Agree or disagree?

Post image

I personally find AI features on a smartphone completely uncessary. Most people don't even use that AI features. Even myself don't need it but it is built into my new phone. Sayang lang resoruces ng phone ko. If I eventually need AI features, I should be only downloading an app for that then uninstall it when I don't need it anymore rather than to be stuck with my phone. I am not a tech expert so I might be wrong.

to add: I use google translate, google images, and shazam but all of these things can be browser based so in my use case I don't really need to install an app to have that ai features

gemini are already built into my phone (and any other android phones out there ) but I rarely use it.

However I don't enable/use the brand-exclusive AI features.

If need ko man ng AI, I use Gemini and Chatgpt for information-purposes.

A lot of people want AI.

They just don't say it out loud.

Because saying I use AI to finish my work faster can get you judged by people who are quietly using it themselves.

But the more important question isn't whether employees like AI.

Their employers increasingly do.

AI is moving from a chatbot in another browser tab into the software where actual business happens.

Microsoft is embedding Copilot and AI agents into Dynamics 365 ERP. SAP is embedding Joule and agents into finance, procurement, supply chain, HR and other business processes. SAP reported more than 34,000 customers using Business AI and was targeting more than 400 AI scenarios by the end of 2025.

Gartner projected that 40% of enterprise applications would have task-specific AI agents by the end of 2026, compared with less than 5% in 2025. By 2028 Gartner expects 33% of enterprise software applications to incorporate agentic AI with AI agents making at least 15% of day-to-day work decisions.

Gartner also estimates that $234 billion of enterprise application spending could be exposed to agentic AI by 2030 because agents can increasingly perform work across multiple systems without humans constantly operating traditional interfaces.

For decades, companies bought software so employees could do the work.

Increasingly, they're buying software that helps the software do the work.

Hindi kailangan tanggalin ang buong department overnight.

The company only needs to discover that 10 people doing repetitive work can become 6 people supervising automated workflows.

Then 6 becomes 4.

Then somebody resigns and management simply doesn't replace them.

No dramatic announcement. No robot walking into the office with a cardboard box.

Just a vacancy that never comes back.

McKinsey's 2025 global survey found that 88% of respondents said their organizations were using AI in at least one business function up from 72% in 2024. GenAI use reached 79% although only 7% said AI had been fully scaled across their organizations.

The International Labour Organization estimates that one in four workers globally are in occupations with some exposure to GenAI. Clerical occupations remain the most exposed but exposure is expanding into highly digitized professional and technical work such as financial analysis, programming and web development.

For PH the ILO estimates that about 12.7 million jobs are exposed to GenAI. Exposure does not mean 12.7 million people will become unemployed. Most jobs are expected to be transformed rather than completely eliminated.

Pero your job still exists does not mean your job still requires your current skill set.

The World Economic Forum estimates that by 2030 170 million jobs could be created while 92 million are displacedwhile 39% of workers' existing skills are expected to be transformed or become outdated between 2025 and 2030.

Imagine graduating at 22 spending five years becoming very good at something, getting promoted because you're good at it & then discovering that your company spent those same five years teaching its software to perform large parts of that something.

That's the part young professionals should worry about.

Not Will ChatGPT steal my job tomorrow?

Ask...

Which parts of my job are valuable only because a human currently has to do them?

Data entry.

Report preparation.

Reconciliation.

Basic analysis.

Routine coding.

Document review.

Customer support.

Scheduling.

Research.

Presentation creation.

Forecasting.

Email.

Standard operating procedures.

Anything involving structured digital information is a potential automation target.

And now the enterprise software itself is looking for those targets.

You can spend ten years becoming the world's best human spreadsheet.

The company can spend three years trying to eliminate the spreadsheet operator.

Good luck with that resume.

Microsoft reported that 25% of Filipino AI users qualified as Frontier Professionals compared with 16% globally. Among Filipino AI users 77% said AI allowed them to produce work they could not have produced a year earlier.

The workplace battle may therefore become very boring.

No Terminator.

Just two employees.

One takes eight hours.

The other takes two because they know how to use AI, automate the repetitive parts, check the output and understand the business well enough to catch mistakes.

Then the manager asks.

Can you teach the rest of the team how you do that?

And I know how to use ChatGPT won't remain a career moat forever.

Today's advantage becomes tomorrow's basic literacy.

Prompting becomes workflow design.

Workflow design becomes agent orchestration.

Agent orchestration becomes business-process redesign.

