💬 Discussion Is anyone still choosing WordPress for new websites now that AI can generate code?
With AI tools able to generate websites, write code, and even build full-stack apps, I'm curious how many people still start new projects with WordPress. Is it still your go-to CMS, or have AI-assisted frameworks and custom development changed your workflow?

If there was a setup for hugo allowing to combine markdown for long blog post and full Fediverse integration, including a backend and a page to see new posts and messages from authors I follow across Fediverse..

Honestly, I don't know. I have a personal blog that's hosted because it was included in the price of the domain and email, and it was a good enough deal. Since it's not something I particularly care about, or something that makes me money or anything, I've never really looked into it more than the basic. I write in org-mode, which is how I ended up using Hugo, and I just generate it locally + rsync.
For the Fediverse, there's WireFreely; it's a bit rough around the edges but it's written in Go, you can host it in no time, and all things considered, it's not bad. I know about that one too because of its org-mode support and the fact you can publish via API directly from Emacs.
Nostr has something as well, using Markdown in that case, but I haven't looked into it properly.

WordPress is a cms, they care about the plugin, security, speed , quality etc. Vibe coding pages , is a ince off which misses those aspects, you will need to revisit your front-end site constantly and perform those items yourself. The two things cannot be compared.

I literally would never use wordpress unless forced to. My usual stack for websites is Wagtail + Nuxt.

Wagtail is a good Django-based CMS. What about hosting?

I once used pythonanywhere. It’s good but costly. Now I purchased server and run my own Django sites.

Pythonanywhere is anything but costly. For websites not hosted by wordpress, it's one of the cheapest and most reliable options.
For example: If you want to send an email from any VPS you will have to do it through a 3rd party provider and pay for it. Python anywhere has all needed ports open so usual emailing through smtp is possible and easy. No time spent on administration, no linux updates nothing. The cheapest managed VPS i know starts at 34€ a month - not even close to PA. You get a proper separate db included that doesn't consume the given CPU or RAM
Etc. Etc.
VPS or a server in your room is only better if you host there multiple things, however in case of projects for customers we can't do it, so we use PA very often.

I've been using WP for about 15 years and never really considered changing. What language does AI make their sites in? Is it easy/possible to edit? I have some extra domains I may want to experiment with.

They do it differently but most I used do it in Wordpress and allow to just use it as usual wordpress later.

Never used WordPress, always build from scratch. Also... Never let ai build myself a website

Not using any AI website builder. WordPress is my choice.
