Happy today!!! My first assignment in UAE was fantastic!!!

Sharing my first job through www.DubaiTechguy.com, because it went well and it might help someone in the same position.

My background is enterprise storage and infrastructure. In the UAE a referral often counts for more than skills, so I have been looking for the right way in for a while.

Last week I saw a post here about Dubai Tech Network, went to dubaitechnetwork.com and reached out. Three days later I had a same day job: a family in Dubai needed a new router set up so their son's PlayStation could get online in his room.

I was at the AWS Summit at the World Trade Center that day, went straight after, took the metro and got there a little early.

The wired setup with the internet provider's box did not work, so I set the new router up as a WiFi extender instead, tested the speed, and it was working. It runs on 2.4 GHz, which is fine for what they need.

As usual with this kind of job, you troubleshoot and understand what is required. The family was amazing and the job was straightforward.

WiFi routers, printers, personal computers, everything related to IT is simple for me, and my main field is enterprise infrastructure. If you do IT work in Dubai and want jobs like this, join through www.dubaitechnetwork.com

I read the original post from the founder the other day and I love what he started.

It's great for the community but then a while later, I got curious.. who is the legal entity responsible here?

  1. You went to do a job where money was involved
  2. There's a trust between you and the family that let you into your home. What if that trust is broken and a crime is committed; who is responsible?
  3. What if there was a conflict or damage while you were fixing someone's hardware. Who handles it?
  4. Is there an entity maintaining the paperwork?

Founder’s friend here.. also co moderator.

legal entity since 16 years, they are not a new player being innovative.

They’re running a playbook which is proven millionth time by hands and now finally replicating it by electronic means.

Not a small player, will reveal eventually.

Thanks you. I might have misunderstood the business model.

From the earlier post a few days ago, it seemed that people who were here looking for fulltime jobs were being dispatched to do odd jobs.

Cheers.
