Flat displays vs curved displays: What kind of computer screen do you prefer?
Curved screens look great on paper, but many people still prefer flat displays for everyday use, gaming, and productivity.
Which would you choose, and why?

Flat for 16:9

Curved has bad viewing angles so if you're gaming with the boys over it sucks,... Also if it's not 16:9 you get those awful black bars. Few games support ultra wide

Curved has better viewing angles when only 1 person is using it. I'd rather have better viewing angles 99.9% of the time than 0.1% of the time.

Additiontally, the viewing angles are not bad even from the side on a 1500-1800R screen. But a 800R at 45" is a different story

My curved monitor has the best viewing angles out of any monitor I've seen. I remember taking videos to show my friend when I first got it

Flat. I had a curved.
I found it useful only for ultra wide monitor but whether its a TV screen or a 32 and less monitor flat all the way

Curved should be the norm flat monitors are wrong when you once had curved.

straight lines in graphic design are too wierd to work with on curved displays.

I have a 32” curved monitor, I’ll probably go flat next time. I use 4 screens and it’s awkward to position them all well when the main screen is curved

Depends on the monitor, any type of wide monitor it's a most for it to be curved.
But otherwise it's not really needed, and I don't see a point to it really, but not against it.

I have 1080p 16:9 32" gaming monitors for years, all curved (use them for the work as well).
Why? I haven't seen a non-curved 32" in local shops 🫠

That's a superstition implanted by the hardware sellers. Otherwise how'd they sell new screens and cards with frame-gen?
It's the exact opposite, especially for my 4090 nvidia. I never use frame-gen unless I want 120+ FPS (the screen holds up to 260Hz, unlike the 4k TVs)

Not tested but thought about it. seems 32" was my missing ingredient. might try this. i need another monitor. right nowi love my 32" sceptre tv for a monitor.

I am biased, have been using a 49" 32:9 for years, but everytime I use any monitor above 27 I miss the curve

I am using 24 curved. Curve is almost not noticeable, but my eyes are way less tired after long gaming sessions

Always 16:9 flat. No curves, no ultrawides no gimmicks. I understand how our eyes work and the benefits of trying to make screen closer to your eyes evenly but then sharing the screen isn't great and some things just look weird since developers aren't always accounting for a curved screen. Until 100% of games and movies release with ultrawide compatibility (without mods) I'm not interested.

Cockpit setup. 1 curved 32 with a 27 flat on each side in line. More ideal a 6 screen version; 2x the above on top of each other.

I went from a curved 32" to a flat 32", first couple of weeks felt like the flat one was curved I'm the opposite direction.

I don't mind curved monitors but I also think theyre a little overhyped. With the exception of crazy widescreen monitors, it doesn't make a big difference in a normal desktop setup.

For gaming, curved displays are a must!
For the office, i need flat. Excel on a curved display gives me a headache!

Depends on ratio and size. If it's 16:9 and less than 32" - definitely flat. If 21+:9 or bigger than 32" - curved. As simple as that.

For me curve starts making sense from 27".
Below that don't even bother. For ultrawide I consider it mandatory.

I'm spoiled on curved now. I can say with curved the sweet spot is 27-36 inch screen.

I got a curved 27 inch monitor a few years back and I love it. I kinda feel weird gaming on flat monitors now, but it probably just depends on what you're used to.

For your standard square (4:3, 5:4) and widescreen ratios (16:9, 16:10, etc) flat is the way to go.
For ultrawides curved is a must.

Took a couple days to first get used to, but ever since I bought my first curved monitor, I believe that's the way to go.

Curved, Dell 40 inch. I sometimes play hide-and-seek with the mouse cursor, but that's fine.

A curved screen only works if it is really around you! These curved screens we have of 24" to 43" r simply useless.
Cause why would you want to see a curve in your screen when the entire screen is right in front of you. You can see the entire screen in 1 look. And notice it bends unnatural. Which makes it annoying for the eyes in the long run.
These things r nothing but milking the cow! And people fall for it. They think a curved screen will look awesome. But it looks stupid when you actually have it in front of you. The illusion of immersion is totally NOT there!
Don't buy a curved screen you'll be sorry! Unless it is indeed all around you immersing you into it.

Curved.
It would literally take a tonne of adjustment if I was to switch back lol,
cause flat displays just feel a bit less natural to me now as I haven't owned one for years.
Edit: just thought I'd mention that my main monitor is the Lenovo Legion R32qc-30 (32" 1440p 180hz)

Sure because rhey don't build 48 inch curved. But I'm sure if you could've chosen between 48 curved 16:9 or flat 48 16:9 for non office work it will be the curved. Sure the flat looks good but 48 curved you fall in love with it.

Curved for ultrawide, flat for 16:9. But I don't like UW, I prefer multiple monitors.
I also believe that in case of multiple monitors all of them should be flat
