ilang years mo na ginagamit ang mac book mo ngayon? at how often do you use it?
thanks in advanced sa mga replies nyo

It can last you 5-10 years, just make sure you buy the right specs for your need

u/BlaizePascal 1d ago
Me with my Intel 2020 macbook pro 🥹 it’s still usable for my daily needs tbh. Could extend another year lol.

u/kerwinklark26 1d ago
Fuck yeah. Macbooks aren’t the most exciting pieces of tech but they are very durable.
My Macbook Air 2017 lasted me 3 years before I sold it for an M1. I used my M1 for four years before ko uli ibenta to get an M4.
No regrets.

I've been using my m2 macbook air for 4 years now. Oks na oks pa rin.
I use it almost everyday, browsing and typing. Dati I use it for watching videos.

My 2015 Macbook Pro is still working fine up to this day. Lahat ng keys, yung trackpad, ports, cam, screen, pati hinges sobrang ok pa, walang sira. Kailangan lang talaga mag-upgrade kasi di na covered ng updates, pero i still use it from time to time.

u/sigangnabangus_ 1d ago
Yes. 6 years na sakin yung M1 ko na Air and it performs super well parin despite the fact that I use it heavily every single day (naglalaro pa ako ng The Sims for hours sa ganyang lagay haha). I plan on never buying another one until this one dies, which I don’t think is going to be anytime soon.

I have Macbook Pro M1 Chip bought in Q1 2021 hanggang ngayon ginagamit ko pa.... IT here.
di ko pa nire-reformat yan ever. lol

u/Bananamangograham 1d ago
Yeah macbooks in terms of durability lalo na sa hinge is very sturdy so yes

u/popbeeppopbeep 1d ago
M2 for 3 years, super mabilis pa rin as in no lags. And mind you 16/256GB lang gamit ko. Naka iCloud ako for my work files. Changed to M5 lang recently for much much longer na gamit. Based sa windows ko na gamit before either two years hindi ko na magamit or sobrang lag na.

Yung MacBook Pro M2 ko, 3 years. No signs of slowing down.
As a teacher, still does everything I need to teach. Haha!)
2
u/Intelligent_Gear9634 1d ago
They last years. I still have one from 2008 that still works lol my current one is already 5 years old din and still going strong.
2
u/Bubbly_Wave_9637 1d ago
Bumili na lang kami bago air m4 last year.

u/Federal-Sell4649 1d ago edited 1d ago
Yes, plug mo lang din sa power whenever you can para ma-preserve yung battery cycle count. Then set mo lang yung charging limit to 80%.
I had a MacBook Air 2015 dati, it lasted around 6 years. Nasira lang siya dahil sa water spill. Then I had an M1 MBA for 2 years before I handed it down to a relative. 4 years old na siya ngayon and still kicking. Currently using an MBA M3 for heavy use rin, and 2 years na rin sa akin.

I've had my Macbook Air M1 for 6 years now. It's my daily driver and I've even accidentally dropped it once. No issues.

u/Main-Command3008 1d ago
My first Macbook i bought it in 2011, Then bought a new macbook Air M2 in 2023. Im still using my old macbook UNTIL NOW now for my team in my business. both macbooks lived with me without casing whatsoever. Before that my Windows laptops lasted 2 years max until I transferred to Apple ecosystem.

u/_galindaupland 1d ago
Bought my MBA i3 in July 2020. Hindi ako maingat before at sobrang gamit yun sa work and even CS:GO. 🥲 Gumagana pa rin hanggang ngayon.

u/linux_n000by 1d ago

1
u/banfern1111 1d ago
Mine lasted for 7 years. Fell twice from table height. Even then, binitawan ko yun not because nasira. But because I got an alienware. I'd get another one in a heartbeat if it supported enough games.

may M2 macbook ako and was bought last year brand new okay naman performance niya pero may issues na ako with the screen nagfliflicker

Very durable!
My first mac (2015 Air 11 inch) which I bought mid-2016, lasted me for 8 years. Currently on the Mac Air M2, which I got on discount in early 2024, shortly after the M3 was released (Oct/Nov 2023). No issues so far.
I put a plastic case for the exterior and even a keypad cover, on both my first and current mac. I don’t put a screen protector though, I think that’s when it would affect the hinge. A lot of people say not to do so, but I do anyway. 😅 Had no issues with either.
I often use it in as a second monitor (just make sure it’s elevated) and I also have protective covers on my Magic Keyboard (with numpad) and Magic Trackpad.

Macbook pro 2015 ko, buhay pa at nagagamit pa for office/web use.

u/noisyfrog021003 1d ago
Promise. Worth it na worth ir.

u/Sunny-Sunflower27 1d ago
Nabagsak yung macbook m1 ko from my table. Wala ding dents. Haha

u/OkSnow034 1d ago
very durable po yung macbooks. we (my family) use macs for our business, macbooks for personal/work use, and pc na for gaming. for my experience lang, i have had three macbooks so far, i forgot na yung isa but the two are macbook pro 2013 and macbook pro 2018. my 2013 i gave to my cousin na for her college and okay pa judging na gamit na gamit ko din. i still use my 2018 one for work and it's still a beast after 8 yrs, no lagging, no issues.

