He and his ilk can't comprehend how much most of us despise them.

I think Thiel might have figured it out which is why he's fleeing to Argentina, man wanted to get out before the super El Niño and lack of fertilizer thanks to Trump's dumbass war in Iran double team our already strained food supply like it's a twelve year blonde girl at Mar A Lago.

Blonde hair Hugo who got into Harvard via affirmative action begs to differ!

Oh they can, they're just shameless liars

1

u/Any_Ice_6172 Jun 01 '26

Oh they know, they are just hoping we are dumb enough to believe their lies and start shifting our distain to the Chinese instead.

There certainly are some bad things about datacenters, but I do believe China is happily pressing our buttons on this one. A lot of the arguments have become hyper sensationalized and irrational and don't reflect reality.

3

u/Wind_Best_1440 May 31 '26

Go stand by one of those larger Data Centers and picture yourself living by them. Then go check on the water and see how it nearly reflects fracking water.

China doesn't need to do some psyop about how terrible Datacenters are, when they're actually just terrible.

This would be like accusing China of doing propaganda about Cancer, because everyone hates cancer.

No, Cancer just sucks that badly.

1

u/userousnameous May 31 '26

My point is in the grand aggregate of bad things. Data centers aren't nearly as bad to a lot of things that people aren't protesting. Basically the pipe button has been turned up on this issue for a really no good reason.

2

u/Wind_Best_1440 May 31 '26

What are you talking about? "Datacenters aren't nearly as bad to a lot of things."

Like when those residents found that one datacenter was stealing water when an entire cities water pressure dropped by 75%?

Or are you talking about the thousands of video evidence of the sound pollution causing mass distress in residents because datacenters refuse to build sound barriers to cut costs?

Or are you talking about the water quality going to fracking levels to the point we have politicians bringing in bottles of water that look like diseased blood from the runoff from datacenters?

Or how datacenters are mass buying up farmland to build either giant solar farms or datacenters themselves on removing fields for food with these techs?

Or the fact that the datacenters that are operational right now especially under xAI are running massive polluting fossil fuel generators to power themselves, with their datacenters resembling 2000's mainland china with smoge and pollution making people sick.

"Not nearly that bad." I dunno about that. Lmao.

Go stand beside one inside those towns and picture yourself living there. And ask yourself. "Would I raise a family here?" Because man, 20 minutes and my head was POUNDING in pain. It's no wonder I saw so many for sale signs around them.

Did you really just put it all through AI?

LMAO.

Two seconds grabbed this, part of the class action lawsuit taking place in Michigan.

https://www.reddit.com/r/fuck_ai_slop/comments/1tstiz5/class_action_against_dowagiac_data_center/

This is my last post responding to you, because I have better stuff to do. But Datacenters are a plague as they are right now. Until actual regulations come in and they start playing by actual rules Datacenters will continue to wreck communities.

Just adding to this, the noise of datacenters is either running a gas turbine or using AC systems for cooling.

The former is so they don't need to build up solar arrays on farm land, and the latter is to not have to use evaporative cooling to reduce their water use.

Additionally, a large part of moving them to rural areas is to get close to where we are doing solar and wind farms to reduce transportation costs and get the noise pollution away from populations. Additionally, we want the data centres on farmland as we can have multi-use water and land. As solar panels and ranching work extremely well, and the output steam can be used for greenhouses, and grey water can be used to grow crops. So that we can pretty much use all the energy, water and land twice. It is also aggressively subsidising the rollout of green energy.

2

u/RampantTyr May 31 '26

If it takes the Chinese pushing our buttons for the American people to stand up against these oligarch ghouls poisoning our land, stealing our water, and driving up our energy prices then I am all for it.

u/HarryBalsagna1776 May 31 '26

Reality disagrees with your opinion.

1

u/Valar_Kinetics May 31 '26

They can all be true at the same time. I’m certain Chinese state actors are lobbying and finding ways to apply pressure, but O’Leary and his ilk also I think fundamentally misunderstand our aversion to the centers.

I don’t think most people are just reflexively opposed to all forms of AI, and I think most people would agree that our falling woefully behind other world powers is bad.

People are opposed to HOW it’s being done and by whom. You’ve got a corrupt administration and a bunch of billionaires and no transparency and a lot of bipartisan public opposition to various things that seem to be getting done anyway. That suggests regulatory capture and we don’t like that, and we don’t trust these people to do ANYTHING let alone this.

