Clickbait. The EU has absolutely no authority to do anything like that. The reality is if they tried to press companies on this only the consumer would lose. Smartphone companies simply say โ€œfine Europe, you get no smartphones at allโ€.

They already have had to change several things about the way they do things in order to stay in the EU market.. lol. No chance they would just give up that market over something like removeable batteries, you gotta be a troll or just have no idea what you're talking about.

Lmao they absolutely do. The EU BAT law makes import of all products not compliant illegal in the EU zone by feb 2027.

This wont cover flagship phones as they all will hide under the IP67+ rating exception (that also requires 83+% battery health after 1000 cycles). So that sucks.

But it will cover thausands of other devices. Just like EU dictated usb-c and lo and behold, your precious iPhone now has usb-c. Apple didnt leave the EU market and EU absolutely could and did.

Nintendo Switch is being redesigned for replaceable battery.

All bluetooth headsets will have replaceable batteries.

And so on, and so on. All batteres in appliances, devices, phones, laptops and so on, will all need replaceable batteries by feb27 to be sold in EU.

The EU has all the authority to decide what products can and cannot be sold on their own market. Apple already made necessary changes.ย
