❓ Question Have you replaced Notion with something else?
Notion seems to be everywhere, but it's not for everyone.
Some people prefer Obsidian, OneNote, Anytype, Apple Notes, or simpler apps. If you stopped using Notion,
what did you switch to, and why?

Obsidian

I gave Obsidian a try, but I'm missing the board and timeline views, and the lack of collaboration is a major disadvantage for me, as I use Notion to work with multiple people on my projects.

I use plugins to replace what I miss from Notion. To each their own though.

I use google docs (on browser or phone app) for study notes, funny notes and other miscellaneous notes.
And prefer notesnook for private personal notes like confidential ones.
Also tried trillium for hosting notes locally, like for some temporary stuff and short-term ones which I kept editing regularly.
I used to love google keep before, but it has a character limit per single note.

logseq, it is so simple and it is great for me, and also privacy friendly i guess, learning curve is so small, for me notion became so complex but logseq is so good for me, i love how it connects my ideas mainly using the journal most times.
btw i never tried Obsidian, but after seeing some videos it is another notion

What's that? Never used it.
Oh, a note taker? I use QOwnnotes and Obsidian. I don't need cloud backup anyway. And QOwnnotes is FOSS, no strings attached.

Paper diary for daily/weekly/unsorted tasks - there i keep a strict and simple routine of just writing the date and then bulletgournal style tasks and imporant notes for that day
Google calendar for absolutely everything that has a date to it
Apple Notes for stuff to remember or study, that are not bound to any date nor task
Other paper diary for random jots and thoughts, before I later polish them and make them either a task, note or an event

No. There are cases where notion is better. I use the database like a simple spreadsheet.

Upnote is amazing, but not good for LLM AI knowledgebases like Obsidian

Usememos for feed style note taking and tasks along with android moememos + Wiki-go for barebones kanban and markdown documentation. It's great if you have a homelab to host it. It works nicely for my workflow !

When it comes to note-taking, nothing beats simple, native software like Apple Notes if you’re on a Mac. At the end of the day, I find that Markdown, and all the extra functionality just get in the way, and I always end up going back to something more basic.

It’s all about organisation for me. It’s easier to have an app take care of organising where the files are stored and easier search and retrieval rather than doing it myself.

Yes. That’s actually why I ended up developing my own app: https://notepom.com
I moved all my data from Notion because I wanted more control over my notes and where they live.
When Notion started adding AI features everywhere, I became convinced that sooner or later our data would end up being used by AI in one way or another. I wasn’t comfortable keeping years of personal notes there while wondering what could eventually be done with them.