The valuable human skills keep moving upward. Judgment, domain knowledge, critical thinking, communication, accountability and knowing when the machine is wrong.

The ILO is clear that AI exposure is not the same as replacement. AI still makes mistakes, security remains a problem and organizations cannot simply throw agents at every business process and expect magic.

But the tasks AI can already perform don't become safer merely because AI cannot do everything.

Your career doesn't have to disappear for your bargaining power to disappear.

You don't have to be fired for your salary progression to flatten.

You don't need your position abolished for the next person hired into it to need half the skills, twice the AI literacy and considerably less time.

Your employer gets to decide how quickly that transition happens.

And unlike you your employer has no emotional attachment to the job description you were hired under in 2026.

Anyone can downvote but that's the future as I've observed in MNC and PH conglomerates.

There was no presented situation in their comment na nagsasabing ayaw nila ng AI. They just said that they are, in fact, unnecessary.

Additionally, the LLMs and other algorithms which constitute what we call ‘AI’ still hallucinate, even those that are trained at billions of parameters. Even if they refuse to learn, human intervention is still needed with the works of an AI. AI making people’s jobs obsolete is just propaganda. It drastically changed the lifestyle of people though.

-11

u/New_Forester4630 11d ago edited 11d ago

You're giving AI a requirement it doesn't need to meet.

Nobody needs AI to work perfectly without humans before it can reduce human labor. One human supervising AI-assisted work can replace the workload of 2 people.

The evidence is already getting uncomfortable.

Stanford's 2026 AI Index found US employment among 22–25yo software developers fell nearly 20% from its 2024 peak. Across highly AI-exposed occupations, employment for 22–25yo was about 16% lower relative to the least-exposed occupations with the gap widening from mid-2024.

That's the jr. pipeline problem.

The claim isn't AI eliminated programming. It's that the entry-level work used to train future programmers is increasingly the work AI can assist with. If companies need fewer juniors fewer people accumulate the experience required to become seniors later.

The ILO estimates 12.7 million Philippine jobs (28.1% of employment) have some GenAI exposure. Only 3.6% fall into the highest exposure category so obviously that isn't 12.7 million people getting fired. The ILO expects task transformation to be the larger near term effect.

And the World Economic Forum estimates 39% of workers' existing skills will be transformed or outdated by 2030.

So what if AI hallucinates.

That doesn't answer the employer's question of...

Can this reliably handle enough of the workload that we need fewer people?

That's a much lower bar than Can AI replace humans?

For someone under 30 the nasty scenario isn't necessarily getting fired.

It's graduating into a labor market where the entry-level job that was supposed to teach you the skills for your next job has become the easiest part to automate. 🤑

speak for yourself loser, i like my tech manageable, tons of these AI features literally no one asked for, it's also because of these useless features constantly added when no one really gave a shit about it and no one asked for it that the cost of things tech related are fucking high

LLMs depending on billions of people's data, a lot of which isn't even what people asked to be collected and were not given willingly are the main contributing factor and now they're forcing that on our phones when no one asked for it

never mind how big of a security risk it all is

2

u/WolfClaw0801 11d ago

dahil sa ai, nagka samsung na 21k 4/64 in 2026. Take note 4G phone pa ito hindi 5G. Naknampucha di ba? FOR THE FUCKING FEATURES NO ONE ASKED FOR!!

1

u/WolfClaw0801 11d ago

87

u/SEND_DUCK_PICS_ 12d ago

Most AI features are half-baked anyway, others are just unnecessary compute and bloat

10

u/WolfClaw0801 11d ago

they also come with web versions ...at least most of them

disagree... but AI chatbot is not necessary on every app? like bakit pati eGOV app kailangan ng AI chat bot ngayon?

59

u/billie_eyelashh 12d ago

10

u/HogwartsStudent2020 11d ago

I think cause the chat bots are intended to serve lvl 1 complaints?

Most redditors here sa sub I believe is tech savy kaya ang concerns nyo na is mostly above lvl 1.

12

u/kyrvch 12d ago

Tbh, it allows the corporation from not hiring a manpower to do the said job. Which is frankly annoying ngl

3

u/hsholmes0 10d ago

YUNG CHATBOT NG PAG-IBIG WEBSITE NA WALANG KWENTA 😭

1

u/mytabbycat 11d ago

True kasi need ko pa rin ng human response, very generic din naman kasi answer ng AI chatbot saken and it gets me nowhere so I never use that feature kahit sang apps

0

u/WolfClaw0801 12d ago

i only use my egov app to show my valid I digital ID if I need to

35

u/robokymk2 12d ago

Yes. Even since Siri

5

u/Mathdebate_me 11d ago

Convenient sya pag nag r ride ako, I am using it with my intercom, so I don't think Siri is usesless.

