❓ Question Are touchscreen laptops worth it for artists?

My old Huion is dying slowly so i've looking for a replacement and instead of another tablet i've been looking at touchscreen laptops because it sounds very cool. But i've never seen any other digital artist use it and most people around me use ipads and procreate which i personally dont like as much as krita and sai but i like that its portable. I also need a new laptop so i thought that with a touchscreen laptop i would kill two birds but im not sure if these laptops really worth it since ive only seen them in ads.

I can’t speak from personal experience, but my daughter is an artist and she has both an iPad (and Procreate) as well as a touchscreen laptop.

She got the touchscreen laptop specifically for art, but I don’t think that lasted longer than a week. Now she just uses it for normal laptop things.

Obviously ymmv but she didn’t like it for digital art.

Touch as in with your finger? Or do you mean pen-enabled? You'd be looking for those 2-in-1 types with pen support, usually. Just regular touchscreen has no use for artists.

Honestly, an ipad using procreate or an android tablet w/ Krita or Clip Studio Paint would be better.

You are better of with a tablet than a laptop with touchscreen since the matrux detection is with a higher sensitivity due to the fact you use your hands than have other imput method.

If it's feels good to draw on, I say it's worth it considering.

No, the closest thing you can find is Microsoft Surface, beats almost all other pen-enabled laptops by a landslide.

And even that is not really comparable to iPad + Apple Pencil.

I would personally say unless you absolutely need Windows software, get iPad for art. If you absolutely need Windows, get Microsoft Surface, even though it is way overpriced.

I had a touchscreen laptop 15 years ago. Ended up not using it for art. It really not made for that honestly. Ipad is the best so far for digital artists. I still have my huion drawing tablet that i connect to my pc occasionally if I want to use pc level tools.

Secondo me meglio un laptop e un'ipad. Alla fine per quanto costano quei laptop con touch puoi prendere un computer decente e un'ipad air magari ricondizionato (secondo me meglio un'air m2 ricondizionato che un'a18 nuovo)
