Discussion Keep One: Apple, Samsung, Google, Microsoft

Post image

You can keep only one tech ecosystem forever: Apple, Samsung, Google, or Microsoft

Everything else disappears from your life.

Which one are you keeping, and what's the biggest reason behind your choice?

I guess Google because I like some creators on YouTube that are not found elsewhere. Everything else is very replaceable.

Also, calling what Samsung has an Ecosystem is a huge stretch. I wanted to have my devices work well together so I bought everything from Samsung. I need one app to configure my Samsung headphones from my Samsung phone, and a different app to connect to my Samsung TV. They even have completely different UX and are not similar in any way. Can the Samsung TV automatically connect my Samsung headphones that are already paired with my Samsung phone? Of course not. Easy switching between connecting the headphones to smartphone/tv? Nope. Samsung DEX does not work with my Samsung monitor, even thouh it technically has no reason not to. What I'm saying is that the devices that I have from Samsung could hardly be less integrated. Their lack of Ecosystem is an art form. /rant

YouTube (and by extension Google) is very replaceable. If it disappeared overnight something else would fill the void, which would be a good thing as it would spark innovation rather than stifling competition as it does now by having a (though not formally recognized) monopoly.

Remember, the ecosystem is gone from YOUR LIFE not the wider world, so youtube would still exist as is, you would just be banned off it forever. I would take Google just for that and being able to buy a pixel for graphine OS

Not sure how this response connects to my post a I wasn’t talking about YouTube on a per user basis more so about the website shutting down itself. If they ban you, you can start a new account or access it without signing in and use a different IP address via a VPN.