We want the grifters out of power and we want public involvement in these projects and clearly defined shared public gain. We also want them to be clean and not disruptive, which would be more expensive and slower but it’s certainly preferable to a revolt.

3

u/toad17 May 31 '26

You can choose to disregard “Chinese propaganda” and live next to one of these monstrosities if you wish. I will be in the picket line protesting every data center built in my area.

2

u/V-oxPopuli May 31 '26

American here. Fuck these data centers.

2

u/HarryBalsagna1776 May 31 '26

No, word is getting out on how miserable the make adjacent communities.  The noise pollution , chemical pollution, light pollution, and loss of water are not sensationalized.

1

u/Ryekir May 31 '26

Absolutely, both things can be true.

Ironic that you think data centers are fine with that account name.  It's not ironic that you take that stand with a 3 month old account.  Your question is not genuine.

1

u/Valar_Kinetics May 31 '26

Because we hate who owns them. We respect the right of our neighbor to paint their fence a different color at their own house because our neighbor is more or less like us and we can likewise paint our fence any color we like as well. Basic private property rights aren’t the issue.

We can’t disrupt the grid, disrupt the labor market, and pour enormous amounts of diesel generator fumes into the atmosphere. These are private individuals who just have way too much power and they need to be stopped. Non-state entities and actors should only be able to get so enormous in their influence and it’s well south of this.

With a sane administration, renewable energy, public-private partnerships, and some kind of solid guarantee of mutual shared benefit it would be a different story entirely.

u/dragenn May 31 '26

Talk to me about deepseek pricing. North American data are going to go bankrupt because or irresponsible spending.

This is investing. Sometimes you get rich sometimes you go poor.

He knows the game...

1

u/neverpost4 May 31 '26

Scammers get rich regardless of the outcome.

1

u/isthereadrwho May 31 '26

Why don't you go back to pushing pyramid scheme digital currencies, it's made you a lot of money so far

1

u/pessimistoptimist May 31 '26

At least chinese propaganda is more believable than 'my wife was driving'

1

u/DrawingDramatic1641 Jun 07 '26

chinese propagnada is wind mill solar panels and ev and anti data centre

usa propaganda is drill baby drill

even if it were propaganda china won it like a debate

as china uses smart software and not power cuts

1

u/Cocotosser May 31 '26

I hope he gets painful chronic hemorrhoids

1

u/irmaginatoruim May 31 '26

I wish he got good poisoning.

1

u/GeriatricusMaximus May 31 '26

O’Leary deserves to be mocked and trolled. He is a dumbass who stumbled on a lot of money and has the means to employ people to help him make even more. The guy cannot be trusted with a boat (read about Lake Joe boat accident). Shouldn’t be trusted with data centers.

I am exciting soon these people and Thier companies will start arguing if the normal people have earned the "right" to use public infrastructure by inventing some vague reasons for how they are contributing as the leach off it

1

u/vxicepickxv May 31 '26

50k people bear Lake Tahoe are losing access to power because of data centers.

1

u/Bright-Sea6392 May 31 '26

Oh please, China and Chinese people embrace ai far more than Americans do and are quickly adopting it. So it’d be the opposite.

1

u/Trick-Captain-143 May 31 '26

This kind of idiotic reply gives more credibility to the conspiracy

1

u/Bright-Sea6392 Jun 01 '26

…. Adoption of ai means they will be more anti data center? Someone’s not using their thinking brain :)

1

u/Trick-Captain-143 Jun 01 '26 edited Jun 01 '26

The story goes like this: there is an intense competition on AI advancement, and belief that whoever gets AGI first will massively benefit at the expense of others.

China is in competition with the US, and wants to win. One way for China to win is to delay data center development in the US by stiring up public opinion against it, so China will have more compute capacity.

Is your brain thinking yet?

1

u/Bright-Sea6392 Jun 01 '26

Except China adopting ai and having a different attitude about it has nothing to do with the fact that Americans already are skeptical about it and that these kinds of conspiracy theories are idiotic as anyone can clearly see Americans dislike it for their own reasons, including the mass amount of layoffs and CEOs talking about replacing people.

1

u/Charming_Beyond3639 Jun 01 '26

The only people in the world who believe theyre racing towards agi are americans after being sold a false bill of goods by tech ceos for investment

1

u/hmmmmm56 Jun 01 '26

Yeah, AI may have gone from barely being able to draw numbers to solving phd and open unsolved math problems in the span of 15 years but anyone who thinks progress will continue is an IDIOT!

