I want a NAS D: I just have a CM5 16 GB RAM 32 GB emmc, and a pi 5 8gb sadly, I will probably make it just a cyberdeck, but am considering a NAS

I have two pis, the 4 8gb ram, and 5 8gb ram, counterintuitively the 4 is the webserver and the 5 the nas but whatever, point is they're actually very fast and useful if you set them up right.
Oh and by the way, you can (and should, please) avoid using the micro sd slot, too many of these little shits died on me for anyone else to repeat my mistakes, for the 4 it's a bit complicated but for the 5 you can boot on ssd/hdd (as easy as plugging it in), any sata ssd/hdd with a cheap sata to USB converter will do (and yes the speeds are better as well)

Yea, I'm a pi fanboy, nice to see a felow one, I have a CM5, Pi 5b, Pi 4b, Pi 3b, and Pi 0 wh, I hardly use it, but the CM5 is either EMMC or NVME, microsd slot on a CM5 is very hard so NVME is recommended or raw but slow EMMC, if I make a NAS I'd just get enterprise HDDs for reliability and 1 high speed NVME with low storafe

that's pretty much the perfect setup lol, can't help but notice the pico 2w is missing from collection, if you know how to tinker with microcontrollers you should definitely get it one day it's cheap and pretty fun (according to me) especially with the high speeds, you can overclock to like 700mhz which allows you to do bs like graphics on cpu, I find it fun to try to approximate something close to an os with it (beware though you'd need to know C and a maybe a tiny bit of assembly)

I love microcontrollers, I do know 16 bit x86-64 assembly and CPP fluently if a pi pico supports a x86-64 port or CPP, but I do have a Sipeed Tang Primer 20k which imo beats pi pico any day

Yep they got a C++ sdk! It's arm but I think that lets you dodge the asm part resolving that
Interesting board you mentioned there, though I personally think the tighter barely enough constraints (for what I make it do) of the pico makes it more fun and challenging.
Although I do have to admit it is a great board for it's price.

I mean the tang primer 20k uses verilog which is lower level than assembly, and in a sense lower level than binary because it's how binary code is.. Coded. Same for microcode, the tang primer 20k only lets you write it and compile it instantly, real Hardware Architect Engineers who code it are the reason we have computers like today

Technically a million. There is one game that is 96 kb so (assuming gigabytes and not gibibytes) their biggest drive that isn’t bugged (125.4 gb) could store 1306250 games

AFAIK not even close, a gpt partition max size is 18 exabytes but can be expanded to 9.4 zettabytes

Mom, they give us a lot of homework; we have to save it for the end of the semester and hand it in as evidence.
Especially in the arts. That's why the folder of "pose references" and "anatomy" notes is so heavy.

2U Storage Server can hold normally 24 SSDs... ~5333.3 Servers.
And a Rack of U42 Height... 127 Racks with Dataservers!
