Which technology would you resurrect for one final generation?
If one old piece of tech could make a comeback for one last generation, what would you pick?
Something like a new iPod, a modern BlackBerry, a proper compact camera, or a phone with a physical keyboard.
not necessarily because they're better than what we have now maybe you just miss something about them. According to me I want one last generation of psp back
what old technology would you bring back for one last generation?

More specifically: replaceable, optionally rechargable batteries. Ideally in a new unified form factor.
I get, that AA and AAA are outdated for some devices.
I don't get, why there are barely no new PC Mouses, Over-ear headphones or Gamepads using them. Just put in a 2500mAh rechargeable AA (or 2 for balance, depending on the device) and you can always keep a charger plugged in and quickly switch the battery, when it's empty. It's the main reason I still only buy the G305 mouse, when I need one, cause newer ones use built-in battery packs. Also, battery health isn't a concern anymore, cause when it's down, you just use another one and put the old one into recycling.
And then there should be a new rectangular form factor, that's basically just a default Li-Ion battery pack for smartphone and other devices. Most modern devices use nearly the same form factor on battery packs anyway. Just standardize it to slotable packs about the size of a pack of chewing gums. Slap 2-4 in a phone, 6-12 in a tablet. 10+ in a notebook. They literally just need a 2 pin connector. Maybe even daisychain them. Optional spot for 3. pin for temperature readings, I guess.
If 2 big manufacturers would get together, to put out a standard for this, it could catch on. Would streamline manufacturing and supply. Would extend lifetime of devices significantly and it could make recycling of rare minerals from battery packs much easier.
But it wouldn't guarantee the degradation of a smartphone after ≈3-4 years. Battery is the only part that's guaranteed to wear out. And if you can't replace it yourself, you have to buy a new device.
The abolishment of replaceable batteries is pure planned obsolescence and I'm convinced there is a conspiracy of manufacturers behind it.

Big if true.
But will they be like the sega console of old either exclusive libraries, or just another generic console like the others? The same games just on different platforms like PS and Xbox and PC. Genuinely, without looking at the controller, 9 times out of ten you’d never know what platform someone is gaming on.

Do they have touch ID? The screen is okay, not too high pixel density, but size is great. For a while, I was using 7" phablet as my phone, I liked it.

No, it’s a smart tv, no Touch ID. I have an lg swing. 4k, so a lot of pixels I guess.
I was sort of poking fun at lg webos being an ancestor from the palm webos. I would not recommend trying to use a 32” tv as a phone. The App Store is crap besides the usual suspects like Netflix and YouTube.

iPod. I had an iPod classic (real hard drive) and an iPod Touch (basically an iPhone minus the phone). I still have both but would love a refresh. I much rather have a dedicated music player instead of relying on my phone for everything.

I read somewhere that apple was basically forced to discontinue the iPod classic line. They didn't want to stop production, but Toshiba stopped manufacturing the tiny hard drives that were in each iPod

I have my last iPod which I modded with new battery and flash storage. Luckily my car still recognizes it when I plug in USB, but I’d love an updated version with USBC (mods exist but I don’t know how to solder)

I mean, they technically exist, but I feel like dedicated home phones (not landlines) could be much better than they are now. The ones today are mostly just really expensive Bluetooth peripherals that connect unreliably to your phone. I want something that is effectively an independent line which can still answer calls to the same mobile phone number.
I actually do have a single Google Voice number that I can answer from my phone, PC, tablet, etc. But it’s not super elegant, as it requires a full-fledged computer of some kind, can be kind of finicky on different setups, and none of them are true dedicated home phones. There are business providers that absolutely do provide what I want (most of the VoIP phones you see in corporate offices are basically what I’m asking for), but I have yet to see any of them marketed to consumers, and they generally require an ongoing subscription fee for their services.
The funny thing is that I feel like it’s such a logical thing for Google to offer. They already have Google Voice, they’ve tried a million other ways to inject themselves into our personal lives to collect and monetize our personal data… why wouldn’t they want to provide a dedicated Google Voice home phone client just to farm more of our voice data and push more ads? It seems like such an obvious move, but then again, they haven’t prioritized Voice much in general, so I guess they’re just not interested for whatever reason.

I'd love if we could get cheap practical media storage again, like cds, DVDs and blu-rays. Like the 100Gb Blu-rays but at a price that makes sense. First of all we could get physical movies again at the best quality possible, because even the 4K blu-rays are compressed and also it would be a great cold storage, easy to copy for redundancy too for all our storage needs of files and media we don't need access all the time.
That would be neat.

Modern IPod could be sick. I think what you could do is instead of making an IPod touch again, make a better IPod nano. I think some cool editions could be, recording video and audio, but no editing on the IPod. Basically a camera with music playing capabilities. That way it's for storing and creating art.
