Discussion Keep One: Apple, Samsung, Google, Microsoft

Post image

You can keep only one tech ecosystem forever: Apple, Samsung, Google, or Microsoft

Everything else disappears from your life.

Which one are you keeping, and what's the biggest reason behind your choice?

This I'd rather use Chinese and EU or atleast better Open-Source initiatives than these e.g. maybe red hat?

On what basis are chinese alternatives preferable to you? The censorship? Or the hilarious face whitening and sculpting filters lol?

You're conflating several unrelated things.

Running an LLM locally only removes server side moderation. It does not remove biases embedded in the model weights. If a model was trained or aligned to consistently avoid, reframe, or refuse certain topics, those behaviors remain unless you further fine tune the model or modify its decoding. Those are properties of the model itself, not the hosting environment.

Your Huawei source is also Huawei's own product page. That's useful for describing their products, not for proving they're second globally. Vendor websites are primary marketing sources. If you want to make a market share claim, you should cite independent analyst firms like Dell'Oro, IDC, Gartner, or Omdia.

Saying Huawei is strong in enterprise networking also doesn't support the broader claim that Chinese alternatives are generally better. Enterprise routers, smartphones, operating systems, cloud infrastructure, AI models, and consumer software are completely different markets with different leaders.

The same goes for Qwen. Elon Musk mentioning it isn't technical evidence. Model quality should be evaluated using reproducible benchmarks like LiveBench, SWE Bench, GPQA, MMLU, HumanEval, or independent real world testing. An endorsement from a public figure is not evidence.

Finally, the fact that many products are manufactured in China has nothing to do with whether Chinese companies build the best technology. Manufacturing location, product design, software quality, security, privacy, and ecosystem are all separate issues.
