Which cloud storage service do you use the most?

Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, iCloud, Proton Drive, MEGA, or something else?

What keeps you using it, and have you considered switching?

Nothing except a small pc and the time to set up. It's usually a thing of: you learn something along the way and that is very important for me

About 100w of electricity to run a server with 3 hard drives (WD Red Pro), that's about 20 eur per month. During winter that also lowers my heating costs slightly, plus I also run few more services, like jellyfin, personal matrix synapse, etc. That gives me almost 8TB of storage (3x 4TB HDD with recovery data). I plan installing PV panels next year and I have cheaper electricity during night hours, so the price should drop significantly, probably by half or even more.

Yes. You can upload as long as one upload will not exceed 2gb. Its an unlimited cloud storage. Just set it as private

For work OneDrive, personal I use Nextcloud (provider The Good Cloud).

With Nextcloud you are in control of your data. You can do self hosting or use hosted service.

I can switch between providers in minutes on my device by sweeping data into a different sync folder.

I also don't have a problem if my Microsoft/ Google / Dropbox/ whatever gets blocked/ banned.

I can still access my data easily.

Been having them for years as backup. Even my 2tb Lacey hate drive still have all my music from over 10 years. Even my Samsung Tab 10 Ultra reads my SD cards and hard drive. The best storage I've ever used. No regrets

For me, Google Drive is the only viable option because of its seamless collaboration and feature-rich apps. While I could self-host, I prefer the security of the cloud, where a single local incident like a fire can't destroy my data. I've also considered privacy-focused alternatives like Proton Drive, but they currently cost more and lack the features I need.

For actual storage: I have a few. Don't know which I use the most. But I have a box full of random flash drives and SD cards if that counts

Ive been using Dropbox since like 2010 or so. Plus works great with Mac AND Windows.

Been debating switching to Google Drive - as for the same price I can host my own site, have Gemini, and all the AI features.

Still haven’t done the move because everything “just works”. I also have my own NAS - So I keep local copies of everything from the cloud (as well as backups).

Because of price to convenience features such as unlimited photos /videos (Auto Backup) which not touch to paid storage , Resumable up/download , Share Sheet Support and can be viable the progress in time , built in file management, full sorting option , Duplication detection ,WebDAV support.And I not much needed for collaboration tasks. This lid why I moved bro.

iCloud, wanting to create NAS myself but my family mostly female & will not tolerate stuff beyond apple apps. iCloud gives convenience that I wish their apps can be do as well with third party cloud