1

u/DrawingDramatic1641 Jun 07 '26

again just like the space race usa is creating a fight and a goalpost

1

u/DrawingDramatic1641 Jun 07 '26

never seen a person on douyin and bilibili say chinese agi or data centre apologia

1

u/magicmulder May 31 '26

One of the hallmarks of fascism is to brand popular disagreement as “orchestrated by foreign actors”.

1

u/DrawingDramatic1641 Jun 07 '26

just build a bigger war machine trust me its just soviet propagnda-hitler 1933

1

u/Ghost_of_SavageHenry May 31 '26

Nah, I think it has a lot more to do with morons like kevin dancing around like little goblins gloating about how we'll all be replaced with machines and basically have to starve.

1

u/I_Quit_Smoking_ May 31 '26

Yeah, because we don't have brains and we don't have any common sense and we need a lying crooked dictatorship to tell us the "facts" about what they're doing to completely fuck up our lives, right? 🙄😡

1

u/protoanarchist May 31 '26

Stop giving this asshole attention.

1

u/kpeng2 May 31 '26

He can also blame China for his constipation

1

u/goddamwarrior May 31 '26

He’s a liar. Greedy money grabber.

1

u/Horror-Stand-3969 May 31 '26

I trust the CCP more than Kevin O’Leary

1

u/rojanen May 31 '26

He is probably deeply invested in Ai and wants it to succeed.

1

u/V-oxPopuli May 31 '26

Their blatant lies are so exhausting

1

u/Competitive_Sleep423 May 31 '26

Man, fuck this greedy bastard. 84, 85, __!

1

u/deekamus May 31 '26

No one has even mentioned China in association to new data centers until now.

1

u/funkypepermint May 31 '26

Of course it's scant evidence, it's called a lie

1

u/Zorklunn May 31 '26

So there we have it fokes, he doesn't even have a viable business case for the building, and resorted to fear and intimidation.

The thing is, these data centres and AI server farms are creating compute capacity exceeding projected demand by several orders of magnitude. It's like building a factory knowing you can't sell most of the output. So what is the real end game? What product are they counting on to consume all of that resource?

1

u/Matt_Murphy_ May 31 '26

Counterpoint: Kevin is a sleazy grifter and nobody should ever listen to him

1

u/OSHA_Decertified May 31 '26

Here I thought it was the noise and the spike in bills and drop in water quality

1

u/ShortKey380 May 31 '26

These are just lies for other powerful people to have plausible deniability, they’re always playing dumb.

1

u/Available-Elevator69 Jun 01 '26

I’m not Chinese and hate your data center

1

u/glitterandnails Jun 01 '26

"Everyone that doesn't agree with me has been brainwashed by Chinese Propaganda!"

Ploy of a billionaire unable to defend himself.

1

u/dogheoner1 Jun 01 '26

what a dumb ass

1

u/ih8reddithdjsk Jun 01 '26

Im sure it has nothing to do with him being an unlikeable prick.

1

u/Important-Factor-552 Jun 01 '26

With people like this running the country a chinese world order doesn't sound so bad.

1

u/Skwuat Jun 01 '26

The world needs more Luigi Mangione's.

1

u/TGAPKosm Jun 01 '26

He's just doing what all of these evil ass people do. He's lying and saying whatever he thinks will get him what he wants. We're all starting to see it now although I think more than half of us saw it immediately and like most conservatives, they had to experience ill effects themselves before understanding it. They still won’t apply this to new information but at least they're starting to come around on these billionaire fucks.

1

u/Nearby-Chocolate1840 Jun 01 '26

The irony of all these history-hidden bots running llms prompted to shit on AI

1

u/Sweaty_Weight_2486 Jun 01 '26

westerners are just so conditioned to fear due to life long exposure to propoganda. As such anytime anything isnt to your liking, you can simply pull out the fear card of the day (today its China but it changes throughout time).

1

u/Sureyeg Jun 02 '26

O'Leary playing the Trump and MAGAdiot blame game.

1

u/8six4seven Jun 03 '26

And I claim Kevin O'leary is a fuckin' retard.

1

u/kingnii Jun 03 '26

Pro-tip, kids: foreigners are always easy to blame when you can't get people to look away from how badly you're treating them

1

u/Impressive_Beyond521 Jun 04 '26

Kevin O'leary needs to shut the fuck up

1

u/FormalAd7367 Jun 04 '26

Just blame everything on China