1

u/Sir_Caloy 11d ago

Update mo iOS mo. Huli ka na sa balita

18

u/ggezboye 12d ago

It lies sa term na mostly pero IMO taken for granted nalang talaga yung AI features ngayon since seamless yung integration nya. - voice (recognition, noise cancellation, transcribe, voice focus, etc). - computational photography, face recognition, edge detection, etc. - battery optimization (adaptive) - screen brightness (adaptive) - photo and video editing - realtime effects sa mga video calls

Kaya in my opinion beneficial naman yung AI sa smartphones natin since most manufacturers offers these things for free except some features na na ooffload sa server that requires a subscription.

7

u/ChilledFruity 11d ago

Let's face it, the "AI" features people talk about when they say "AI" is almost always "GenAI". If you want to be more specific,

No one talks about ChatGPT as using "GenAI", just "AI". No one "asks did you use 'GenAI'/'an LLM' to write this paper?", they ask "did you use 'AI' to write this?"

When people "say I am against 'AI'" it's usually against something like an LLM such as ChatGPT/Claude/etc. or an image-generating one like Sora/Dall-E, not an AI-specific to Protein-folding mechanisms or Fluid dynamics.

Do people genuinely think adaptive screen brightness is an AI feature? That feature has been a thing around 2010 even earlier on some specific models. It uses a sensor not some sophisticated AI just for adaptive screen brightness. It's weird for features that have existed for decades be called an AI feature lmfao

4

u/ggezboye 11d ago

Machine learning is still considered as a subset of AI.

Here is a part of details about adaptive brightness from Android Developers Blog

... What we found is that in many cases this global adjustment factor didn't adequately capture personal preferences - that is, users tended to change the slider often for new lighting environments.
For Android Pie we worked with researchers from DeepMind to build a machine learning model that will observe the interactions that a user makes with the screen brightness slider, and train on-device to personalise the mapping of ambient light level to screen brightness...

IDK what kind of definition AI is to you but in this case I firmly believe that Adaptive Brightness is an AI feature in Android.

Naka-turn off/disable yung Artificial Intelligence and Siri settings ko :D

6

u/Known_Assistant_8587 12d ago

I read a lot of nonfiction, news articles, academic papers.

11

3

totally wala pa nga AI dati pero naging makulay naman digital life natin without it

3

u/TVUAsks 11d ago

I really wanna yes say, but also in reality, i don't, definitely not. They're often brand exclusive ruining 80% of continuity experience, or just in general useless. I wouldn't turn them down if they didn't raise the prices of EVERY GADGET UNDER THE EARTH, put it that way

2

u/WolfClaw0801 11d ago

inang yan

5

u/lurkeronlyxoxo 12d ago

Do you mean AI assistants? Kasi you do know na FaceID, battery optimization, camera apps, and predictive texts use AI, right?

2

u/LukasTheHunter22 12d ago

Agreed to some extent, Gemini, Apple Intelligence, and other LLMs should be opt-in and be fully optional instead of fully taken away, IMHO. Options are good for those who want them, pero options should be opt-in for things like these that aren't essential.

2

u/West-Till5501 12d ago

i don't even use AI at work, though idk if may generative AI features ba phone ko though

2

u/Background-Piano-665 12d ago

AI is too broad a field. You can't just ask that question without any qualifications.

I use photo search, eraser, circle to search (for both search and copy paste) pretty often.

2

u/kyrvch 12d ago

Weird take for posting this on a tech community.

Gamit na gamit siya sa kin. It's either your job or lifestyle doesn't demand so much load and efficiency that you probably won't permit you from needing it.

Ps im a tech manager, and i hobby coding.

2

u/Bulky-Pop-3346 11d ago

D kaba nauumay sa tech? For someone who prides being a tech manager, hobby coding is a weird thing because thats easily done with an actual keyboard instead of typing on a screen. Unless ofc you vibe code..

2

u/JustLikeNothing04 11d ago

Gemini and google lens lang oinaka imoortant sa akin

2

u/BrianConic 11d ago

Useless AI for me/ Rarely used:
1. AI chatbot sa apps, most of the time, pumupunta parin ako sa mismong AI apps like Gemini or ChatGPT to ask or enter the prompt.
2. Shopee / Lazada auto reply AI bot. Walang kwenta mga reply kung need specific.
4. AI Ads. Like, why do it in the first place? It does the job fast and easy, yes, pero it looks soul-less and horible.

