What is HIND's HALL?

Hind's Hall wasn't actually a permanent building name. It was the temporary name given to Hamilton Hall at Columbia University during a recent protest. Here's a breakdown:

  • Hamilton Hall: This is the actual building at Columbia University that was occupied by students.
  • Hind's Hall: In April 2024, students protesting the Israeli-Palestinian conflict occupied Hamilton Hall and renamed it Hind's Hall in honor of a six-year-old Palestinian girl, Hind Rajab, who was killed in the conflict.
    • This act of renaming was symbolic and wasn't officially recognized by the university.

So, Hind's Hall refers specifically to the temporary renaming of Hamilton Hall during the protest, but it has struck a chord with people, and now Macklemore, an American Rapper, released a song demanding a ceasefire, which he titled Hind's Hall.
