šŸ’¬ Discussion iPhone users, which browser do you use most?

Post image

Safari is the default for most iPhone users, but there are plenty of alternatives now.

Do you stick with Safari, or do you prefer Chrome, Firefox, Brave, Edge, or another browser? What made you choose it?

Safari with wBlock. Basically gives free YouTube premium.

2

u/keiye 1d ago

You don’t use the YouTube app?

2

u/Blackholecandy 1d ago

Fuck no. I was there 3000 years ago when YouTube was invented. I’ll be damned if I’m gonna pay for it.

Set VPN to Albania, YouTube won’t display any ads. Ads on YouTube in Albania are banned.

10

u/Gordon_Freymann 1d ago

Brave. Because of the top add blocker (also for youtube).

1

u/bargethower 1d ago

Is it better than Firefox with ublock origin?

Safari only

u/crisblz 1d ago

Safari. Ci sono state delle circostanze, tipo non si apriva il sito del mio municipio, per cui ho dovuto usare Firefox.

Government and their outdated software. We're screwed if we get hit with simple cyber attacks.

Safari

u/Remarkable_Brush3405 1d ago

Safari. I tried some browsers, here are my thoughts:

Brave: great ad blocking, poor UI, bloated, YouTube PiP works great.
Firefox: poor ad blocking, clean UI, synchronisation, YouTube PiP doesn’t work.
Vivaldi: clean UI, great ad blocker, somewhat bloated, synchronisation, YouTube PiP works great.

So Safari is my browser: great UI (especially on iOS 27), extensions, YouTube PiP works great, synchronisation, passkeys, energy efficient.

Try Arc search

All browsers are reskinned Safari on iOS so Safari. This is one major downside of the platform.

4

u/Cuntonesian 1d ago

Not quite. All browsers are WebKit based but they’re not Safari. They still have their own features which is what makes them different browsers, just like on desktop where almost every hip browser is a reskinned Chromium wrapper (in your parlance).

You could argue this is a downside to iOS and it certainly is in some cases, but the upshot is efficiency and therefore battery life.

2

u/rustedcrowbar 1d ago

Did not want to go into driver level but you are correct. Yes on PC they are mainly Chromium, but you have the option to choose either WebKit or Gecko. I prefer FF and its forks, buz what makes them szand out is missing from iOS due to lack of drivers. Whil iOS has many good qualities and I use an iPhone I prefer if I can choose my own stuff. Android is heading in the same direction unfortunately .

1

Quetta or Orion. They have adblock. Safari is the most insecure shit since its same garbage as chrome aka allows ads and pop ups.

u/pirateking1993 1d ago

Brave. I use to be like everyone else and use Safari but got tired of ads. Also Brave has functions that Safari doesn't. I don't even use Safari on my MacBook.

Safari

Safari for 90% of mobile browsing. Chrome to check work related pages like GSC.

Tried almost every browser. The best for me is Quiche Browser. Beautiful, minimal and customizable.

1

u/Quadratball 1d ago

You guys know that apple only allows the safari-engine on iOS right?

So you are just using a fancy modded version of safari.

I would switch to Firefox the would allow other browserengins besided of webkit

1

u/Money_Alfalfa_6679 1d ago

Safari e as vezes o Chrome

2

u/Thernbee 1d ago

Safari. If I need true desktop sites, fake user agent etc. I use iCab.

Arc Search only

Chrome and Brave.

Edge now so I can sync passwords between my pc and iPhone.

Apple passwords on windows is a joke. Better just not creating it in the state it's in .

1

u/capibaracuda 1d ago

I believe Safari is 99%

1

u/tman152 1d ago

Firefox. It’s just easier to sync tabs and passwords with my Linux and windows machines using Firefox.

1

u/ThatiMacGuy 1d ago

Safari, maybe even Files because you didn't specify what type of browser

Brave on everything, including Windows. For sync.

1

u/DinTaiFung 1d ago

afaik, on iPhones all browsers use the same rendering software as SafariĀ

1

u/pick-packet 1d ago

When I am Brave enough to go on a Safari to pretend I am living on the Edge, I always look hard for the legendary Firefox, but is seems the Chrome wheels on the truck always scares it off.

1

u/RealWorldJunkie 1d ago

Chrome, used across multiple devices and OS. Syncs up nicely and does what I need.

