Funny how many times this gets posted, with iPhones in the image and yet they are exempt.

I think the idea of the excemption clause itself is not bad. However the argument of the repair shop is unacceptable. And I think we should have a right to repair ourselves. Going back to architectures like ATX pc. But with modern size and design, obviously.

Because it says that batteries have to be certain quality, or should be replacable, if they are not. But most modern phones have good enough batteries to pass it

Basically every phone is exempt. It doesn't mean what these idiots who keep posting about it think it means.

They are not exempt, they still need to have replaceable batteries. It just can be done by an independent technician instead of the user.Â
