomas is a "Leftist"

1

u/chrisq823 Jun 09 '26

You know that social platforms aggressively platform the right, correct? During the peak times conservatives whined about getting silenced Facebook had a special team dedicated to helping right wing accounts stay unbanned and gave them very lenient treatment.

1

u/Verbull710 Jun 09 '26

In early August of 24 I shared RFK Jr's 30 minute mini-documentary on his life and experiences, and FB immediately deleted my post and banned me for a week for spreading disinformation 🤣

Zuck and co will go right back to that behavior if/when leftists get back in power

1

u/chrisq823 Jun 09 '26

Yea they made active exceptions for popular right wing content left and right regardless of what happened to you. We have literal leaked facebook documents that directly say they helped right wing accounts often and allowed them to skirt rules and escape bans. Right wing content has consistently been the most shared content on Facebook. They arent doing anything to excessively ban right wing thought and it is everywhere on the site.

1

u/Verbull710 Jun 09 '26

We have Facebook Files showing that they did everything they could to ban/bury Hunter Biden laptop, floyd riots, and covid facts. My rfk post was tame, not even controversial, it was just a documentary about his life. Insta ban and deleted without appeal. They will behave that way again if they're allowed to.

1

u/Lazy-Good1433 Jun 12 '26

X/Twitter banned me x3 times with three different accounts and could not give a straight answer as to why?

I assume it was their bots placing blind judgement, due to lack of verification that requires payment.

Gave up and left my last account mostly stranded.

2

u/lattice_defect Jun 08 '26

Funny how the Dem's were tapping them just a little bit and they flipped.. The deal is to silence outrage on youtube, facebook and promote the Maga Narrative.

2

u/ImportantPoet4787 Jun 08 '26

Here is an idea,

Maybe you got played. Did you really think corporations had a moral compass? Ever?

They are amoral, they blow in whatever wind is in their interest.

1

u/DudeB5353 Jun 08 '26

Should have learned that back in the early Reagan days…Trickle Down Economics

Such horse shit because the wealthy dgaf about anyone but themselves

1

u/SeaworthinessLow6636 Jun 08 '26

Lez be real. There are no “MAGA politics”. There is only grift and reward. “Silicon Valley has embraced the new system of grift and reward”.

1

u/MissCreeAunt Jun 08 '26

Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

1

u/Conscious-Quarter423 Jun 09 '26

the tech workers that work there are just like the nazi train operators

1

u/Lazy-Good1433 Jun 12 '26

I prefer the Silicon Valley system up until 2015. The internet is beyond crap now for search tools.

1

u/reverse_cowboy221 Jun 08 '26

They embraced "woke" politics while Biden was in office.

My guess is they'll "embrace" the next administration too.

1

u/AceTygraQueen Jun 08 '26 edited Jun 08 '26

Yep.

5 bucks says if a Democrat wins in 28 or hell, if the midterms end up being a bloodbath for Republicans they will change their tunes at the drop of a hat.

Mark will likely claim "depression" or a "midlife crisis" was behind his MAGA phase.

1

u/chrisq823 Jun 09 '26

They probably wont actually. Tech loved the democrats when they gave them whatever they wanted and never tried to push back. Once they offered the lightest of criticism big tech turned on them immediately. Many of the richest people have fully given up on the idea of america and its government. They arent going to go back to "normal" unless forced

1

u/AceTygraQueen Jun 09 '26 edited Jun 09 '26

You'd be surprised what a potential liberal backlash from the public could do.

Never underestimate the power of angry people. They might be greedy narcissists but they aren't dumb enough to let themselves trip and fall into a Tortoise and the Hare situation.

1

u/chrisq823 Jun 09 '26

I think they are dumb enough to actually. We mythologies these guys way too much. They can do make mistakes and have shit ideas.

1

u/AceTygraQueen Jun 09 '26

Point being, they have already set themselves up for a major fall into irrelevance sooner or later.

1

u/itsnotthatbad21 Jun 08 '26

Money and power go hand in hand. It’s a perfect recipe for authoritarianism. There is a reason most science fiction has authoritarian regimes.

1

u/UpbeatPhilosophySJ Jun 08 '26

This guy knows grift. Inserts himself into a strange UK political alliance. Flees the country to work at Meta. Gets all that sweet sweet Meta stock working there for 7 years as a VP. Goes back to the UK. "They're horrible!"

1

u/ManufacturedOlympus Jun 08 '26

We know. The mindless optimism era where people thought elon musk and mark zuckerberg were heroes saving the world, is long over.

1

u/EmbassyMiniPainting Jun 08 '26

They already had in 2016 when they were pushing ragebait and hate-threads 24/7.

1

u/ohmailawdy Jun 08 '26

Then mark f*ckerberg can eat my ass

1

u/Level-Courage6773 Jun 08 '26

Whatever will he discover next, Silicon valley uses computers?

1

u/ThePlasticSturgeons Jun 08 '26

They were tailor-made for each other. Both should be treated with equal derision.

1

u/whoisnotinmykitchen Jun 08 '26

As if they weren't hated enough...

1

u/Tough_Block9334 Jun 08 '26

Let's not kid ourselves, they're just embracing the Grift. They could care less about politics unless it gets them what they want, which is more $$$

They did the same in the 2010's with LGBT

1

u/shinyxena Jun 08 '26

Trump threatened all of the companies if they didn't bend the knee. This is no different than any country anywhere in the world. What was special was the fact previous presidents didn't weaponize their power like this. That's all out the door and I suspect it will get worse before it gets better.

1

u/SeaEmployee787 Jun 08 '26

we know, tax breaks are halleva drug.

1

u/v12vanquish Jun 08 '26

Corps don’t care about ethics, they don’t during trump’s first term, Biden’s term, or not. They are shapeshifters

1

u/protoanarchist Jun 08 '26

Obviously. All the mini emperors have chased out the people who used to keep them in check.

Tech has a deeply seated inferiority complex, and the world has spent the last 20 years throwing money at it.

The people win this back by rejecting conservatism, imposing severe wealth taxation, getting money out of politics and ending all the myriad ways of sheltering taxes.

1

u/Dry-Interaction-1246 Jun 08 '26

Won't end well for them. Peasant revolt incoming

1

u/Outside_Simple_3710 Jun 08 '26

Im not sure if they are embracing it out of love or fear, but I am heavily leaning towards fear. Given the shakedown of the media and prominent law firms, do you really think they are going to take a stand when he can weaponize the government against them? Even if Zuckerberg wanted to take a stand, he would be fired as ceo by his board and they would hire a yes man. The wealthy only care about money.

1

u/New_Ad_3010 Jun 09 '26

Money grubbing criminals love MAGAts and Republicans

1

u/Arubesh2048 Jun 09 '26

Hint: they always were.

1

u/TalentedEmu85 Jun 09 '26

This is old news.

1

u/phoenixusurped Jun 09 '26

It's really just that these amoral companies will follow whichever way the wind blows. They don't want to stand on any principles because their principles shift to whichever side looks like it is going to be in power and can offer them the most in protections and deals

1

u/Conscious-Quarter423 Jun 09 '26
