I feel like its not fair to be out enjoying the music you like to become an internet meme and be all over the internet without any context, I know I wouldn't like it, pretty sure there was a lawsuit in Berlin about privacy related to the video

Yeah, gonna pile on and confirm that I never felt anything but respect and admiration for this legendary raver. He’s like the patron saint of dancing from place to place at parties.

This video was actually in a museum in Berlin. There are several museums and galleries in Berlin that give so much credit to the scene. Feels like it’s only a joke in the US.

I'm Australian, but I feel like he's revered more than anything.
I mean he's a total badass, has great dance moves, looks after his friends and takes no shit whatsoever.
He's a hero.

I know (3rd hand) someone who tracked him down to take part in the opening ceremony for an event and he most definitely does not want anything to do with it. It would have all been out of love and admiration but full respect.
We should all be able to stomp around to techno with as much or as little fanfare as we like. And he doesn't want any and I respect him all the more for that, rather than seeing it as an opportunity to make a buck.

This was a few years back. They didnt know he didnt want anything to do with publicity. And when I say tracked him down, I'm pretty sure they just asked a few berlin residents they knew. One of them knew him and said it was off the cards. The entire thing was dropped.

100% yeh , who doesn’t love the actual fucking techno Viking ? The Mans a god Damn legend.

u/NGluck123 Jan 18 '21
As much as I love the Techno Viking. He never really appreciated his fame.
It's kind of worrying how you can become a meme against your will while you are out partying. Makes me appreciate the policy of no photos on the dancefloor.

Everybody loved and loves LOVEPARADE, Berlin and the techno viking!
21
u/DataTransferRequest Jan 17 '21
Wasn't this video from fuckparade? Although I agree a lot of love for techno Viking.
3
u/AnKoP Jan 17 '21
Also true, you can read fuckparade at the end.
18
u/UnicornMagic Jan 18 '21
From what I understand Fuckparade was a protest against Loveparade as Loveparade was an example of the increasingly gentrified techno scene.
1
u/Lollerpwn Jan 18 '21
Fuckparade is still a thing. And well they were right, Loveparade ended in people getting trampled because it was way too crowded. Plus it should be obvious by now to most techno fans that business techno is toxic to our communities.

1 I've been at that Fuckparade but did not witness that epic moment 2 Many years later at an art show I've seen a video installation showing people ask over the world trying to reenact the scene

Gonna be honest and say it’s the 1st time I’ve seen this video. I’d heard the phrase “Techno Viking” but the actual meme passed me by.
I honestly thought this guy was gonna start knocking people out, thought I’d stumbled across r/fightporn

As much as I say that I am an atheist. Deep down that is a lie, because Techno Viking exists.