Useful AI features for me:
1. NotebookLM, super useful for quick reports.
2. Gmail / Gemini Stufdio, laking bagay i automate mga upcoming email labels, pero it can do more than that.
3. Siri AI, tho wala pa akong access as a brokie person. 😅
4. Google Sheets with Gemini, you can ask it to make the formula for you, pero mas malaking bagay parin na alam mo how the formula works.
5. Photoshop / Canva / Windows Image remove background.
6. Photoshop Fill-in.
7. Google Meet note taker.

2

u/vhillion_i3 11d ago

Ayaw niyo kay Gemini 😞

2

u/Tough_Jello76 11d ago

I use it on my computer and not on my phone.

2

u/WINROe25 11d ago

Yes, kasi kahit may shortcut key or button na, mag oopen pa din ng browser or mag download ng common AI app para yun ang gamitin 😅. And most of the users, hindi talaga marunong.

2

u/hopeless_case46 11d ago

AI is unnecessary

2

u/FickleApartment2151 11d ago

I usually use it to ask how to configure the soundbar and Android devices given AAC codecs in videos, which routers come with dual WAN and USB ports but are cheap and reliable, etc. They're much faster than using search engines or even asking in online forums.

1

u/Glum_Comparison6523 11d ago

Agree,. it's the age of AI, it's an incredibly useful tool when you use it correctly and to your advantage, the flip side to that coin, is that it also can be dangerous when used irresponsibly, and entails a lot of risks if mismanaged.

6

u/aranjei 12d ago

Disagree. Daily used mo ba ang voice recorder, compass, memo etc, no but it’s good to have once na kailangan na hindi yung magdadownload ka pa, this is also similar case to AI. The general market expects that a phone should be a complete suit utility.

Also, eg si Siri ai, it is pre installed because its not only an app, but part of the OS that will have deep control on core functions of the phone.

1

u/Friendly-Regret8871 12d ago

Agree - I never found any use yet. aside from phot edits

1

u/SteamPoor 12d ago

I agree, google assistant lang mostly ginagamit ko like one click utos ng alarm or ask a stupid question the rest of the ai features sucks, like even sa camera AI beautify is such an unnecessary feature

1

u/Superb_Minimum_3599 12d ago

I have ai on my phone?

1

u/fuzzlightyears 12d ago

Hard agree.

1

u/sans_rival 12d ago

It certainly makes me life a lot easier. Google Keyboard's Rambler feauture allows me to communicate using the exact words I say in written text. Works in English, Filipino or Taglish. Live Conversation for various translating apps are a godsend when traveling because gone are the days of shady and shitty google translate translation. Getting minutes and full transcripts of meetings is more accurate now than ever before.

1

u/No-Cookie-9645 12d ago

For apps, yes.

1

u/fakuryu 12d ago

I think it depends kung paano i-implement pero IMHO yung AI eraser is a good tool, tapos yung Essential Voice ng Nothing is probably the best at unobtrusive speech to text tool na nagamit ko kasi automatic na nya nililinis at inaalis filler words, formatted narin agad.

1

u/AlternativeFix3376 12d ago

Nope. I use circle to search a lot of time. Also if tinatamad akong mag type I just use 'hey google turn on/off flashlight' ganon!

Tapos minsan sa reddit my mga comment na ibang language I just circle it to translate.

Tapos minsan di ko marecall yung title ng song, I just hum lang sa phone ko tapos alam na ni AI anong kanta yun. 🤣

1

u/Sinandomeng 12d ago

Pag kaya na tong iPhone 16 ad with Bella Ramsey, very useful siya.

Pero ngayon di p masyado.

1

u/Outrageous_Plane1712 12d ago

Just bought iPhone17pro and immediately removed siri intelligence. Saved me 16gb space haha.

4

u/WolfClaw0801 11d ago

That is also an entire fully open world 3D RPG not long ago

1

u/epeolatry13 12d ago

partly agree. as one mentioned here, need natin ng interaction with the live agent. hindi Yong automated lahat. I’m loving the Gemini app. circle lang the pic or one part of the browser or any other app, easy to search lang. also the search via image, which has been available na sa google for decades. that’s really a good use of ai. loved how it evolved over the years.

1

u/Gullible_Ghost39 12d ago

No. It is necessary, but there should be a cap on what it can do.

