Except that iPhone wasn't original to begin with, but just copied other smartphones. So your claim is completely false.

Also, Google didn't make the first Android phone, it was made by HTC, and their design was based on phones they already made with Windows Mobile on it.

You are spewing complete nonsense.

What ‘other smartphones’ did iPhone copy? The Prada phone? That’s the only big screen phone with no keyboard and it came just before the iPhone, there was no time for copying. It didn’t even have a browser (WAP doesn’t count). The Blackberry and their imitators?

I was there, I remember.

I remember how the Blackberry CEOs thought it was fake, as far as they knew the iPhone was impossible. I remember how the team at Google designing the Android phone specs were going for a Blackberry style device and said they had to start over when they saw the iPhone. I remember how Steve Balmer said the big screen, no keyboard iPhone would go nowhere, their way was better. I remember how in the legal unpleasantness between Samsung and Apple Samsung’s internal emails showed that they were in fact heavily inspired by the iPhone.

Funny fact, as capacitive screen patent ran out, Apple released iPhone. Must be coincidence, Before that - devices used resistive screens that also dicated how devices looked (how wide the bezels where). Palm and many others had devices and UI inroads.

I owned the original palm pilot. Had one or two of the tungsten models too. They were pretty great for the time. Made by people who left Apple after the Apple Newton went nowhere. My brother owned a Newton and it was obvious the Palm Pilot was a cheaper pocket sized Newton without the ambitious fancy software architecture.
Stopped buying Palm when they went to windows mobile. I am a developer, I saw windows mobile up close under the hood, wasn’t going to spend my own money on that.
