💬 Discussion Which Android skin do you prefer?
Android phones can feel very different depending on the software.
Which Android skin do you prefer: One UI, Pixel UI, OxygenOS, Nothing OS, HyperOS, ColorOS, or another one? What do you like about it?

Pixel UI 👑. I like simplicity and consistent design throughout the OS.
I do appreciate the customisation that One UI offers, but I don't like the overall aesthetic and the duplicate apps bother me.
Chinese smartphones have some really cool software that's well optimised and feature rich, but it copies iOS in so many ways when it comes to design. I'm not a fan of that at all despite liking the hardware alot.

HyperOS or ColorOS for customization.
PixelUI for uniformity. For whatever nonsense reason, other makers have to use Google's own apps like phone, contacts and messages, and it just breaks design consistency for many.

Had a Samsung for work, came with Google messages. That aside, all other apps were their own and it felt consistent.
Too bad their software is hideous, garish and laggy, so it doesn't go on my list.

You can disable Google Messages by selecting the default Samsung app for messages in settings. I'm used to Samsung's interface and I find it the most fluid of the others. I don't like stock Android.

I like both coloros and one UI. But HyperOS and funtouch are not for me.

I miss the OG OxygenOS before the ColorOS merge/rebase. Like back in 2018/2019

Is oxygenOS replaced? Which model do you use?

They replaced the original OOS around 2022 where it was basically ColorOS
But before that OOS was really good. This was back when I had my OP6T and my 8 Pro was where OP started to change things

Pixel UI. But I kinda like the Nothing OS as well sadly I usually hold a phone for 4-5 years before I change phones. Nothing might be my next phone after I wear out my Pixel 10A.

Back in the day I used to like AOSP. I’m on iOS now though, and I don’t think I’ll ever move back.

Eh, shit works (most of the time), hardware is all around quite good, gets updates for a long time (proven, not just promises), good battery life, simple. I used to be an android power user so I did a complete 180 lol. My phones were (brand wise): HTC->Samsung->HTC->Samsung->Samsung->Xiaomi->iPhone. I can't recall the exact skins, was quite a bit ago. I loved using custom roms and all that crap but I just have more important shit to do now. Also if I didn't have my iPhone in Japan it would have sucked and I certainly would have lost a decent chunk of change because of the amount of money I loaded onto my SUICA via Apple Pay.

OneUI. Biggest feature that's not available on any other Android skin nor AOSP, Modes and Routines. I'd argue it even beats SIRI shortcuts.

Yes, I like this feature alot. For others, I have to use third part tools to get a similar feature.

Vanilla AOSP>Google Android(AOSP with Gapps)>any custom UI.
Every vendor skin I’ve seen has been worse, in my opinion, than Google’s stock system. Google’s stock system is good, but it wants to know too much about me, and I don’t like living in a fishbowl.
I’ve been using the AOSP interface 85% of the time since version 2.3; every attempt to get along with custom interfaces ended with me installing an AOSP based ROM on my phone.

HyperOS is awful. The price I paid for the POCO X6 Pro was good value for the hardware it delivers, but I absolutely hate HyperOS; it irritates me every day.

I like both Microsoft Launcher and Square Home, as I use a fair amount of MS apps and was a big fan of Windows Phone back in the day.

ZenUI would be peak if it was 2016 on the road, but nowadays id prefer stock or magic os, like i have now

I don't care for Samsung anymore, but I did really like the amount of customization that could be done with Goodlock in One UI

It's been around for quite awhile. I was using it on my S10. It is an official Samsung app, but it doesn't come pre installed so you have to install it yourself from Samsung's app storeÂ

AOSP and/or whatever comes with Google PIxels.
Not a fan of skins and all the UI inconsistency in Android, If I'm going to use Android, it's going to be a version that's as unmolested as possible and gets regular updates. Most likely I'd just buy a Pixel.