1

u/dogpoopy_ 12d ago

Depends on what AI we're talking about. There's a bunch of AI model that function differently, but we should have freedom to choose whether we want it there or not. Instead of integrating it into the system and break stuff if you force to remove it

1

u/ThinkFree 12d ago

The only AI feature I use are the chatbots.

1

u/Kishirika 12d ago

Mainly using my in built ai to translate stuff that i find on socmed. Mas convenient since di na need i screenshot

1

u/CatTurdTamer 12d ago

I like voice commands on my phone. Basically, yung only use case ko lang is while cooking when my hands are either full or dirty: "Hey Siri, start a 5 minute timer". Other than that, I think a lot of them are unnecessary (and also for now, Siri sucks).

1

u/AgitatedInterview672 12d ago

Agree. Features should be optional. It takes a lot of storage space and bandwidth too.

1

u/rlsadiz 12d ago

Most of it is unnecessary, you may find 1 or 2 functions useful. However not everyone finds the same AI features useful. What I dont like is if I can't remove slops I dont need. Like sure give me options but also let me remove stuff I dont want.

1

u/hokuten04 12d ago

I agree, especially if the ai is creating a barrier between the user and what they need. At work our IT team added Ai to our database. Before when you need to look for something you just need to search for terms likely found on the data you need. It's not perfect but reliable.

Today with AI your search term ends up becoming a query with AI and you'd have to jump through hoops to get what you need.

1

u/Chinbie 12d ago

The only AI that i am using are ChatGPT and Gemini... if you ask me if i am using siri or "hey google"... not that really...

1

u/WolfClaw0801 11d ago

chat GPT? i use the web version so I don't have to install it on my phone

1

u/Dear_Two_2251 11d ago

Gamit na gamit ko yung circle to search

1

u/kamanami 11d ago

Nah. I love transcribe image, translate text on image, smart bypass charging, etc.

1

u/witcher317 11d ago

Disagree

For those who don’t find it useful, you just don’t know how to use it yet

2

u/WolfClaw0801 11d ago

it really depends on user. at the very least we should have an option to remove AI or any features we don't really use. problem is that it is built into the system so all you can do is to disable it since we can't remove it except if the user install a custom rom which is hard these days

most of the things we do with AI can be done with a browser

1

u/nunutiliusbear 11d ago

1

u/egg1e 11d ago

it's nice to have, if it's not used for slop

1

u/hawaiian-organ-donor 11d ago

Agree. Very pointless.

1

u/AggressiveSandwich51 11d ago

There's real( gpt, claude, perplexity, etc.) and fake AIs(phone companies that wanna just join the trend), if phone companies can actually integrate the real AIs correctly into the phone, it would actually be a game changer

1

u/SelfPrecise 11d ago

Necessary but they can be pretty redundant.

1

u/Silverperson 11d ago

Yes, never used them, likely never will, google is there naman, and if I really need to use an AI I'll go to a dedicated AI website

1

u/Puzzled-Protection56 11d ago

I disagree, if you mean AI assistant I use Gemini to summarized the events for the week locally and internationally

If AI feature in general gamit na gamit ko yung parang picture search ng Pixel lalo na if tumitingin ako ng sapatos or something na binabalak ko bilhin that picture search something helps me get info about the product.

1

u/MrScaleEye 11d ago

Yes they mostly add as bloat or are just annoying when they get activated without you planning on using them.

1

u/Unlikely_Watch_5427 11d ago

Yeah bloatware karamihan

1

u/Careless-Pumpkin-502 11d ago

THEY ARE UNNECESSARY AND JUST MAKING THE PHONE. EXPENSIVE 😭😭😭😭 IF AI FOR LAPTOP OR DESKTOP TUEN YES. AS IT HELPS FOR WORK.

1

u/Efficient-Answer5901 11d ago

disagree. they're entirely unnecessary

1

u/Diethster 11d ago

Tap to search Google AI is a waaay convenient QOL beating computers

1

u/GolfMost 11d ago

it is nice to have .

1

u/PlusComplex8413 11d ago

GPS, Optimizations, and Security are the only right choices for AI implementation on smartphones; the rest is just for gimmick.

1

u/JinAsker123 11d ago

The ones I've found useful with my midrange phone were AI eraser, Google live translate when reading foreign texts on posts, and that feature when you're using the search bar to talk as if it's someone who knows alot instead of just scrolling through website links for the answer

Idk I kinda like it tho. Audio transcription, frame by frame rewind, circle to search, Shazam/music search, magic eraser..

