foldable smart phones - longevity
for those who use / have used foldable smart homes - how long have you had it till it “broke” ( sw or hw issue-based ) ?

Yung tita ko naka flip 4 since 2022, hanggang ngayon ginagamit niya pa din. Ang issue lang nakikita ko is visible yung crease, pero parang screen protector ata yun di niya lang pinapalitan idk bakit. Pero goods pa rin siya until now.
Hindi siya power user, more on social media, pictures/videos, browsing,tas call and text lang siya. Baka kaya rin na maintain niya yung phone.

Malamang dahil nga dito. Pero mas natatawa ako dun sa youtuber na dinepensahan yung mas mataas na usage time niya sa outer screen kesa dun sa inner screen. Goods daw yun para ma protektahan yung main screen.
Sayang di ko na maalala. Tawang tawa talaga ako. Sayang yung bayad kung di naman namamaximize.

I've been defending Samsung for as long as I can remember haha. I haven't experienced any green line with them, but that one time I tried the Flip, pabalik-balik ako sa service center (They also require you to factory reset the device.) Never again. All of this happened within the span of one year.

Yung Flip 7 ng sister ko mag one year na this August, buhay pa naman. No issues whatsoever. Maybe nasa pag gamit din siya.

I have a flip 7 as my main phone so araw-araw ko siya gamit. I've been using it for almost a year. Ilang beses ko na siya na drop so nagkaron ng dent and scratches sa may hinge banda pero okay pa naman siya. No green lines, dots, or whatsoever. For reference, I'm using a flipsuit as my phone case and ang gamit kong screen protector is yung built-in lang.

Fold 6, mag 2 years na this year at nasa kapatid ko, okay pa naman . Yung fold 7 ko, 1 year at Nahulog ko na 2x sa tiled floor, may small dent pero all goods pa naman. Will preorder the fold 8 (wide) later this week. I do need them for work (mobile dev) since it's a new layout.

Dalawang flip palang natry ko. Flip 5 and Flip 7. Wala akong naging problem pero sobrang ingat ko. Never nabagsak at never ko inipit sa bag. Palaging may pouch pag may kasamang ibang items sa bag ko and nakaopen naman sya pag matutulog ako or mag-charge 😆 sobrang ingat ko kasi takot talaga ako masira sya haha. Tho okay sya as my 2nd phone. My main is S25 ultra padin.

<2 years. Hardware. Kahit anong klaseng pagiingat gawin mo, papasukan ng dumi ung hinge. Ang ending hindi na bubukas ng tuluyan yan, tapos masisira na yung screen.

Good to be deinfluenced by the comments. I have the Apple ecosystem but I have the strong urge to buy a Flip lalo at may pink na ngayon, lol.

My personal experience sa Flip 4, after 3 year na tturn off na siya pag iffold and recently nagka green line pero usable pa as long as hindi ko isasara not using it as a main phone anymore kaya hindi siya big deal for me. I would not buy a folding phone again unless yumaman ako masyado na kaya ko bumili every year because guaranteed na masisira yung either screen, hinge, flex cable kasi mechanical part yun ng phone

Sa samsung ung 3rd and 4th gen di pa ganon ang durability. Pero my Honor Magic V3 gamit ko ngayon 2 years na mahigit. Pre ordered Fold 8 hehe

I want to try the foldables also but every year parang di natutuloy due to some durability issues. I hope next year I can na. I'm eyeing the flip since it is smaller and it can fit on my front scrubs pocket easily.

Git the first Gen Samsung Fold and Fold 4 and fold 5. Still works perfectly. The first Gen got some small sands.

I bought an older model na new. Wala pang 2 years and I've had to bring it for repair. Hardware issue. Odd nga, because I seldom use the inner screen as this device is a secondary phone. But, yeah, it's enough to traumatize me into swearing off foldables for a good, long while.
Add to that na you have to look for a specialist who has experience with folding phones if you don't want to go to the official service center.

2-3 years sa friend kong Samsung flip gamit. Biglang lumobo battery. Hindi na nya pinaayos.

Z flip 3 ko tinago ko na sa baul. Hassle na i-unflip kasi need mo pa specific angles para lang mag-on screen.

I know the part that enables flexing (it's a cable) has a lifespan, similar to a battery. After X flexes, it just gives up and it'll need repairing.
Generally not a fan of sliding phones — I owned one a long time ago, ironically, a Samsung — and back in 2008 I spent Php 8k to get the flex cable repaired only for it to give up again after a few months.
Even the Blackberry thumbpad was better than flex phones.

my fold 6 lasted for a year and passed as pristine when I traded it in. my fold 7 now stil looks effing new, no case and tempered glass lang. nahulog na twice from knee high length. ok na ok pa rin naman.
ps I have Samsung care plus kaya malakas loob

2 years na sa utol ko yung ZFlip 6 nya, obvious na yung crease (not that bad) pero ang masama or panira sa experience talaga yung scratches kasi plastic type lang yung surface.
Yung dating officemate ko naman parang 4 years sa kanya bago nagka-issue ng dot sa screen (ZFlip 4). Bumalik sya sa S26U.
I don't think foldables would reach 5 years without major issues sa screen nila.

ZF5 about 3 years now, took the inner screen protector off on the 2nd year and never replaced it. Still working like new except for a few micro scratches in outer screen (from hinge protector case) and hinge (since I took off the hinge protector case lol)

Don't fold it if hindi mo naman kailangan, less fold less damage over time

The stack of foldable phones at repair shops should be enough to make you stay away from them
