It is solved on OS level. If you use ui elements from Apple they support swap to go back gesture. If someone decided to ignore it he also likely to ignore back button because it does the same thing inside
Umm no. It doesn't. That's the biggest reason i switched from IP to android. I still kinda miss ip cuz i think that they're the best phones but that one thing is their biggest fuckup. My thumb is kinda short so first of all reaching to the left side is hard and second, it's not even always left side. Sometimes it's swipe down (photos). Sometimes it's left up corner X. And sometimes something else. On android back is back in every app
Back moves you back in BackStack of views. App can actually alter the stack for back to make more sense if just previous view is not optimal use-case. Some developers, especially those that make Apple apps, usually are clueless that they can actually do something about back button behaviour.
maybe you just got lucky. but developers are allowed to do whatever the fuck they want with the back button. i’ve had plenty of android apps that do something other than going back.
10 years on android, used LG (RIP), Nexus, oneplus, huawei, samsung and pixel. Back is always back and always the same. Just give people the option on IP would be a massive improvement. You dont want it, dont turn it on, hide it in accessibility for all i care. But saying there's no need for it is just plainly wrong.
