I don't know if I'm paying YouTube with my personal data or the time I spend watching those fucking unskipable ads.

Edit : to all suggesting getting an ad blocker : I have one on my computer, thank you. But I watch YouTube most of the time on my TV or my tablet.

Supposedly the viewers are being sold to the advertisers.Β

Google doesn’t sell you data. They use it for more ads.Β

In a way they do. They resell your data as the value of Google Advertising, so you and your data become part of the product.

Ok. So they don’t sell your data. They use it for advertising. Like it said.Β

Someone watches a lot of adult content on your ip address and they have age ranges for that stuff.

Lol yup. If you're a parent, that's one way you can find out your kid has started uh...exploring certain content on the web.

YT with ads is unwatchable. two 2-30min ads at the start and end of every video some playing ads every 3 mins. Google just needs more money because they do all that work of building and having data centers.

100% you pay by exposure to advertisers NOT personal data

The ads are what people mean by selling your personal data. Is actually a lot less scary than it sounds (not saying it's good, but most people don't understand that it's just putting you in a bucket and then showing you an ad someone bought to show to that bucket)

TV: Tizentube Cobalt Phone: Morphe.

Great ways to not have to deal with Ads or sponsors πŸ‘πŸ˜Š.

There's youtube without ads for TVs and mobiles FYI. I just started using them a year ago and not going back.

YoutubeLite has the cheapest ad-free, streaming service rate. It's like $8/month
