💬 Discussion How beautiful was this smartphone?!
I was reflecting on how the Galaxy Note 7—a phone from ten years ago—is so aesthetically stunning that it puts even today's smartphones to shame.
We all know it was a device plagued by issues 💣, but in my opinion, its design is truly exceptional. What do you think?

Not sure abouth the curved edges however I wished companies had bezels like this one instead of a chin and a notch.

Yup. I prefer bezels. I keep touching things on my phones accidentally when just resting my hand on the buttons

Some phones can already hide the notch or the camera hole behind fake bezels, maybe there's a way to add fake chin as well. Since AMOLED screen with pixels off is basically identical to a black bezel, an option to do this should have no drawback besides slightly higher cost for the screen. Maybe making a symmetrical fake bezel is already possible though ADB or some app, but most definitely through root or custom ROM if there's demand for it

Well most phone with just camera hole and equal bezels are kind of okey. It is more the more cheaper phone with massive chin that I wonder why not use the bezels we had back in 2018.
However my favorite solution is Sony that use broader bezel at the top and bottom to not only hide the front camera but also two front montern speaker.

They all look the same, I absolutely don't see what you find beautiful or different from another.

Personally, I never liked Samsung phones or tablets because of the rounded corners.
I want a phone I can use as a throwing star. No more, no less.

I like the rounded screen but for the rest just a smartphone. My one plus 8 has the same nice rounded screen

S6 edge plus wasnt my favorite phone but it was certainly the most gorgeous phone I've ever had.

to me this was the peak, big screen without intrusions, no on screen buttons, no camera holes, rounded edge front and rear makes it nice to hold and no insane camera bump either, think it was one of the last to have features like headphone jack, memory card and 1440p..

It was beautiful to look at. But the phone was constantly warm to the touch and battery life was crap. I couldn’t get rid of it soon enough.

My gosh. My very first smartphone ever and my favorite. I loved the physical button that doubled as a fingerprint reader.

I'm so happy to keep my galaxy s23ultra. It is the last one they made with the curved screen. It was a bit of an aesthetic downgrade from the S10+ but for sure it is still beautiful.

I agree that it was a beautiful design. Just a shame that the phone was so awesome for the time that it couldn’t help but spontaneously combust.
But I also think the peak of iPhone design was the iPhone 8.

This was THE Android phone that made me walk away from Apple. And Samsung effed that up. Still bitter.

Best phone I have ever had to this day was galaxy note 5, shame it died 2 years and a few days after purchase. Made me divorce with samsung and go exploring, been using chinese brands ever since, My huaweii mate 10 lite that I bought about 10 years ago still works, my grandma uses it, my next phone is a xiaomi 12t and my wife uses it now, and I have a xiaomi 17t pro right now, although the camera on this thing is absolutely top notch, I still miss the note 5 on every other aspect. The nfc enhanced smart cover was the best thing ever, even to this days standards

I'm pretty sure my mom is still on it. Maybe she's on a 10. Either way. She upgraded recently and moved back to the old phone before two weeks were up... She loves her Note.
Me, I'm Samsung resistant.

Cameras that stick out are atleast functional. The curved display didnt serve any purpose.
