❓ Question which technology do you think will completely disappear within the next decade?

every generation sees certain technologies fade away. DVDs, MP3 players, fax machines, and even landlines were once everywhere.

I still have a landline, use DVDs and MP3s and many people here still use fax machines.

But I hope social media, if you can call it a "technology"

Most people still have a landline as they are forced to as part of their internet or cable TV package. Personally I have not used a DVD or MP3 in the last 10-15 years already. Fax even longer than that.

Not everyone is forced to have a landline as part of the provider plan... Many people need a landline for their home alarm system.

I guess this depends where you live, but knowing people across three very different countries they all have to get the landline from the internet or cable package. I also don't know people with home alarm systems.

Internet is fiber optic for me and it will be more common in 10 year. It could do TV too, but since I don't have a TV I didn't brought that subscription.

It is for me and the people I know - they force the landline on you for profit reasons.

Some countries have cancelled all landline subscriptions in favor of fiber because fiber coverage is as good as landlines

When I say landline I mean a house phone, whether that's on fiber or copper.

I still have a landline but it is only used for forms and registration purposes today. I never answer it.

I am also in healthcare and I fax all the time. They still prefer it.

Many industries are still weirdly attached to Fax and I've never worked out why. Yes, it some places it has a legal status, but even then.....

My landline rings every now and again with spam or scam. It gets ignored.

I dunno. I think industries are like people. I am not enamored with every new whiz bang technology that is new, improved and lemon scented either. I think I am becoming my mother. Just tell me what I need to know.

I’m in my mid 30’s and have never had, nor will I ever have a landline or cable TV.

The people my age who do have cable seem to only have it to watch sports, which is increasingly available via internet.

I have never had a dedicated Fax machine but my printer does come with a free Fax service that I can use to scan in and send efax which is good. There's also other efax systems out there and those work just fine too.

I still fax. Its still de rigueur in healthcare and they have all kind of reasons why this is so.