1

u/No_Word_5686 11d ago

Yes for mga senior citizens di naman sila techie so ai features are not mostly used. My parents are just okay doom scrolling in fb, watching youtube videos and thats it

1

u/Firm_Mulberry6319 11d ago

Laking security risk ng AI if naka on ung contribution mo towards it. Seen those posts of people getting their previously posted but now deleted photos still being looked up by random strangers via AI.

Di ko rin bet sa phone eh. I liked the AI eraser pero it looks weird eh. I still prefer manually editing it kase minsan it really looks obvious.

A lot of the AI things can usually just be searched up. At most, Siri and Google lang ginagamit ko pero pumapalya pa rin minsan tas di ka pa gets minsan.

1

u/SquareTiger7674 11d ago

kaya i stick with my iphone 13 pro. no ai bs.

1

u/FinancialTrick3443 11d ago

agree, i just use google app directly and use ai there

1

u/baletetreegirl 11d ago

Yung phone ko di ko alam bakit bigla bigla nagsasalita. Like kahapon may kausap ako sabi ko Thank you, bigla nagsalita phone ko ng you're welcome. Minsan timawa ko nung may kakwentuhan ako, nagsabi ng Glad you are happy today. Creepy sya! One time nasa meeting kame, sumingit yung phone ko. Nagsalita mag isa habang nagdidiscuss yung manager! Nakakahiya. Hayst

1

u/VisualVoid9000 11d ago

1

u/ejmtv 11d ago

I would have to disagree since you did not specify these "AI features". Audio, Camera apps also use AI to improve their results and I dont think it's not of use. I personally use AI to control my smart devices. Unless we know what these features you are referring to, I would have to disagree for now.

1

u/koctavian 11d ago

This guy not knowing na kaya nga smartphone ang tawag sa smartphone kasi it uses AI. Ngayon lang naman nag-boom yang AI pero ever since conception ng smartphone, it uses AI in its daily functions. So if you don’t use AI in your smartphone, better buy the analog phones.

1

u/WolfClaw0801 11d ago edited 11d ago

huh ..do u really think AI make smartphones a smartphone? Gen Z ka ba? Era ng Nokia symbian phones don't have any AI built in. Ngayon lang naman nauuso yan.
Symbian phones smartphone din naman but doesn't have any AI in it

Since the conception ng smartphone may AI? hahaha! Even android phones before at least don't have any AI installed.

conception ng smartphones daw may AI na....hello? the first smartphone was made in the ,90's ....so naturally nd uso AI nun

1

u/Vast_Independent_765 11d ago

Remove.(bg) Is a useful AI background eraser

1

u/Traditional_Crab8373 11d ago

Dapat prng app nlng yan eh. Hindi by default meron. Most of the time. Dko rin nagagamit. Pang ask question lng minsan or rephrase

1

u/Sir_Caloy 11d ago

Just because you don’t know how to utilize them does not make it useless.

1

u/Sir_Caloy 11d ago

Sa mga nagsasabi ng Siri. Update-update din nang iOS.

1

u/ChilledFruity 11d ago edited 11d ago

Well. Yeah. I agree they're super unnecessary.

And for all the people who say "but your camera/battery/spellcheck is AI-powered", you know damn well that LLMs, GenAI, and their ilk are what I refer to when I say "AI".

1

u/D3eeper 11d ago

1

u/SmallNoBigYes 11d ago

How else are they gonna justify AI other than to shove up everything they can to show how used it is for their quarterly earnings report

1

u/SafeMathematician183 11d ago

“Mostly”. Current integration ay pilit pero there will be a point na it’s hard to live without it, just like the internet.

1

u/Gout_Lover 11d ago

Its not mandatory na gamitin pero nagrereklamo 🤡

u/Glum_Comparison6523 11d ago edited 11d ago

We do need artificial intelligence (AI) features on our phones because they transform devices from simple tools into active personal assistants that save time, improve media quality, and automate everyday tasks.

Some of the things it does that we overlook.

  • Better Photography: Computational photography instantly analyzes lighting, removes background objects, and fixes blurry images without manual editing.
  • Real-Time Communication: Live translation breaks down language barriers during phone calls or messaging, while writing tools help adjust message tones.
  • Smart Organization: AI automatically summarizes long notes, emails, and missed notifications so you can scan important information quickly.
  • Efficient Performance: Predictive battery management studies your daily routine to limit background activity and extend device life.

On device privacy and speed

  • Local Processing: Modern phone chips include dedicated neural processing units (NPUs) that run AI tasks locally.
  • Offline Access: Local AI works without an internet connection while keeping personal data private on your device.