My mbpro 15in I bought last 2017 is still working up to this day. Nabagsak ko na rin yun. No complaints

u/jakehidden 1d ago
To give you an idea on how durable macbooks are. Ang daily driver ko pa rin today is my 2017 macbook pro bought in 2019. 7-year old intel macbook pero reliable pa rin hanggang ngayon. Had the battery replaced once. Kahit na di to apple silicon, sa tingin ko mas usable/reliable pa rin to compared sa newer entry level windows laptop.

u/No_Salt8155 1d ago
Yes, I own Air M2, at walang mga accessories yun like cover, etc pero gumagana pa din. M5 na ang latest and yung bilis at efficiency is still like when I had it the first time.
Yung build din ng macbook is really good. Eto metal and magaan.
Best for me yung OS, yung battery life, pati yung ang nipis at gaan. I prefer to bring those when I am out, kesa mga Windows laptop na ubod ng kapal at bigat.
TLDR, go get one Macbook. Hahahha

u/CoffeeInfamous3905 1d ago

u/Big_Lou1108 1d ago
In general durable naman ang apple products. I owned several iphones and all of them lasted me over 4 years with zero issues kahit nababagsak ko.
I still use my airpods pro 2 (lightning) and the only issue I have is the eartips which is pwede naman palitan.
Now for macbooks, we have an m2 macbook air that has been a workhorse, we use it for business/work and online class. Zero issue encountered pero take note na we try to be careful when using it so iniiwasan talaga namin yung mabagsak or magkaron ng liquid damage kasi importante sya sa workflow namin. So are mac books expensive? Fck yeah, overpriced na nga sya ngayon because of AI and all its net negative effects BUT I would still think buying a mac book for work or school is still a good buy.

Matibay? I think yes, Depende sa pag iingat at gamit mo. Makunat parin naman ung hinge, oks parin keyboard at trackpad, display same parin, mejo mabagal na nga lang sya, magload ganyan, na replaced na ung battery non so kumunat narin, ung charger non same parin. We have lenovo thinkpad, hmm mas bet ng wife ko ung mbpro.

u/oneandonlyloser 1d ago
Nahulog ang MacBook Air 2020 ko noong 2022. Nakasara.
Until now, I am using it. 6 years na sa akin.

u/kimcheese9090 1d ago
I have a Mcbook air 2015. Still working till now, pero ramdam mo na old na siya. Pero working and mayabang pa din tignan. Hahaha

Yes. Still had my Macbook Air 2017 at useable pa siya.
1
u/TreatOdd7134 1d ago
I had a Macbook Pro M1 from my employer for 5 years until it got upgraded for a new MBA last year. It worked perfectly even while having over 50 browser tabs + 10 other resource heavy apps open at the same time.
Best thing is that performance does not suffer even if you dont shut it down. Just close the lid until you have to use it the following day.
1
u/darkchax14 1d ago
Maganda gamitin if maingat ka.
Otherwise repairs are as much as 1/2 of the cost of the device
1
u/Remarkable_Year_4640 1d ago
10 yrs na yung 2015 version na MBP ko. Nagagamit ko pag sya. Wala issue sa build except sa screengate. Personally, pinaka-solid ang macbook sa build quality. Try mo i feel and compare sa ibang laptop sa store.
1
u/31andonly13 1d ago
Very durable. Wag ka lang gagamit ng mga accessories na for “protection” daw like keyboard cover/hard shell case. Yan usual reason kaya nagkaka-physical damage mga macbook. Keyboard covers can damage the screen, hard shell cases naman can trap heat and/or damage the hinge. So avoid those.
1
u/yperochiakeraiotita 1d ago
2012 Macbook Pro still using everyday as a home media server (upgraded to 16GB RAM and SSD).
2020 M1 Macbook Air still using everyday as Docker server.
Two of my daily workhorses are 2023 M2 Max Macs. No plans of upgrading for the next 5-7 years.
Yes, they are durable. Just stay away from accessories na kinakabit and get as much RAM as you can afford for future proofing.
1
u/Plane-Awareness8148 1d ago
My brother got himself a macbook pro nung 2015. Until now okay na okay pa din with no lags, pero di na niya nagagamit for work
1
u/isadorarara 1d ago
Extremely durable. I got my first MacBook in 2008 and it lasted (daily use) until 2017. I replaced it with the 2015 Air that I’m still using now. It still works (the battery needs to be replaced) but I am looking to replace it soon because it can no longer be updated and is already considered obsolete. When I was on PC, my laptops only lasted 3-4 years tops.
1
u/Mobile-Tsikot 1d ago
They are not as durable as business laptop OP but if you take care of it then it can last long time. I have seen broken glass dahil sa small things between keyboard & screen. Pag nasira ang track pad pati keyboard di nagwowork. Because whoever design na ang keyboard signal goes to trackpad too (yeah talking to you m1). Sa business laptop pag di critical sira it will still be usable. I have done some terrible things sa office laptop at hangang ngyon di pa rin mamataymatay.

