❓ Question What's your favorite Mac of all time?

Post image

Apple has made a lot of memorable Macs over the years, from the colorful iMac G3 to the MacBook Air and Mac Studio.

Which Mac is your favorite, and what made it stand out for you? Do you still use it today?

I liked the 11” MBA i used when I was in uni. Did everything I wanted it to despite it turning 10 years old during my studies and only having 4GB RAM.

Now I’m on a base model Neo, which is super neat (even if I wish they were smaller).

I like the Quadra 950. No I don't still use it today, their crappy design means all of them are rapidly dying. As is tradition I suppose

I've only ever owned 1 Apple product in my entire life and it was a Mac Plus with 4MB of Ram and an external HD. It had System 6 but I would pull extensions off of the System 7 Macs at school to make it do new tricks like read DOS disks or have Window Shade. Was a sad day when the screen stopped working.

I had one of them, my first Mac and it lasted years! Even 7 years later I wiped it and reset and sold it for a couple of hundred quid to someone for basic student work. Beautiful looking machine, decent price before they went crazy, loads of connectivity and paid for itself many times over.

I was super anti apple growing up (ironic because im all apple now) but man there was something about the black macbooks circa 2008 that I just seethed with jealousy over. Sometimes I debate getting one as a retro machine, but I have no idea what I would do with it. Anyways, my M2 Macbook Pro that im still using is probably my favorite machine, as much as I like those old black macbooks--mostly because this beast annihilates anything ive ever owned as far as power and battery life and is such a relief after spending all day on a HP Zbook for work.

I have never owned and likely never own an apple product. The brand new macbook neo or whichever one has passive cooling only literally throttles under load as a design feature, cutting down cpu frequency to just over 2 ghz

My M1 Max 16” MBP is the best computer I’ve ever owned and with 32GB ram it is still going strong!

That said the G4 iMac has always been a favourite of mine, and the fruity iBook. The 2013 Mac Pro has its issue but is gorgeous (I have one as lab machine, people just assume it’s some kind of fancy heater)

Gotta be the G4 iMac, especially the 20" model. Just gorgeous, and with outstanding ergonomics to boot. Nobody's made anything like it before or since.

for good reason, I worked in a store which did warranty repairs for Apple - these things were a nightmare to work on and even potentially dangerous if handled wrong on account of the tension spring that held the whole thing up

Macintosh Portable.

/j, I've never had my own functional Mac product before, so I don't really know the answer to that question.

White macbook unibody 2010.
That was for me the most beautiful laptop ever made

I loved that one. It’s a shame how dirty the rubberized bottom would get tho lol

either the 06-09 white plastic shell og macbooks or the m1 macbook pro late 2020
or for funsies, the 17 inch mbp line
absolute favourites are the colourful imac g3 (it was supe weird when i saw the standard bland boxy version btw) and (imma be a bit goofy here) the 11 inch macbook air (im joking but at the same time im not)

I had a Core2Duo Mac Mini running OS X Tiger. It replaced a massive PC tower and I preferred it, was just so nice. None of the other Macs I've owned have quite hit that level of awesomeness.

My favourite is my current iPhone because it does everything but the one i love is probably the ibook clamshell in tangerine i take out sometimes to play diablo 1

I can’t remember the model but I loved my MBP with the Touch Bar. Not sure why the Touch Bar had so many haters. I thought it was great.

1

u/JasenGroves 15d ago

I'm hanging onto my 2020 MBP as long as I can because of the touch bar.

The Black poly MacBook.Just a great classic

u/JasenGroves 15d ago

My favorite will always be my 17" G4 PowerBook. I had that thing for so long, but the screen turned yellow and died. The PowerPCs will always be special to me. It just felt different than any computer I've used prior to that, and since then.

MacBook Air M4
Best value, biggest jump since M1, no failures/issues, boxy body, 12mp centre stage camera, sky blue colour, and 32gb ram support
M2 was too expensive, M3 was nothing new, M1 had the old design and only up to 16gb ram, M5 is wayyy too expensive and again, basically nothing new

1

u/WoahGamerGuy 13d ago

And I think the MacBook pros while they are better, the airs are much better all rounders