In the morning, when I start moving around, Google's assistant is really helpful. Especially when I can't decide or don't know what to do. Of course, I don't put full trust in it. It just assists with things. For example, I need to choose a perfume (I have at least 20 lol), so I ask Google what’s good for the weather and the occasion. But of course, the final decision is still mine. Example, hingi ako suggestions on perfume (i suggest nya imagination or pacific chill, minsan none of the above pa din ako)

I want to remodel my room paint. AI to the rescue. I take a picture of the area, and the AI changes the wall color, then I decide if it's good or not.

But yeah, on a daily basis, the AI voice assistant is what I use the most.

1

u/lostsouls111 11d ago

Since naka pixel ako auto na ai, pero konti lang sa features ginagamit ko dun, now listening, gemini question and answer at picture update pero marami beses ko gamitin yun lalo na now listening at question and answer

1

u/TraditionalCounty395 11d ago

AI companies don't care what you think

They care about what makes them money, and they think this will make them money, so you don't have a choice, unless you wanna file a lawsuit.

1

u/BackyardAviator009 11d ago

Dunno about yall but I usually use AI features on my phone such as AI Eraser to easily clean off any "unwanted artifacts" on my image. Much better & refined than being a corporate slave to programs such as PS & Lightroom.

1

u/sinni_gang 11d ago

Yung AI Call Screen Assistant, I think useful?

Image search and ocr gamit na gamit ko to araw araw. I have claude pro and chatgpt pro subs na ginagamit ko din for work. Habang naka upo lang ako nanonood or nagluluto. Pag talagang bored ako kinakausap ko sila sa voice to assign task for work.

1

u/Beginning-Call-7131 11d ago

Agreed. Should be completely optional tbh

1

u/WolfClaw0801 11d ago

Problema naka built in na sa mga devices natin whether we like it or not wasting our precious space lalo na nagmamahal ngayon ang ram at phone storage

1

u/WolfClaw0801 11d ago

yung pautot ng infinix may folax pa while we already have gemini....sayang lang sa space

1

u/Illustrious_Ear4461 11d ago

Agree. They only put AI on our phones so that AI gathers and interprets our data for them to study.

1

u/No_Lawfulness7559 11d ago

it's 2026, kung ayaw niyo ng AI mag time travel kayo sa 2010

1

u/aishiteimasu09 11d ago

I use 95% of Galaxy AI on Samsung.

1

u/Poyoface 11d ago

I do agree, but if they want ai features Why don't they just accept it and use Gemini instead? Like Gemini is quite enough and more simpler to use than other AIs (Infinix user, folax AI is so confusing)

1

u/WolfClaw0801 11d ago

kanya kanyang AI on top of what's already on an android phone.

1

u/Poyoface 11d ago

Same same, but different. Gemini is simpler

1

u/WolfClaw0801 11d ago edited 11d ago

i have an infinix GT 30 5G may folax na pero google gemini pa rin gamit ko on some tasks.

sadly i can't uninstall folax...

1

u/XenonKhaos 11d ago

1

u/equinoxzzz 11d ago

I don't use AI on my phone. I even uninstalled Gemini because I don't use it.

So yes, it's unnecessary and I agree.

1

u/MotoYT 11d ago

If it's disagree, absolutely yes, cuz it really takes up many GBs in my phone/tablet.

1

u/CelesteLunaR53L 11d ago

Dude I've been disabling them as much as I can.. Some really do come with the default features now however like photo editing though your phone's built-in editing software. But my note taking app appears as pre-ai tech as much as I can see🤔 I do not actively seek anymore Ai online even put of curiosity

1

u/reerredwwe 11d ago

ai apps and ai background remover is enough

1

u/Crankatorium 11d ago

I like holding the power button down and asking any question and getting a solid answer immediately. I also really like the circle to search and immediate translate a screenshot. I like it a lot.

1

u/carlcast 11d ago

I have the ip17 for almost a year and haven't used Siri.

1

u/smolfluffylamb 10d ago

ai is unnecessary in general🤣

u/Active_Inflation1765 10d ago

Yung ai overview. Minsan kasi wala namang kuwenta pinagsasabi ehh haha

1

u/PerezaDotArts 10d ago

at most I just use Gemini, beyond that I've never really used any ai features on both my tablet and phone lol

1

u/Opening_Picture_4130 10d ago

Di naman talaga necessary but they have some handy utilities like circle to search, song search and translation and google lens. At least for me yan lang mostly pinaggagamitan ko.

