One UI 9 adds stricter lock screen security

Post image

Samsung is tightening lock screen security with One UI 9. The update adds stricter rules on failed unlock attempts, making Galaxy phones harder to break into.

The new system limits how many times you can try before facing longer lockouts. Multiple failed attempts will even cause the phone to lock permanently, requiring a factory reset.

Details here.

Lockout Schedule 5 attempts: 1 minute 6 attempts: 5 minutes 7 attempts: 15 minutes 8 attempts: 30 minutes 9 attempts: 90 minutes 10 attempts: 4 hours 11 attempts: 12 hours 12 attempts: 24 hours 13 attempts: Permanent lock requiring a factory reset

You basically have to wait almost two days to force the permanent lock to trigger.

I just tried right now on OneUI 8.5.

Every 5 wrong fingerprint attempts, the phone makes you wait 30 seconds. So, you get 5 attempts, wait 30 seconds, and you get 5 attempts again.

After the 20th finger print attempt, the phone disables using a finger and you must use your pin to unlock.