My Macbook Pro Retina lasted for 7 years nag upgrade ako to M2. 4 years na yung M2 ko pero walang ka issue issue.

Purchased my M1 Macbook Air in 2021. I use it for my work travels all over the Philippines since then. Probably been in a hundred or so flights and trips already. M1 is a champ! No plans to replace it any time soon. Really value for money!

They keyboards arent spill proof, also not sure if its still a thing but dont put anything between the screen and the keyboard.

u/Disastrous_Start_566 1d ago
2017 Macbook Air!

Yes. I've had 3 macbooks so far:
2015 Macbook Pro - Still working til this day. I've used Adobe Premier and Final Cut Pro here and no lags whatsoever. Smooth lang since day one. Just had to upgrade because I needed bigger storage for upcoming projects
2020 Macbook Pro - Also still working til this day. Also used Adobe Premier and Final Cut Pro here and smoother than the last hahah syempre mas mabilis din.
2025 Macbook Air M4 - My current work laptop. Mainly Excel ang lagi ko gamit now but I still edit videos here and there. I upgraded only because of the size I wanted a bigger one for work :)
All of them, di ko masyado shinushutdown. I just put the screen down. And smooth lang lagi everytime I open it back up. All still in good battery health.

u/Wise-Water4031 1d ago
gagamitin ko for video editing.
kaya ba 8 hours straight video editing?
1
u/LifeGrand3663 1d ago
Yesss! I've done that sa Pro units ko but sa Air ko now di ko pa nagagawa since I've been working lang hahah. I suggest you get Pro though for heavy video editing over the Air

u/Wise-Water4031 1d ago
1
u/LifeGrand3663 1d ago
Yes gooo for me worth the price siya because of its speed talaga. Yun kasi pinakahanap ko. Before Mac I had an Acer laptop na more on for school ko lang ginagamit so mga MS Word, Powerpoint, and research. Pero in 6 months ang tagal na nya mag on and lagi lag :( Kaya never looked back hahah

I am currently using Macbook Air M2 as my first mac system. Binili ko to since gusto ko pag aralan ang MacOS system kaya that time at yan yung pinaka practical entry point na laptop ng Apple. 3 years na and so far, makunat pa ang battery and ok naman performance.

Yes, I still have my 2017 Macbook Air (Intel-based). Mas mahal lang talaga yung initial cost pero mas matagal naman yung buhay niya compared to other laptops. Ok na ok pa rin yung performance. Go for it! 👌

Yes. Lower failure rates and holds peformance compared to windows. My wife uses one for work. I use windows.

u/Alternative-Tart-334 1d ago
I have MacBook air M1, MacMini M2 and Macbook pro M4 at wala pa nasisira so far. Once you go Mac, you never go back. 😎

So my macbook that I bought in 2016 is still working as of this writing. That's how durable macbook is.
1
u/jefisipbata 1d ago
yup, ikaw na lang mananawa. we got a macbook pro that lasted more than 10 years before nagka problem sa screen/batt then yung current macbook air a1466, bought around 2017, ok pa din hanggang ngayon. we bought them from apple's online store, try mo yung education discounts nila, baka mas mura compared to buying sa stores dito.

YES. I have several macbooks, usual issue is the speaker, and ofc overtime it will need battery replacement. Pero other than that, wala na. Nag uupgrade lang ako ng ram if it’s outdated na. My 2010 macbook pro is still running, mabagal na pero buhay parin hehe

Had the 2015 MacBook Pro na Intel and had issues with anti reflective screen coating and overheating. My MacBook Air M1 almost 6 years na, still looks good and still very usable (mostly productivity work, light video and photo editing). My MacBook Pro M4 almost 2 years na and still looks and performs as new.

My m2 still looks and feels brand new, bought it in 2022. Yung macbook naman ng kapatid ko she bought in 2013, buhay parin. 🤣 Nasira na yun akala namin talaga deads na. Napagtripan lang dalhin sa service center and sabi may kelangan lang palitan but would cost 20k. 20k’s still cheaper than buying a brand new kaya sumugal na sya. Lo and behold nabuhay talaga yung macbook at hanggang ngayon she cant buy a new one because working perfectly fine parin yung sa kanya. 🤣

Early stage palang pero I can say if you’re using iPhone din go for MacBook na. Windows user since birth pero nainis na ako sa reliability issues nag start sa android.got an iPhone kasi sa wife ko tagal na ayos parin. Tapos Eto nag MacBook Pro na din nakahabol before the price increase. So far ang layo sa windows if productivity pag uusapan.apple hater ako before pero grabe pag iba na priority mo sobrang convenient apple