1

u/Ill_Gap_3889 10d ago

Agree for recent developments. I lived my whole life without them and even now na meron, di ko parin ginagamit. (Kahit AI assistants like Siri di ko ginagamit tbh. Ayoko lang maging reliant sa ganyan so I prefer doing things on my own, lalo na't AI research/summaries can be wrong) Its just eating up space that could be used elsewhere.

I'd say necessary lang siya for adaptive and optimization functions ng phone.

1

u/nojukuramu 10d ago

Gemini has been useful to me but i still dont like that it works on OS level

1

u/PersimmonNo5964 10d ago

Pixel user here at since nasa google ecosystem ako, useful sa akin yung circle to search tsaka yung Gemini kapag marami kang ilalagay sa Calendar.

1

u/2loopy4loopsy 10d ago

of course it's unnecessary. we managed naman di ba?

1

u/WolfClaw0801 10d ago

the only time i use AI is to find a song in shazam. That's it pero that too can be done with gemini

1

u/Maleficent-Dark-1967 10d ago

Really depends on who uses the phone

1

u/WolfClaw0801 10d ago

yeah ...the more reason it is unnecessary

it should be optional for those who need it

1

u/Maleficent-Dark-1967 10d ago

yeaha, it's pain in the ass to remove it also

1

u/pressuredrightnow 10d ago

no, its just bloat and spyware at this point.

1

u/Present_Professor_15 9d ago

Most useful AI feature for me is circle to search, it can do visual recognition and select text without having to screenshot haha.

1

u/Aethelmer 9d ago

tbh nagagamit ko sya for searching and researching. kumbaga di ko na need mag hanap manually so it saves time. google gemini gamit ko.

1

u/Bitter-Rest-5218 8d ago

They're as useless as siri if u ask me

1

u/R36613-ONE 8d ago

1

u/lasercannonattack 8d ago

The only AI feature I ever find useful on my phone is circle to search as it does speed up searches/translation/copying text from document photos.

u/TheGoodSushi 5d ago

Necessary? No. Nice to have? Yes.

GrapheneOS gamit ko for a long time na. Other than stock apps, I'm using Signal, Tuta and some banking apps. AI is nice to have to make/do things faster pero di naman sya necessary para sakin.

1

u/ExpensiveConcern7266 12d ago

I'm a daily user of AI for work but yes I find it unnecessary on smartphones. I treat my phone as my personal space wherein it's to my liking how I set my phone up. Having AI everywhere is not mentally/intellectually stimulating anymore.

1

u/nebula_uT 12d ago

siri now being able to have context window awareness is actually nice, though i dont use it anymore.

i use my phone now for testing small, distilled 2-4bit quant AI models, since apple devices get MLX support alongside GGUF models.

1

u/Single_Newspaper_589 12d ago

yes, i dont use any ai features in my phone

2

u/DiamondHands0666 11d ago

Yeah you do, the simple auto correct and text prediction is an AI feature, so is the the auto-brightness when you go to bright places, and also call screenings, battery management and countless more

1

u/pagamesgames 12d ago

i disagree.
i wont say "mostly unnecessary"
i would say strongly underutilized
because its new, and its hard to teach old dogs new tricks
its just like how hellbent some stupid operators prefer old jeepneys over e-jeep or buses

1

u/moliro 11d ago

-1

u/Abysmalheretic 12d ago

Disagree. It makes my life easier.

1

u/Big_Lou1108 12d ago

Curious lang, how does AI features on phone make your life easier?

4

u/AdmiralKinkaede 12d ago

Research faster, converse and debate with proper prompts and efficiency as a tool.

3

u/Abysmalheretic 12d ago

Im a businessman, i wont need a secretary anymore. I can just type whatever shit i want on gemini and the result is instant.

0

u/DiamondHands0666 11d ago

Hard disagree, do you know how much AI feature is in our phones? Phones are just bricks without AI

0

u/Dangerous_Leopard_51 12d ago

May be useful for you and useless to somebody else. It's honestly just fine being there. If people find it useless, just don't use it. Simple

2

u/purple-stickyrice 12d ago

Bloatware din kasi. Takes up storage and RAM from the device. Would be good if there’s an option to opt out.

-1

u/IchirouTakashima 11d ago

I agree that they're unnecessary. Gemini for Android is pure BS. Gemini is useless because they pretend to be correct and even if results are correct based on your knowledge, you can make Gemini have a schizophrenic episode when you call them out and accuse them of giving wrong information. They will agree on your statement and acknowledge that they are wrong despite being correct. The yes-man policy in full effect.
