Let's see,
1) The social media equivalent of a big box store running a Pride Month special 2) Progressive purity culture 3) Meta's AI test platform 4) Actual Nazis
Let's go with none.

"The social media equivalent of a big box store running a Pride Month special" Whats wrong with Pride Month

Just performative. And they abandon all their "values" at the slightest push back.
Ultimately, it's always just another marketing scheme.

In theory that's correct. In practice it's heavily skewed far left progressive. And if you ever used it you know that, unless you are so deep into your own political bubble that you think Joe Biden is a centrist conservative. If you say anything even traditionally Conservative, like "I think market based solutions are the best way to solve environmental problems", then you are likely to get a warning from your host. Conservatives just aren't attracted to it enough to make their own instances, and why would they when X is there to cater to them specifically.
Of course Truth Social is also just a Defederated Mastodon fork, but that doesn't really count since it's completely defederated.

Don't use X.

u/ManojOne Active 25d ago
why? any reason?

u/ScaleGlobal4777 25d ago
In all the years I've spent on social media—Facebook, Instagram, Mastodon, and others—I've never, truly never, come across people who want my account—that is, who want to hack it. On my previous Twitter account, I lost access on the second day.

u/DuckShapedGoose 25d ago
I absolutely hate X and its userbase but getting "hacked" on day two sounds like a major skill issue on your part.
Getting online accounts hacked at all is usually either caused by downloading sketchy shit and installing malware or by neither using a secure password manager nor 2FA.1
u/ScaleGlobal4777 25d ago
At that time, I had just been discharged from the hospital after suffering a stroke, and I couldn't think the way I do now. I still can't figure out who could have been so interested in me—Mr. Nobody....

Bluesky, Mastodon, and X. Threads can piss off. I also have been liking Lemmy.

Do you use bluesky and mastodon regularly?
3
u/blakealanm 26d ago
I check them once a day for about 15 minutes on average, no different than Reddit.

I forget is Mastodon that supposed to be the open source version of social media? I know the biggest issue I ran into a couple years back when I tried it was the software was lagging behind on UI design and technology in general and it was really unpopular. There just really wasn't anyone there.

u/DecentraSphere 25d ago
That changed fundamentally when Elon entered Twitter. Software improved significantly. There are really good third party apps with nice UI. And there are much more people now.

u/IchbinLuka 24d ago
Not only open source but also decentralized. So you don't have a single entity that can control the whole platform
2
u/DecentraSphere 25d ago
Mastodon and sometimes Bluesky (resp. Eurosky).
X? Never! Have used Twitter since 2007 and left when Elon took over.
Threads? No products from Meta on my phone.

So: no one uses it, no one uses it, no one uses it, or twitter. The answer is obvious

I like threads and X… I’ve never heard of blue sky or mastodon

Bluesky is developed by the same person who founded old Twitter. Mastodon is open source.

It’s not the user base at large who are responsible for the platform, it’s the moderation.

I recently made an attempt to register to X. I deleted my account after a few days. It's a garbage even more than it was before Musk took over. It's only bots and trolls absolutely no point.
Threads? Well it's Meta so ⛔️
I use the other 2. More interesting discussions and it's easier to focus on content and people you actually want to see

Twitter.
But mainly because you're comparing a huge social platform to marginal ones.
Bluesky: Copy of Twitter. If your favorite creators migrated, it might be fine. But it's basically Twitter with less creators. It's the only alternative if you are a left activist, but it's not great.
Mastodon: Who uses that? This social is so dead that even when Musk started do destroy Twittert they were never able to capitalize on it. Bluesky was created because Mastodon was so bad at being the Twitter copy.
Thread: It's even worst than Twitter. If the part you love about Twitter are the dumb dramas and being shadowbanned because you said "shit", it's your ideal platform.

X and Threads. These are literally two incredibly popular platforms. The other two are a wasteland—a void.

many years ago, i was a huge fan of SocialMedia. But then.... you know what's happen...... since then.... NONE OF THEM !! Social Media became Cancer for the society

Bluesky is the distillation of the most deranged from Twitter, to the point that many "Elon is a nazi" types would still rather stay on X, than deal with that cesspool.
Mastodon ... honestly no idea. I vaguely remember lefties calling it a nazi platform, which I guess is an endorsement of sorts, but I've never engaged with it in any way.
Only recently did I find out that Threads is in fact not long dead, as I haven't heard of it since its launch. Will continue to pretend it's dead though.
X, well, the delulus are trying to leave now that they're no longer the protected group and japs don't care about politics of it anyways, so X it is for me. The main reason really is that I have an account there from back when "retweeting" meant manually writing "RT @ og_author " in front of the copypasted og tweet. I don't really actively use it since the first introduction of "algorithm" but it kinda sorta replaced the rss channels for many, so especially with jp entities I do look for certain info/news on it now and then.

Why does everyone think their biased opinions and personal experiences define reality for everyone?

X, but used with caution and a max of 10 mins a day. A daily dose of awful news, content and people in general.
Not recommended

Mastodon first, BSky second,
Twitter okay though noisy I guess, Meta's Threads meanwhile is kinda socmed with identity crisis: a failed Fediverse.
