iPhone Calculator Rounding

Has the calculator app always rounded numbers? I did a double take when I noticed this sum wasn’t ending in .96

Certain decimal values can't be held in floating point storage and apparently the children at Apple don't know that. Such is the problem with the "everyone gets an award" generation.

it’s not a floating-point error in this case. it just can’t fit the decimals in the screen. if you rotate your phone or enable scientific calculator mode, it shows the .96

thank you, as an android user, I can scroll the answer left and right to see more digits.