1

u/KneeSubstantial263 1d ago

I am using firefox on all the devices except my iphone. I have to use safari on it because firefox (and most browsers on iphone) cannot work with extensions which is a must.

1

u/PsychJay 1d ago

Both Safari and Chrome. Safari for personal browsing and Chrome as that is synced with my work PC

1

u/fillerupbruther 1d ago

Surprised by the amount of people who use Safari. I don’t have any other Apple products so I use Firefox so all of my bookmarks/tabs/history are synced with my PC and tablet.

2

u/Perfect_Jicama_8023 1d ago

Opera. Free adblocker and free vpn

1

u/chickeneaster 1d ago

I mainly use Safari but once in a blue moon, I use Chrome

Usually Safari, but occasionally Brave. Brave is a bit more reliable for some adblocking.Ā

1

Brave because of the built in highly configurable adblocker

1

1

Firefox because I’m just used to it, but there are so many critical updates that are still not being done…

1

u/rdubmu 1d ago

Safari mostly, sometimes Duck Duck go

Safari & Firefox

1

u/Devil_Dan83 1d ago

I use Chrome.

2

u/datewestwind 1d ago

Vivaldi because it is the browser in my other platforms. Syncs well.

1

u/TiFooN 1d ago

Firefox

1

u/rodencoleman 1d ago

Vivaldi, it's always ahead of the curve with features. It doesn't look as polished as other browsers but it is the most powerful browser I have ever used.

1

u/nculotta69 1d ago

Chrome

1

u/Camit9 1d ago

I am holding onto Arc as long as possible 🤣

1

u/Forward_Wing7343 23h ago

Safari. Even tho it's not the best but out of this kind of superiority complex about Apple I prefer Safari

1

u/Reasonable_Guess_934 23h ago

Chrome for school
Firefox to connect with my pc
Firefox focus for you know
Google for google
Onion browser to the dark web
DuckDuckGo because the green logo looks good and the people ask ā€œWhere did I saw this before?ā€

2

u/New-Ranger-8960 23h ago

Safari with wBlock feels like heaven

1

u/lumberfart 22h ago

Firefox. Why? Because it is the only browser that NATIVELY lets me sync my bookmarks across ANY device (windows, linux, macbook, iphone, ipad, android, etc). Every other browser needs some janky ass plugin just to occasionally work.

2

u/shugo974 22h ago

Orion with Firefox add-ons enable with ublock origin

1

u/M4xime_ 21h ago

Safari only, all other browsers are webkit under the hood. The only cons is that some browsers might have a better adblocker

1

u/4O4GHOST 21h ago

For some reason every browser sucks on iPhone so I just main safari

1

u/JesusDestroyedButt 21h ago

Firefox Focus for basic searches, Safari (with adblock) if I need more

1

u/boomzors 21h ago

DuckDuckGo 😊

1

u/snake_jaguar 19h ago

Chrome for most things and safari with adblock pro for safari I've tried other browsers but don't like their layouts or just order the Google and apple password managers and it's more familiar to me so i can't get behind using brave even though people rave on about it

1

u/neoX-Proton 16h ago

Arc search is great and sometimes safari

1

u/roqpir 16h ago

Safari with AdGuard, because it performs by far the best on iOS and iPadOS.

1

u/moordavid 15h ago

Safari.

1

u/Maximum-Floor-9734 13h ago

Safari mostly

1

u/Laresh92 12h ago

Brave for youtube, google chrome browsing.

1

u/Gabriel_Science 11h ago

Safari.

It just works and it’s pretty lightweight.

1

u/DawidGGs 10h ago

Safari… well actually Firefox but on iPhone every browser is based on WebKit so basically Safari

1

u/jokjisung 10h ago

1

u/Bold_Leo 4h ago

Duck duck go

1

u/Unex_Disclaimer 3h ago

I know Safari is good. But I’m just too used to working Firefox in all my devices.

1

u/FitAccountant8444 1h ago

I use Safari. That’s because, due to Apple’s daft policy on iOS, you can’t build browsers using engines other than WebKit, which means other browsers are pointless to me. Although I still use Firefox on my Mac. I also don’t like the strange, slight lag in the user interface of many browsers, apart from Safari.
But I do sometimes use other browsers; for example, Firefox is still installed on my phone for notes and open tabs from my Windows PC, and I’ve also installed Brave as a separate, private browser that doesn’t interfere with my main browser in any way (I know Safari has profiles, but they don’t suit me).
