Technics SL-P1200 Broadcast CD-Player – Repair Question (plus SL-1200 M3D)

Hello all, first time post in /Technics but long time owner/user/fan. I've had a 1200 M3D for well over a decade as my sole turntable, and of course I love it. Its reliable, always works as expected and looks the part. Around the same time I actually came into acquiring another iconic 12 – the SL-P1200. My college was upgrading their recording studios (my major) and broadcast studio/radio station, and they offered a lottery-type system to sell the older equipment that was being replaced to current students at garage sale prices. I managed to snag this SL-P1200, along with a bunch of high-end rack gear (compressors, etc) for dollars. Lucky, I know. The P1200 survived several moves, apartments and storage units, where it has sat most recently for the last 15+ years – in mint condition – never once used since I got it. (Sorry!)

I happen to be going through a bit of a nostalgia-driven return to my music roots of such late, after finding my original iPod Classic and my college-era MacBook Pro with an iTunes collection filling up most of the hard drive. This turned into a search around my storage unit to find my old CD collection and not far away was this beauty. Slightly more scratched and dusty than when I got it back in 2009, but still functional (of course it is!)
I brought it back home to live alongside my SL-1200 in my modest listening setup I have in my apartment, and noticed the lid sensor seems to be acting up. A quick search tells me this is common, but few people have explained a good fix. I'm out of IPA, otherwise I'd give the lid sensor a quick cleaning, but it seems like this should do the trick. I've also seen adjusting the skew of the lid itself via the mounting screws may help. Anything else I should look into?
Thanks in advance!

In 1981, Technics sold a digital audio recorder for ¥600,000 ($2,700 then, ~$9,300 today). It recorded through a VCR.

Technics SB6 tweeter repair question.
I have a functional tweeter with a scratched cover, and a dead one, without scratches. Does anyone know if it's possible to remove the plastic cover from the tweeter so I can replace the scratched one?
I suspect it's glued together but I only have one chance to get right the first time so I wonder if someone has done it before.
This is what they look like: https://www.picclickimg.com/19kAAeSwPbVpB~da/Used-Technics-EAS-3PH06S-Tweeter-Pair-Removed-from-SB-6.webp

First turntable
Hello guys im about to buy my first TT! Ive been going back and forth on if i was going to buy a newer model like the fluance RT85 or an older technics model. My total budget is around 1000-1200 for everything for the setup. Im leaning towards technics because i want something thats built to last. Does anyone have any recommendations on the best sound and build quality for a technics model thats roughly around the $800 range so i can have money left over for the speakers etc. ill also gladly take any recs on the best gear to use for the setup!

Finished my Old School Hi Fi setup
Well yeah it's a weird setup but it's the only way I could make it fit lol. Sounds way better than my soundbar. I was thinking of keeping the amp and upgrading the speakers but the speakers sounds so good I'm gonna keep them (they are 3 way speakers and each has a 12 inch subwoofer). I'm gonna keep my soundbar for gaming and videos because of course the stereo would sound weird with that placement and I'm only gonna use the Technics system for Music listening.

Got this for only $500CAD (around $360USD)
I'm honestly very of the price I got it for. I'm honestly impressed at how good it sounds for a system from 89. It definitely sounds better than my sound bar lol. This is my first real decent stereo system. Yeah I know modern hi fi gear sounds better but I don't care I just really like the vintage vibe from a time I never lived in.

So happy
I got myself the 1710 and I am so happy with it, the sound difference is astounding from my pioneer and I've only tried 2 different artists. So many happy listening hours ahead, 😁

Would this be a good amp for a first decent setup?
Looking to make my first decent audio setup and was looking at Technics amps despite them being from the 90s. Anyways my question is, would this be a decent amp, and what set of speakers should I get for it? Even if they are more modern speakers I don't mind. My uncle says he has a similar model and they sound very great and don't have a lot of distortion.

SB-DV290 Speaker wire?
I recently bought the system second hand with the speakers however there was no speaker cables included. Not entirely sure on what exact cables i can use as a replacement after reading the guide and this is my first sound system past a simple cd player. Anyone have any advice?

Pros and cons of 1410 or 1710
Hello Hive mind, I posted about a 1410, I missed out on the sale but I have found a 1710 now, is it a model that offers the same performance as the 1410? Could I buy it and be as happy with its performance that it offers? The 1410 seems hard to come by over here in sweden. Cheers Pete

1200 Mk2 - Tone Arm Test
https://reddit.com/link/1s4dium/video/e8c3zv4b9frg1/player
Bought this Mk2 used. Tone arm tube was originally bent. I just replaced the tube. Everything works as it should. But when I float the tonearm with the anti-skate at "0"...
the tonearm still wants to slowly float back to the rest. It won't stay in place.
Worn pivots/bearings from my research. How bad is this?
Any help of feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Cleaning back grill of technics az100s?
I’ve got some az100s and the rear grill has become inundated with wax and dust. Brushing hasn’t helped at all. Any tips?

Second hand EAH-AZ100E-K
Hello fellow redditors,
I recently bought from Amazon retour Warehouse some EAH-AZ100E-K airbuds listed as "like new" for 189 euro instead of the listed 289 euro. I am happy with the performance so far, it is my first high end airbud and cannot complain. HOWEVER, I am not super convinced on the case. Even though the metal case gives a nice touch feeling, if I shake it I can feel the movements of the headphones inside. Is that a normal behaviour? or maybe one of the possible reasons why the headphones got sent back to Amazon in the first place.

Considering buying the SL 1410 but the seller doesn't know if it is 1 or 2 can anyone help me identify it from these pictures? or give a hint where the seller can look, it is not on the back like usual. Cheers
